I live at an apartment complex in Wilsonville, OR that is reserved for the disabled and is serviced by First Response Security (FRS). FRS has refused to respond to my calls for service on two separate occasions. On August 17, 2022 at approximately 9:16 p.m. I called FRS and spoke to Megan (dispatcher) about a tenant who had threatened me. I also told her that I wanted an officer to respond and write a report of what occurred. She said she would pass this on to the officer in the area to "see if there was anything they could do." At approximately 9:55 pm I called and followed up with FRS since I had not heard back from them. I spoke to Zach (dispatcher) who informed me that Ryan (watch commander) stated that based on the nature of the incident, they would not respond. I then asked for Ryan to call me and Zach stated that he would pass the message to Ryan, but that if he refuses to call me back, "that will be that". Zach said I should follow up with the property management company or the police department. Having a private security company who does not respond to resident calls for service does not help the residents of this community, who are made up of marginalized and vulnerable tenants. On September 10, 2023 a tenant was seen throwing garbage over the front of the balcony near the front of the apartment complex, including glass. The tenant reportedly broke a window out of his apartment and threatened to do the same to other residents' windows. I called FRS at approximately 10:15 p.m. on this day for help and operator #91 refused to respond noting "officer safety". I asked if her officers were armed and she said that some are, but still refused to dispatch anyone to our complex and informed me to call the police. Residents are informed to call the property's "security team" (FRS) when issues like this arise. However, this is the second time that FRS has refused to respond to my calls for service, yet Cascade Management, Inc. (CMI-property management company) continues to contract with them knowing of this. Additionally, I and other residents have observed the "patrols" FRS claims to do at the property. They consist of FRS pulling up in front of the property and sitting in their marked vehicles for a short amount of time and then leaving. No foot patrols of the property are performed, just as the previous security company did. This complex receives subsidies from HUD; therefore, it is reasonable to assume the subsidies that are collected help pay for FRS services. While I don't know the specifics of the contract between FRS and CMI, if FRS refused to provide a service they are contractually obligated to perform and paid for with government subsidies, it may be considered fraud. I will be reporting these incidents to the HUD OIG and ask them to investigate FSS. read more

Why would I recommend a security company that is being paid for the complex in Wilsonville where I live? They do NOT get out of their car. They sit outside in the car and, sure the GPS says they went to the property, but they do NOT get out of the car to patrol ‍ so they can't see the 1 resident who is currently wreaking havoc with other residents. ALSO, when we call the property management ( Cascade) to say what the tenant is doing they say "call the security company that's why we pay them"... and when we do the security dispatch says due to the safety of their officers they will not respond‍‍ good thing I'm not paying them! read more

As a customer since 2019, this has been a very bad customer service experience. Started 5/18/21 signed up for a upgrade which they initiated. 6/16/21 our system was not upgradable (had to call). 6/29/21 asked for refund if charged - no charge. 6/29/21 asked for upgrade system quote said would get info to me on 6/30/21. - no response. 7/8/21was going to have someone from sales call same day. 7/14/21 - emailed again bc no one called. Sales rep finally called said might not service me in washington but was going to find out and promised to call me back! It is now a month - 8/13/21- sent an email to cancel my monitoring service - have moved on! I told receptionist, a tech person, systems coordinator and sales rep that I was not happy with the no call backs and customer service. Tried to give them a chance to continue with them but obviously they don't care. read more

I am happy with the technician that came out to install our security unit. He checked it out to make sure it was working and fixed the volume of the unit. He arrived within 30 minutes of the appointed time and completed the work within 30 minutes. read more

This company was quick with sales to get us to buy. They have been good with the two times we needed a response for guests not knowing how to use the system while we were away. But several other requests for information over a 2 year period have always resulted in the same: no call back or response ever. Also they have not made use of temporary user information we shared when we were away, causing problems. read more

I have dealt with a few different security companies in my life and for the most part they all over sale and under deliver. I was turned on to First Response a year ago by a friend and he said that he has been with the same security company for over a decade and that he has never witnessed a company that takes customer service as such a high priority as First Response. He said give them a shot... you won't be disappointed, and a year later to this day he was right! They have showed me that there are companies out there in todays world that still care about the customers concerns and needs. read more

I have had a home security system for over 5 years and recently had First Response upgrade it so now I can get messages on my phone. It is really nice to have these features available so I can arm/disarm my system anytime, and I get a text when it's disarmed by somebody else. Customer service is great and they do their own monitoring and guard response - unlike most security companies. read more

I just signed on with First Response and am very satisfied. They sent an estimator who listened to me and provided a cost-effective plan. The installer was promptly scheduled and showed up on time. He was respectful of my property, leaving absolutely no mess behind and explaining our new security system completely and patiently. There was a minor problem noted after the first 24 hours and First Response responded promptly, answering my phone call with a real person (no robot) and sending a tech within a couple of hours who fixed the issue and further explained my system to me. So far, so good. Tech was nice. Showed up on time. Haven't had alarm incident yet, so don't know how they would do. But, they did not charge us for connecting our existing alarm to their monitoring. $25 per month seems like a good deal once you factor in the home insurance discount for having monitoring. read more

We had our alarm serviced for the first time in 3 years and Logan could not have been more helpful or efficient. He was able to diagnose the problem and detect issues that might arise and fix them. All under an hour. He even left replacement batteries for the sensors which are a pain for me to find. Very pleased with the service and Logan's approach. read more

They make you sign up for a 3 year contract then auto renew another year without asking you if you want to renew. No Email, no phone call or a letter. They stated that in the contract so they can auto renew it and put more money in their pocket. They don't care if you live in the house or not. I tried to get out of that extra year of contract after I sold my home. I got screwed with a whole entire year. Way to scam your customer. If you are reading this, I would suggest you go find someone else. read more

Very rude people handling the call center. The woman who called on our alarm being accidentally tripped was incredibly rude, then she sent the police because of a technicality that was petty. When I called to register a complaint with her manager he was indifferent towards me and my concerns. Overall I would give them a 0 if I could for the worst customer service/experience I have ever had with a security company. I would never recommend this company and I will never use them on any other building I own. read more

David from First Response came out the other day to our company to trouble shoot why the security panel was making a constant pinging noise. It ended up that our wireless sensors needed a new battery. David took the time to help interpret the panel messages, show me where the areas were, and marked the monitors for me so I can ID them. He was very patient and didn't leave until I learned what to do so next time, where all the wireless monitors where so I could do it on my own and save a customer visit fee. read more
