However, finding an affordable driving range that isn't overly crowded in Phoenix is a bit of a challenge. Now mind you, I am a high handicap golfer, who does not spend a lot of time on the course. So when I do go out, I accept that I am likely going to Dig up a lot of holes and lose a lot of balls. If your game is like mine, then this is the place for you. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on aesthetics as this is about as rough cut as they get. However, they have a driving range, a putting green And a chipping area. All of these surfaces are pretty rough and are not anywhere near top golf quality. However, if you're trying to improve your game, and you are not too bougie to play on some hardscrabble, check this place out. They do close a little earlier on evenings, but this isn't a course you would want to be out late on anyway. They also Have an executive nine hole course that you can walk or ride on. This place is so conveniently located that it instantly turns any business trip or quick getaway into a golf adventure. If I ever retire to Phoenix, I'd be hunting for a house right around here in a heartbeat. Most folks picture Arizona golf as nothing but cacti, sand, and rocks baking in the sun. Not here! Raven is an absolute oasis with thousands of mature pine trees lining the fairways, lush rolling greens, strategic bunkers, and stunning views of South Mountain and the valley beyond. It's like a lush Northern Arizona vibe dropped right into the desert beautifully manicured and way more forgiving (and fun) than the typical target-style desert courses. This was our very first stop on a multi-course golf binge, suggested by a friend, and it completely set the tone. Everything only gets better from here, but Raven was the ideal starter: challenging yet playable for all levels, with that championship Gary Panks/David Graham design that keeps you thinking on every shot. The staff was super accommodating and friendly from the moment we arrived. The food? Mouth-watering definitely grab the burger (you won't regret it). Either courses are fun tracks that challenge you in different ways. The Cattail is a super fun track that has a lot of potential for scoring good. Greens roll really true with good pace and everywhere around them has crisp perfectly manicured grass defining the fringe to apron back to fairways. I wish the bunkers (sand) was more fluff and softer but still very easy to manage out of them. The course conditions were absolutely nice and pretty much as perfect as you would expect for a course of this nature. Cart guys, pro shop staff, starter were all great and super helpful and very informative on anything g you needed or asked. Services throughout were great and the weather was perfect. The pace of play was very nice, never saw the group in front of us or behind us and finished a group 4 in 3 hours 58 minutes from the Golds(one) shy of the tips (black). I definitely want to come back here again rather soon. Great overall experience. It appears the LPGA will be here exactly the following week from today play as they were setting up all over the course. Even with cart path only on all holes, walking out to the ball was not difficult on any of the holes.

The rangers do a good job of managing pace of play. The team on the beverage cart are fantastic! The change to the greens has been a significant improvement. They roll true and fairly quick. The drainage from the bunkers is great. Twice this winter there has been some heavy rain and the course is cart path only, but the bunkers have no standing water and are still playable.

We also lucked out that the group behind us were nice and didn't judge my skills or lack there of. I do keep pace of play. We stopped by the restaurant after hole 9 to try and grab a quick bite. To our pleasant surprise, the staff said they would bring our food to us, which was a really nice touch! It didn't take long and I was eating tacos by hole 11. As mentioned, because so many frequent this course the range balls are in bad shape at times. Although my last visit the range balls were good as I didn't find a majorly scuffed up one. Range is lit halfway with targets and distance. This alone I would probably give 3 stars. Gil makes up for the rest. I've been through a few instructors who just didn't do it for me let alone help me drop my scores. When I met Gil I constantly shot in the 100's. After about a little over 1.5 years of practice and drills I'm constantly shooting in the 80's and taking my friends monies. Gil has provided me with mental strength for my game and awesome alignment and contact drills that I can take with me anywhere. I would suggest if you are looking for help this is your place and Gil can sort you out. Don't be afraid to step into a lesson atmosphere and learn a little. Enjoy the game!

We're used to it and we bring lots of cooling towels. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The driving range was limited to irons only during our visit, not sure why. The course was in great shape for the most part and the pace of play was ideal. There was no one in front of us or behind us pretty much the entire time. Food from the restaurant was decent. They provided a small "cooler" which is more like a small lunch bag for the drinks. The golf carts don't have coolers, which isn't a deal breaker, but a bit inconvenient especially since the lunch bag they gave us leaked and there wasn't a good spot for it in the cart. Regardless, we had a nice experience. We played all 18 holes and are excited to play again in the future!

I found 24 Precision Golf on Groupon and purchased a 1-hour session for ~$25. I was a past member…read moreat a different indoor simulator location that used Trackman4 technology and it was okay, but I felt it didn't get the distances correct on my longer clubs. This location uses GOLFZON technology which I was unfamiliar with, but I found the distances and ball flight were very accurate to how I perform outdoors. This location has 3 golf bays, but 1 was under construction while I was there. I started in the middle bay but after about 5min of warm-up shots the computer froze up (touch screen and mouse didn't work) and I didn't see any obvious way to reset it, so I moved to the left bay and was able to finish my time there without any issues. I was blown away by the hitting floor...the plates move to match your lie on the screen, and your feet and the ball lie are independent. It was trippy to be standing on the plate the first time it was shifting around. It made playing a virtual round way more immersive. They also have different mat textures depending your lie (1 fairway/green, 2 roughs, 2 sands). Another crazy feature is the balls automatically move to the tee within seconds of hitting your shot. The tee height is adjustable, and you can just move the ball off the tee for all the ground shots. After each shot, you get an analysis of your shot result...way more than just distance and feet offline. My favorite was a mapping where I was hitting the ball on my club faces, showing I was slightly off-center towards the toe of the club. It was also cool getting a full report of my stats and data after my virtual round- ball speeds, launch angles, sidespin and backspin, and more. Along with the hitting bays they have a large putting and chipping area so many people can practice at once. It was in great shape. They have memberships and different tiers from 1hr session and no guests up to 3hr sessions with up to 3 guests allowed. Groupon had another coupon which brought our total down to $49.60. The indoor golf facility is spacious and offers lobby seating area, a massive putting green, and two bays, with one more being added at the time of our visit. I don't know much about golf simulators, but theirs seemed to be cutting edge technology. They use GOLFZON technology which features moving swing plates and motion plates, auto tees, multi-surface play, and more. It was really neat and shows you your swing stats. The owner himself spoke with us and told us all about GOLFZON and showed us how it works. He also offers lessons at the facility, memberships, as well as individual tee times. We had a great time and would recommend 24 Precision Golf!

We meet weekly in one of their simulator bays, and I can't believe how much Gary has improved my swing and grip in just one class. I've learned so much, and I highly recommend taking lessons with him. Each session runs around 45 minutes to an hour and costs $60, but if you purchase the series, it drops to $250--only $50 per class. Such a steal! Hornacek's has a huge selection of golf gear, from clothes to clubs and bags. They even have an amazing clearance section in the back, which I love checking out after my lessons. I scored a pair of last season's G/FORE shoes for a fraction of the original price. The staff there are always super friendly and ready to help. It's definitely a go-to store for anything golf-related!
