Five stars because the staff is super friendly, the coffee truck is super cute with good vibes, and my peanut butter shaker coffee was very tasty. Alternative milk is also only 25 cents which is wonderful! There's no decaf coffee so I got only one espresso shot not two. However, I got the 12 oz size and it was mostly ice - I took it out when I got home because I'm not an ice girl and there was only 1/3 of the cup having the coffee drink itself. I was so sad because it was quite tasty and almost $8. I found the peanut butter shaker special through their instagram - peanut butter with vanilla bean and maldon salt. First Time Visit To Go First Impressions After my walks around downtown Phoenix, I would occasionally see this cool coffee truck parked next to The Churchill. I finally decided to get my coffee fix. First Place Coffee has been on my radar for a while now and so happy I got to stop by! This is a food truck coffee spot so do not expect a sit down option. The employees were all energetic and helpful! I went with an iced Neapolitan and it was so flavorful!! No bitterness not watered down, simply perfect. My all time favorite coffee truck. They have such unique flavor combinations and tons of options. The honeycomb is a must. The pb flavor they had this past weekend was absolutely divine. I love their pastry and "scoop" treats as well. The earlier you come the better because there is less of a line but they are truly worth the wait if you do find yourself in a line. I'm obsessed with this little coffee truck. My friend recommended awhile back and I finally got around to trying to 2 weeks ago. They're open 4 days per week, Friday-Monday for like 4 hours each day... and I've happen to squeeze it in 4 times. I love that the coffee is flavored without being overly sweet and just blends really well. They were great at giving recommendations and love all the locations are near my house :) the pumpkin butternut squash is delicious, as is the caramel latte, baklava... and just a plain latte. I love the bakery dinersaur as well. Also AMAZING desserts that have great flavor without being loaded with sugar, but the perfect amount for a dessert. This place is amazing-- coffee or matcha, hot or iced. I like variety, so their seasonal specials and the rotating selection of treats from The DinerSaur are always a joy. My go-to is a seasonal special matcha and whatever scone they have on the truck that day. I've never been disappointed, but the fontina and raspberry jam scone is the GOAT. If it's a special treat day, I get a cake cup. The serving size is just right. Staff are really great. They move a line pretty quickly and put out shade in the summer. One of my very favorite coffee spots in the valley! They are so unbelievably friendly and welcoming. Their drinks are delicious and so inventive. It's a small truck but they always provide seating and good vibes. Their seasonal ones are a must try, but their classics are phenomenal too. Our go-tos are often the Honeycomb or LEO. Their Spring special Orange Blossom is amazing. Their pastries are also to die for! Their scones are where it's at, and if you see them selling the Raspberry Fontina or Chili Cheddar, you must snag it while you can! Super dog friendly! So so good! I've been wanting to try their truck for ages, but I kept missing them since they're only in the uptown area on Saturdays and Sundays. They're in the Colony Uptown plaza parked right out front. Cute little trailer. I got the Honeycomb Latte that has local honey, vanilla bean, and cinnamon. I visited First Place Coffee in front of The Churchill, where they usually are parked on Monday mornings (you can check their Instagram page for their weekly weekend schedule + locations). They have interesting specialty drinks that rotate seasonally and in general a well-rounded menu with a variety of options. They also feature pastries from theDinersaur. I got an iced neapolitan with oat milk, and it was super tasty! The oat milk was creamy, and I could taste the notes of strawberry + vanilla without them overpowering the coffee. The drink was just the right amount of sweetness, something that I really appreciate as it tends to be a pitfall for specialty drinks at other coffee shops. The baristas were all super friendly + helpful, and I appreciated that they knew the ingredients to the pastries as I have a nut allergy. I'm excited to try more of their drinks! Was SO excited to try this place today. I follow them on Instagram and everything they sell sounded amazing. I got there about 9:30 and the line was long but moved a little quicker than I thought. A ton of people brought their cute dogs! The people working in the truck were super nice and also efficient! Very cute lil coffee truck run by lovely females. I have stopped by a couple of times before work and they are very friendly and service is quick. I tried the sage salted caramel which is part of their winter menu and el Diablo which is a signature drink. Both were great. I rarely drink coffee myself but both drinks were delicious. El Diablo has Chocolate, Chile de Arbol, Vanilla Bean, & Cinnamon which makes you feel like you're getting dessert, yet it's not overly sweet. Their pastries look delicious but I haven't tried them yet. I highly recommend given them a try if you're in the Phoenix area. I will for sure keep coming back. read more

Tried 3 of their lattes: Honeycomb (can actually taste the honey flavor!), Smashing Pumpkin (nice nod to eponymous 90's Alt Rock Rock band), and Wild Cardamom. Cardamom has been the latest trend I've noticed, in local coffee shops. The flavor stands up well to strong coffee and lends a nice warm spice note. They sell Le Dinersaur pastries, and this morning, we tried the banana chocolate chip dinosaur bread. Adorable in brachiosaurus and T-Rex shapes! Most importantly, DELICIOUS. First Place Coffee is observing COVID precautions: socially distanced line to order and wait, no-contact payment options (no cash, currently, but they take CC AND Venmo). Super pleasant and helpful staff! Currently, the truck is operating 3 days a week: Fridays at 22nd St/Indian School and Sat/Sun at Phoenix General/Framed Ewe at 7th St, north of Missouri. It's a truck--you have to hunt down its changing schedule and location online and then wait in a parking lot to get a fun drink. I've introduced numerous friends to it over time. Customers' loyalty should matter. Something as simple as remembering a name and acknowledging someone is how you build--and keep--loyalty. The drinks here are great, and the owner is lovely--she always remembers my name, which makes the experience feel personal and positive. But the rest of the staff? Not so much. The owner is sometimes here, but not as much recently. I came here almost every morning for quite a while, and despite the owner saying my name right in front of them, none of the staff ever made an effort to remember me. Meanwhile, other regulars were greeted warmly and treated like friends--yet I still had to tell the same people my name every single time. It started to feel personal, like I was being intentionally overlooked due to some kind of grudge or unspoken bias. Eventually, I stopped going. Then, months later, I visited again randomly--and only then did the person taking orders suddenly remember my name. I was surprised and honestly confused. How could they suddenly recall it after all that time, when they couldn't remember me during months of daily visits? It didn't feel like forgetfulness--it felt like avoidance, like they just didn't want to connect with me. It's hard not to take that personally. And when you're standing in the hot sun, breathing in generator fumes, with nothing to do but wait and watch everyone else get acknowledged and remembered--it really doesn't feel welcoming. Not a great way to start your morning. It definitely doesn't make you feel like you're in first place after dropping serious money, bringing friends, and being consistently loyal. read more

Pretty top-notch coffee in the heart of Phoenix! Even though it's a coffee truck, they've created a welcoming atmosphere right in the parking lot that they are based in. There are a few foldable chairs if you want to sit and enjoy your coffee. They have a long list of summer specials, and I got the peach basil latte with oat (hot). I love how the flavors are so subtle that you have to focus on each sip to enjoy it. It made me be mindful of my coffee, if that makes sense! It didn't taste syrupy or artificial, which I appreciate. It is a pretty penny (almost $8), but it's worth trying at least once and indulging. The service is friendly, too! I'd love to return to try their other specials when I'm in the area. read more

Great drinks, cool truck and nice workers. They had an extensive menu with a bunch of specialty drinks that made it hard to choose - I wanted to try them all. I went with the LEO and it didn't disappoint. The friend I was with got the coconut matcha which was one of their seasonal drinks. We also got a scone (yum, never had one before!) 10/10 recommend but def keep up with their hours and what location they are in. You can look it up on their instagram or their website. Only knocking down a star because I wish it was more accessible and I could go regularly. Not holding it against them at all, but it's not as easy to swing by because of their hours / days they're open. It's also a little pricey (I believe our drinks were about $6 each) but, a lot of coffee shops have these prices and it's good coffee + alternative milk so it's worth the treat. read more

I love love LOVE First Place and can't believe I haven't written a review for this cute coffee truck yet. It's hard to know where to start when there are so many good things to say! The quality is phenomenal. Every speciality drink has beautiful presentation. My favorite drink is their rose water latte - not pictured as it isn't a part of the summer menu. The tropical matcha was fun and fruity, with notes of pineapple and happy little unsweetened coconut flakes. The thing I appreciate most about these drinks is that they're never too sweet and FULL of flavor. Every flavor note mentioned on the menu is fully expressed in every drink I've had, in every sip I've taken. They don't let up on quality. Their iced coffee, espresso, and other more traditional coffee drinks are great as well. First Place has mastered social media and their Instagram is great. For not having a brick and mortar store, social media serves as a gathering space. They always repost pictures, highlight customers, and have cute, kitschy photo shoots. The First Place Pets are my fave and people bring their animals (cats and lizards included) for photo shoots in front of the truck. This is truly a community space and proves that you don't need a building to create camaraderie with neighbors and friends. While there have been rumors of a physical space, I don't mind seeking out this coffee truck every weekend. I find myself there on Saturdays at Framed Ewe, but make sure to check their social media as you never know where they'll be next! read more

I'm writing this review from my experience over the summer. We waited in line less than 10 minutes even though it was pretty busy. The service was great and I love the energy all the ladies have in the tiny truck! I'm a sucker for matcha even though I work at a specialty coffee shop and I tried their Passionfruit strawberry matcha, which was awesome! I'm currently in flagstaff for school, but I follow them on Instagram and their seasonal drinks they've been releasing sound so good. They definitely put a lot of thought and effort into making high quality product. I plan on coming back the next time I'm in Phoenix to try a seasonal matcha or coffee drink. What a fun way to get coffee!!! I've been to first place several times this summer, and, let me tell you, they're a bright spot in an otherwise not so great summer. The ladies who run it are so friendly and seem to really care about the well being of their customers. They're a truck, but they set it up so everyone stays 6 ft apart in line, payment is on a table away from the truck itself, and all employees are masked. It's a very clean system. The coffee is also so good! They have fun and unique specialty lattes.... I loved the orange latte and am currently enjoying their coconut piña colada latte....how fun?! Have had this coffee truck on my list to try for forever. Today I passed the truck on 7th st and made a fast u-turn! Today was THE day I was finally going to get to try First Place Coffee! Clearly they have a following as there was a "do-able" line which in no way dissuaded me from waiting. I love Lux and Peixoto and have to say this was equally good which is saying a lot. And this is coming from someone that has coffee running thru her veins 24/7. I had the Diablo or something along those lines with chocolate in it and my niece had the Honeycomb. If someone stood in my way, I would gladly shove them out of the way to get to either of these choices. ABsolutely amazing! read more

They are the sweetest, caring and out going people there! They know me and my dog Luigi by name and always put Luigi's dad on my cup! We I love and makes for a great atmosphere and personable place to go to. Other than staffing, they make some pretty awesome coffee! I am admittedly a First Place Coffee fan girl! This is the top coffee place I would recommend to anyone in Phoenix. Devon creates a new menu seasonally, and the drinks are consistently both creative and delicious. Even if a drink sounds outside your comfort zone, you should trust and try it! They were incredibly thoughtful during COVID, and everyone on the team is more than friendly and welcoming - they make you part of a community. My personal favorite drinks are the Orange Blossom in the spring, the Lemon Thyme in the summer and the Wild Cardamom in the fall - but you truly can't go wrong. They also stock pastries from the phenomenal Dinersaur, the pastries vary by day and season but all are mind-blowing. My only tip is to be aware that this place is extremely popular - they move fast, but especially on Saturdays and Sundays you might want to be prepared to stand in a line.
