Sorry, but I will never go back to this place and, the way that they handle things, no one should. I just started to look for a new car since I have a lease and that will be up soon. After doing research I decided that the Kia Sportage was one of the cars that I would be seriously considering. 1st Kia was close to where we live, so we decided to start there. Got there early in the morning and we weren't two steps out of the car when one of the sales people approached us. He asked what we were looking for and I told him that I was interested in the Sportage. On the way to walking to the car we told him that my lease was up soon and I need to find a car that was easy for me to get in and out of due to a medical issue. He said that he had a bad back and that this car would be good. He led us to a new car and opened it up for us and I got in and started looking about. It had leather seats (which I am not a fan of) so I asked if I could get it with cloth seats. He said yes, that he had one over there (waving towards the other end of the lot) somewhere that had it. I then asked him what the difference was between the 2017 and the 2016 model. He said he had no idea what the differences were. I then inquired how long he had been with Kia and he said not long, but he had come from another dealership. It was then that I asked to test drive the car and he said no. He then explained to me that he didn't want to take the time to test drive the car with me if I wasn't planning on buying that day and that he didn't want to miss a potential sale if he left the lot. I got out of the car and he showed me the trunk and how the seats folded down. He then proceeded to tell us his whole work history and, in that time, he could have taken us for that test drive. When I told him that the other car that I was considering, he jumped all over that, telling me that he knew the owner of the dealership in Thousand Oaks that sold that car and that before I go there to call him and he will be able to save me a few thousand dollars by putting us in touch with his friend. At this point I was ready to go, so I asked him for his card. Not cause I would call him, but so I didn't forget his name. Right before we walked inside he said that he would introduce us to the sales manager, but if he asked if we took a test drive to tell him that we didn't have the time today. The manager was on the phone, so we didn't get to meet him and then we left. It needs to be noted that when we got there there was only one other couple looking at cars and, when we left, there were no other customers and three other sales people just hanging around the showroom. The next day I called the dealership and spoke to Bob, one of the managers. Told him everything that happened and he said that if I was interested in coming back in, to call him directly and he would place me with another one of the sales people.. There is no way I would go there, especially after reading the reviews here. This place is a bit shady. Good thing that there are other Kia dealerships in the area and I have already been to one of those. Stay away from this place. read more

Just bought a new car from 1st Kia. Noah Kiedaisch was a wonderful sales rep who patiently guided me through the process. Great experience!

Let me start off by saying that ive owned my KIA since '12 and have been coming to this KIA location since the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks one closed. A drive i will never mind taking as long as the customer service continues to be as great as it has. Jimmy in the service department takes you through every step of the process, makes the visit swift and easy. Hes like the guy you see in commercials and your like "i wish they were that interested and involved in making your experience worth while". Let me tell you something, this dude is! I got text through out the day with updates on the service, free coffee/donuts, offered me a ride to my house. (in the san fernando valley) This dude is top notch! Id never take my optima anywhere else! Thank Jimmy! read more

Thank you Johnny Kia for your apologies, oh wait you NEVER once apologized. But its a little too late, just went to CarMax in Oxnard and had the most POSITIVE car buying experience ever! I highly recommend CarMax in Oxnard to everyone who wants to be treated with respect and who wants a stress free car buying experience. My sales consultant, Ralph Metz, not only helped me with financing but he never gave up on me! He kept in constant communication with me and made this the best experience ever! So thank you 1st Kia for treating me like a second class citizen as it pushed me to look elsewhere to buy my car! I am now a truly happy camper! read more

The entire lease process from start to finish was fantastic. Omar was our sales consultant and he was so helpful and made everything so easy for us. We came to 1st Kia after having bad experiences at other dealerships, but this entire experience was totally different. We were in and out quickly, got the price we wanted, and just overall we were very very happy with our whole experience. Thank you so much 1st Kia, Thank you so much Omar, we love our new car! read more

AVOID! I tried to pay for my car upfront with cash, but they ran my credit 7 times without my permission!!! I went to 1st Kia on May 20th. I had visited their website first and found the car I wanted. They guarantee the price if you print their certificate. I received a call from their Internet sales department and was told to come in and ask for one of two people. When I arrived at the dealer, I was told that the first guy wasn't in, but I could speak to Yehuda. Yehuda is from the finance department, he referred me to Benjamin, a salesman. We went on a test drive and returned to the dealer. The car was listed at 18K. I asked if it was possible to pay 18K total out the door since I was paying in full. They told me no, they absolutely couldn't do that because Kia doesn't do that. Ben tried to convince me to put 15 down and finance the remaining 3 plus tax and licence, which I refused to do. Yehuda came into the financing conversation and told me the reason my credit was denied was because they want me to put less money down and pay off the rest via financing. At this point, I had no idea my credit was being run because I was paying with a check up front. I had filled out an application, which I was told everyone had to fill out, regardless of payment method. At no point did I agree to have my credit run. Yehuda then instructed me to write a check for $15K, shook my hand and congratulated me on my new car. They took my check, left the room to their payment area and then came back. That's when they said that Kia Financing had denied me because they couldn't find my credit history. They then asked mybrother to cosign for the vehicle. Still at this point, I was under the impression that I had just bought the vehicle outright for $15K. I told them I refused to finance the vehicle or cosign for one because I have the money to pay for it outright. I told them that if they didn't want to cooperate then I would take the check back and leave. They tried to argue and insisted on working out a deal. I had to ask several times for my check to be returned to me and then I left. Now, three weeks later, I am still receiveing credit denial notices. They have run my credit a total of SEVEN TIMES for a car I was paying for outright. Seriously, do not buy a car here! read more

So on tuesday we went to get a car from KIA in simi valley told them up front we didn't have any money to put down we spend 2 hours there for them to tell us we need money down when we could the staff became very rude the manager even told me a would never get a car. The manager was the worst said very rude things to me my husband was very upset. I guess the manager didn't like being told things that were obviously clear by them sitting around with no customer and cars sitting so long they have to be reduced. So we took our business to Carmax got a great car and a better price never go to First Kia go to Carmax. The people there are so helpful a right help get what you want. read more

Typical sales people. Avoid these people like a plague! The salesman started off nice (most of them do). We did a test drive, liked the car and were ready to talk numbers. When we got to financing, everything changed. The sales guy tried to sell us a bunch of stuff we didn't ask for. He just assumed we'd want to buy the $1,800 extended warranty (even though the whole point of buying a Kia was that it would last 100,000 miles). When I asked for a copy of his quote, he said he was, "not allowed" to give it to me. Then we got that tired old sales line, "what's it going to take to get you to drive the car off the lot today?" I explained it was the first dealership we had visited and I would not have the down payment for a week or two. But, the salesman persisted, pulling out all the pressure he felt he had to apply to the situation. He said, "what if we could get you the car with no money down, would you buy it today?" All I could think was, wow, what a jerk! The salesman might have had a quota for the month to sell cars, but I had no quota or immediate need to buy a car that month, let alone that evening. My plan was to put down as much money as possible so I could lower my payments. However, that desire of mine seemed completely lost on the salesman who only seemed interested in solving his problem - how he would get me to buy the car. I'd heard enough and simply got up and walked out, leaving a bewildered salesman behind me, not having a clue how he could have possibly lost the sale. Unfortunately, this dealership lived up to just about every negative stereotype of sleazy car dealerships. I still like the car, now I just need to find a dealership that will listen to what I need, not just try to make their sales quota for the month! read more

I don't how this Kia got so many low reviews!!?? I do realize however that most of the reviews are pretty old though. Marlon and the Kia team not only met but exceeded my expectations! I did have another Kia location to compare my experience to, and that OTHER dealership just failed miserably. Completely happy with my purchase and grateful for the outstanding customer service! Please don't hesitate to give these guys a visit if your looking for a Kia. Marlon, thank you so much! read more

Disclaimer: I rarely write negative reviews of businesses. That being said, this is more of an observation than an attack. Not naming any names. Onward... As a new car dealership, I think this dealer, from an interpersonal standpoint, is perfect. I had a hell of a hard time finding the Optima I wanted at other dealers, and in the end I got a better offering on the corsa blue turbo model, with only 2 hours of haggling. Time well spent, I'd say. My salesperson was an absolute dream to work with and was very friendly. Brass tax all the way. The place could do with a facelift, which an employee mentioned in passing was in the works. As a service center, I'm sorry to report that I had to take off three stars. Though the advisors appear knowledgeable, the techs appear to lack the finesse that is requisite of a motor company working hard to improve its image. I brought my car in for its first major service after being told that the other, more proximal dealer I've been using for oil changes was trying to rip me off with unnecessary service package extras. INITIAL VISIT I also had an issue with my factory entertainment unit not retaining contact numbers from my phone. They swapped it out, which was nice, but they also scratched up a few of the buttons on my console in the process. One of the techs must have been wearing a metal belt buckle, because I had two dings on the fender right at waist height that were certainly not there when I brought the car in. Being that I have the turbo model, I use full synthetic oil (a hair more expensive), which was conveniently spilled all over the engine bay. The tires were also rotated improperly- unless you have radial tires with a defined direction of rotation, the front driver side is supposed to go to the rear passenger side and vice versa; an oversight I identified due to a minor scratch I was responsible for on my driver side front wheel, which was relocated straight back instead of back and across. FOLLOWUP VISIT After driving the car home and making these observations, I contacted the service advisor and scheduled a followup to clean the spilled oil off my engine bay (the car is brand new, I don't need that yet... let's wait for the gaskets to get old in 70 thousand miles, shall we?) and check a few other things that cropped up due to the last visit. I brought it in and was told not to worry- "the car is new, let's keep it that way." I do a lot of driving for work, and I asked them to change out the oil because it was almost time. They covered my rental, which, in addition to getting new oil, was great. After a lot of small details I won't even mention, I picked up the car. They "washed" it, which is something I usually tell dealers not to do because I'm so particular about my paint. Couldn't have been much more of a hose-off accompanied with a wipe or two from the community oil rag, it looked about the same as it had when I dropped it off, plus a bit of waterspotting on the windshield. I was in a rush, so I left and checked the engine bay when I got home to see how clean it looked. Hah. Not only was there not even the slightest evidence that an attempt had been made to wipe up the original spilled oil, they had added more spilled oil to the mix. All over my intake, airguide, and block. Guys, the oil does a better job IN the engine, not ON it- Especially when I'm forking over a premium for it. If you don't have a steady hand, use a funnel. Poor show. Granted, it could be worse. They could have forgotten to screw the oil filter into the block and left me with a trail of oil that Hansel and Gretel would've been proud of. Happened to a friend of mine; true story. The point is, Kia's trying to up their game and contend with the higher players. Gone are the shapeless, funky and strangely amorphous blobby models of the past. Enter the sharp new lines inspired by the former Audi designer, Peter Schreyer. My Optima has functionality on par with a Lexus or Mercedes. The dealers/service centers need to reflect this change in all aspects if Kia wants that image to prevail. And with that in mind, I hope they do. Because in marketing, a change of image is a massive gamble, and it's an all or nothing move. So come on Kia, get it right. I used to be entirely underwhelmed by Kias. I'd rather not change my mind. read more

No stars (would) be my option. I really wish I would have gotten the guys name in service. Rude, rude, rude! Not sure, but I believe he was the service manager. Asian man in his 50's I'd guess. And with his lack of social skills he should be a night watchman at a graveyard! I had a problem with my Kia that was under warranty and he was claiming it wasn't. I didn't bother going back. Went to another dealership up north and got it taken care of Under Warranty. Then Bought a New Kia!! Sorry, not sorry First Kia!!! read more

It's horrible that I have to give this dealership 1 star! Ugh!!! I went in about a month ago to purchase a + model Kia Soul. I wanted to trade my Volvo...KBB shows trade in abt $7,500. They weren't interested in my Volvo...I was told I couldn't get financed, because I had a BK 2 years ago, I would have to put down cash...was told I couldn't be on the title, that I needed someone with better credit than what I have...my FICO, not great....it's 667. I kept my Volvo or reaffirmed my Volvo through the BK...shows no lates...basically my credit is awesome...I'm on target to get back to an 800... After this BS story that I couldn't get financed, I went to Temecula Hyundai, where I PURCHASED ON MY OWN a 2013 Hyundail Veloster, fully loaded for 3.9% interest rate. Maybe the GM didn't like that I was vaping my e-cig...oh, actually I was told I had to stop vaping, because it smelled...really it's a peach flavor! He should not allow the salespeople to smoke cigarettes...they were the ones stinking up the place! This dealership was RUDE, not helpful and really gives KIA a horrible name!!!! read more

Sal & the rest of the folks were friendly, warm & helpful in getting me take a car home. Ending up buying the car I drove to check out: Ford Transit Connect. Ended up really needing it the next day. I'm really happy with the car so far. Hopefully it will continue to be a solid car. You have to come into any dealership knowing what you can afford & looking for or they will try to get you to buy a car at a high APR & at the sticker price (which might be reasonable), so I would suggest knowing exactly what you can afford & sticking with that. There was some extra charges I wasn't ready for like a 3 year warranty. Don't forget to consider taxes into your budget . read more

I was decently satisfied with buying our first ever car here (well an SUV!) paperwork itself only took 10 minutes and 28 seconds (we were timed so we could see just how fast they really are!) Our guy was Tim. He was extremely helpful! Great attitude, ready to help and made us feel confident in the car we went to see. We had spoken to him via a phone call the day before also and he remembered everything we had asked for. Now the only con is: We didn't notice until the 90 minute drive home was over, but we are missing the drivers side floor mat and the spare key. Obviously this is frustrating as we spent an awful lot of money already. Hoping this can be resolved. UPDATE: Was given an email address and phone number from 'Johnny' from Kia and sadly STILL no replies or returned calls. Will be having to now pay extra for a spare key and missing car mats. Very disappointed to have been treated poorly after what we thought was fantastic service initially. Once they got our money they clearly didn't want to help. read more

1st Kia service and sales is #1. Finding an honest shop where everyone is knowledgeable and puts the customer first is hard to find. Greg Thoma (service manager) and Sang (service writer) are both very pleasant and understand car mechanics inside and out. I have bought 5 cars from this dealer and had all 5 cars serviced. Kia makes a good car and had very few issues with any of them; of course if they are maintained to factory spec. Don't monkey around; meet Greg and Sang and get your car serviced at 1st Kia. read more

I recommend 1st Kia's, Omar Abuzaid, he was knowledgeable, courteous, and did not pressure me. The sales manager was friendly, as well. Firstly, Derrick Shima. Great salesperson, leased me my first Kia which in turn made me a Kia fan. My lease is up next year and I got repeated emails to the effect "we need your car", etc, lower your payments, bla bla. So I came in and Derrick found me a great upgraded model and then the sales manager or whomever came into the picture. I did not expect free upgrades or anything else but this guy came off with a "doing me a favor" attitude and acted as though I was unreasonable. They invited me in to make a new deal and then this guy threw confusion and insult in the mix. Made double talk, obfuscation and old school car tricks part of the equation and utterly wasted my time. I'll be back to deal with Derrick when my lease is up early next year and hope that manager/whatever is not there. I won't be dealing with him, period. read more

Great experience today buying a new Kia Rio! A hard find , but one came in! Our sales consultant, Jonathan, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He took the stress out of buying a car. Thank you Jonathan for an easy transaction and answering all our questions! We love the car! read more

I walked out when the guy who claims to be the sales manager looked at me like the RCA Victor Dog when I asked about the incentive programs. He said "what incentive programs?" When I listed them, he said, "oh, THOSE incentive programs." He said he would check and SUDDENLY came back with the value of those incentives quicker than he could have ever looked them up. When you're at a dealership and they claim poverty, and treat you like a patsy, use up as much of their time as you can with a test drive and negotiation and walk out on them. For a sales manager to give anyone that RCA Victor Dog tilted head look is reprehensible. And by the way, the showroom was EMPTY on the weekend that I was there. The place looks like a run down fried chicken place. Like a used car dealership. The place is an eyesore and the people are shysters. read more

Bad news: My car was totaled. Good news: I had to buy a new car. I decided to check out KIA as they are rockin' it in racing right now! My experience at the dealership was friendly and relaxed. My salesman Derrick Shima was low pressure and accommodating, and his manager Bob Busick immediately found common ground crunching the numbers. When cars sit on lots, tires can get a flat spot and go out of balance. We returned the next day to address this and were attended to quickly by the folks in service, given a ride home and our car was delivered to our front door afterward- If you wanted to be treated well go see these guys! read more

Thank you, Tim Englehart for making my car purchasing experience far from painful. I feel like I have not only gotten a shiny, new car, but I think I have found a friend. Who can say that about their car salesman? I really do miss my Nissan Murano, but I am really enjoying my new Kia Soul. I really appreciate the relaxed, family-like atmosphere at 1st Kia of Simi Valley. I would definitely send anyone I know, who is looking for a car along with a pleasant experience :-) read more

Today I recievied excellent service from the first kia service department. I believe when a business treats you well, they deserve recognition! Chris from the service department went above and beyond today to help me out. I came to the service department as a drop in without an appointment. The low tire pressure warning was indicating it was time for one of the tires to get some more air. I was unable to figure out which tire as I do not have a tire pressure gauge. I was hoping to quickly find out which tire was out of air, and I expected to have to go fill it on my own. Not only did Chris take the time to diagnose which tire was underinflated, he took the extra time to fill the tire for me in an expedited fashion. Blown away today by chris' helpfulness! read more

PSA!! All paint on kias peels off. Worst car I ever bought. My mirror is falling off right now. One time I was driving down the freeway and my mirror just fell off while I was driving. Don't go here. My car is literally falling apart. Buy your moms old Toyota Corolla if you need a reliable car to drive for 100 years. Not a Kia. I had battery issues where my car was literally a ticking fire bomb and I had no idea driving it around. It's just the way they are made. I currently have two recalls on my car yet they haven't taken my car back. And when you get your car serviced here they actually have the audacity to ask you to write a review on yelp before they will give you your paperwork back, so here is my review. If you are looking for a car dealer with integrity and a dealer that puts the customer first, look at 1st Kia of Simi Valley. They went above and beyond other dealers I have experienced to make sure I was satisfied with the choice of car. I put a payment on a used car from another brand and during the final process, we found the car did not have a specific feature that was needed. They made it seamless cancelling the contract with out any hassle or pressure. My partner and I came here to look for a brand new Kia. Our sales person was Chuck. He was very nice and patient. He gave my partner and I plenty of privacy when we were discussing our options and he definitely didn't pressure us. When it was time to try for financing, unfortunately our experience went south. A little history about my credit. I recently cleaned up my credit due to some identity fraud, and therefore it was cleaned up so much that I no longer had any old history, so pretty much no credit history. My partners credit was pretty low as well. Through Experian/TransUnion and Equifax, my credit is in the high 600's; it's FAIR almost GOOD. What I didn't know was that the Auto Industry puts their own spin on credit scoring.Through the V Scoring system, it was 617. So that was a shocker. I think what upsets me is how the finance guy presented it to us. He made us feel like undesirables. He explained the scoring system to us like and proceeded to tell us about his Finance Degree (I have one too). Either way, he acted all annoyed with us after a while and said "I'm pretty sure no one will finance you, but I can still put the application through". Well most finance people that I've dealt with in the past will do their best, I honestly feel he didn't even try. It appears that he likes to work with easy finance folks, instead of with people with less than perfect credit. The last thing he says to me before I left was, " I'm sure we can get you financed for a car worth $10K with like $2k-$3k down. Ummm I don't think so. Either way, I know it's not his decision to get me financing' but I feel that he should work on his customer service skills or the very least his delivery of bad news. Well, I wasn't about to give up! I ended up going to Carmax. The experience was definitely much much better. Not only was I approved for a 2016 SUV with 7K miles, my approved loan amount was $25K at a rate of 4.9 with my less than perfect credit history. How is it possible that the financing companies that he put my application through couldn't approve me, but capital one approved me right away and a few others; however Capital One was the lowest. All in all, Chuck was nice but I walked away feeling low. MANAGER- No need to reply with your usual " Thanks for your feedback, blah blah blah". Just accept the constructive criticism. read more

My experience here was great, despite my being scared to come here due to some of the reviews I read. I honestly didn't think I'd leave with a new car due to my credit and my inexperience buying but a few hours later I drove off the lot with a brand new car that I am already in love with. I bought it at a great price and Marlon and Johnny were both very pleasant to deal with. They also had a ton of cars to choose from. After reading some of the bad reviews, I have to say to the unappy yelpers: do your homework, sell your car on craigslist instead of trading it in, and don't be mad when a dealer won't sell you a car for thousands of dollars less than they paid for it... I helped my GF get 2 cars from them this year. They are good guys and really took good care of me and my GF. Special thanks to Yehuda, Sharron, Michael, Johnny, Ed and the guy in finance who's name I can't remember right now, "sorry". They all worked really hard to get her son into a new Kia Soul +. We never felt pressured, rushed or forced into the deal or the car. This place is not the typical car lot where you find high pressured salesmen that will tell you anything and BS you to sell you a car. These guys worked really hard to not only get us into the car that we wanted, but at a price that we could afford! That is so refreshing. We will definitely go back to them for future car purchases. I can personally recommend this place to get a great deal on a great new or used car. When we took delivery of the car, they had the car washed and the fuel tank filled for us! They encouraged me to just drop the car off and get a persons name! Johnny at 1st Kia took my call and did not hesitate to take the car. He said it'll take 10 mins and it was less than that. I encourage you to go shop for a car at 1st Kia! They are the good guys. read more

Purchased a Kia Sorento at First Kia. Noah Kiedaisch was very pleasant and helpful while choosing the vehicle and becoming familiar with all the features. He knew everything about the vehicles functionality. Once I was the owner, Noah helped me pair my phone and showed me all the UVO system functions. When it came time to finance a portion of the price Johnny went above an beyond to find the best rate. Even stopping us part way through the deal when a better rate came through his system. I really felt like they were on my side. All this was accomplished in only a couple hours and now I am enjoying my new car. Very happy with First Kia and their staff. read more
