Horrible experience. Test drove a car last weekend. Then found the same car different model on the internet that I was interested in. Called our sales guy Mark with the stock number that we were interested in and he gave us the pricing and monthly payments. Totally what I was comfortable with. Drove over within 30 minutes, test drove the new car, filled out paperwork and sat there for over an hour and then suddenly the pricing he quoted me on the phone was for the car from last weekend and not the one I test drove today. Went to 1st Kia of Simi Valley on 09/11/2020... I drove an hour just to get this car here that no one else had in the color I wanted. It was small town feeling right from the first impression. The people were nice and Eddie Portocarrero talked to me first on the phone multiple times before I drove over an hour to get there. He gave me great details on the car and sent me pictures . Once the deal got started it became a team effort and the floor Manager Juan Contreras stepped in to correct an issue with my credit due to the crappy credit bureau reporting. We quickly resolved the problem and we got through the purchase. It was late and the place was closing so Eddy & Juan gave me a Covid bump handshake and showed me to the gate. My last 2 stop by visits with the Service Advisor (Asian guy in the last service booth on the left) had TERRIBLE and rude customer service. On both occasions I drove up to the service booth without an appointment, got out of my car and stood there, and that service advisor would not come out of his air-conditioned booth until I knocked on his door. On the first occasion, a plastic dust cover on the front undercarriage of the car was hanging down and rubbing on the tire. He was annoyed I pulled him out of his service booth, promptly told me it was not a warranty item and would cost at least $500 to repair it, in a very abrupt unconcerned tone of voice. I left, and my 14-year-old son secured it with cable ties from our garage at home. On my second visit last week, with the same service advisor, same thing, he would not come out of his booth until I knocked on the door, and then he acted annoyed that I was taking his time. I told him that both rear brake lights were out, and I was wondering if my boxes of work catalogs in the trunk may have rubbed against a wire harness? He made zero effort to look at my car, just told me a diagnostic fee would be assessed of at least $118, even if it was just bad bulbs. Feeling annoyed at the lack of customer service, I left. The following week, I went to Kirby Kia of Ventura, where I got excellent service. The service advisor there was very helpful, immediately assessed that I only needed to replace two blown bulbs, which I bought there for $12 and he put them in himself for free on the spot. So much for First Kia Simi Valley's $118-$130 diagnostic fee! They lost my business, and I will make the drive out to Kia of Ventura next time I need service, where I am treated with valued respect, diligent attention, and honesty. read more

I asked about an oil change and he seemed less than thrilled to even speak to me about it. The text sent to let me know car was done stated: Hello, car is done. We completed 2 recalls. Thank you. We close at 5pm. Wait a minute, you close at 6 but want me to pick up by 5 so you can get out early. I even questioned him about closing time but he would not give me a straight answer. I purchased a prior KIA from them new and had service done over the years I owned it and never had this poor service prior. Funny thing, when I dropped off the car and picked it up I never saw 1 other customer anywhere in service or sales, yet too busy to even try to sell an oil change. I am incredibly particular about my process when buying a car. I did 10 months of research before I visited a dealership. I ended up negotiating with four dealerships. FIRST KIA IS THE ONLY DEALERSHIP THAT TREATED ME LIKE A CUSTOMER AND NOT A MARK. Were they tough negotiators? Yes. In the end, did I get a fair price on the car and a fair price for my trade? Definitely. They even beat my Federal Credit Union on financing by 2.5%! Jonathon was without a doubt the best salesperson I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He was incredibly patient and kind with my ridiculous process on how I wanted to do things. He was persistent but not aggressive. He was perfect. Wow where do I even start? The staff here is beyond rude they are downright disrespectful. . 1st Kia is just terrible - they're busier than they can handle and instead of expanding to meet demand, they're just letting their employees act like rude assholes to customers. I understand that they are overwhelmed due to the closures of the other two Kia dealerships but that is no reason for them to treat their customers so horribly. When I first leased my car all was well (before the closures of the other dealerships) Cameron who was the sales guy was really nice unfortunately he's not there anymore and I can see why. Twice now I have been treated rudely and disrespected at this place. The first time I came in with a nail in my tire and the guy told me with such an attitude and said they don't deal with tires even though I got an email advertising them trying to sell me tires so obviously they do do tires and he was lying. More recently today my car which is a 2018 Kia Sportage that I've only had for just over a year and has only 16,000 miles on it pretty much almost completely gave out on me while driving on the freeway. I got a warning of a catastrophic engine failure and the car started jerking back-and-forth while I was driving it. I was in the car with my 16-month-old and it was really scary. Luckily I was able to get off the freeway and nothing bad happened. When I called their service department to see if I could take the car in the woman on the phone was extremely rude she basically told me they were too busy for me and that if I wanted to I could sit around all day and wait and see if someone could look at my car when I told her I had a 16-month-old and that just wasn't going to be doable for me she said I wasn't the only one in the world with a baby. Unbelievable the way they talk to people! Shame on you first KIA! I will be reporting this to corporate. I so desperately wish I could get out of my lease I never want to have to deal with these people ever again. It's time for that oil change that you have been putting off! I came in for an oil change and a recall. I had to make an appointment about two months in advance because appointments fill up FAST! I pulled up to the service area and I was quickly greeted by Robyn. She already new my name and was ready. She gave me a estimated time and she texted me updates throughout my wait. It took 3 hours for these services. The oil change was about $42 and the recall was free. They gave me a point inspection and a free car wash. I needed the car wash bad so I was grateful. The lounge is stocked with free water and donuts but no air conditioning or it was at least super weak. There is free wifi as well. But I wasn't going to wait 3 hrs with out air conditioning so I walked across the street and waited at the starbucks. So there are a lot of restaurants around to wait at. Overall Robyn was really nice and the cashier is nice. I appreciated the good service. read more

READ REVIEWS BEFORE WASTING YOUR DAY!!! Made an appointment online to get my car serviced. The transmission slips/ differential slip 99% of the time when accelerating from a stop. My car has 59k miles on it so it's covered under warranty. With that said I arrived to my appointment was greeted rudely by the Asian man who I assume is the service advisor. I explained what was going on and that none of my service lights were on, so they were going to have to diagnose. He said all they could do was diagnose by computer and that if the service lights weren't on, nothing will come up. I told him that would be pointless. He then said I'd have to wait a few hours for a technician to look at my vehicle. I agreed, thinking since I am waiting, someone will actually be able to diagnose the vehicle. I told the man that upon finding out the issue that I would schedule another appointment to bring my car in since it would probably take more than a few hours. "Well we are booking way out into august" ok? And? My car has an issue and needs to be fixed! So he takes my keys and I go to wait in the waiting area. After about an hour and 15 minutes I get a text that my car is done. He said nothing came up on the scan (YOU MEAN THE SCAN WE ALREADY ESTABLISHED THAT WE WERENT DOING BECAUSE NOTHING WOULD COME UP??) and the technician drove it 14miles without seeing any problem. First off you did not drive it 14 miles according to my odometer, straight up lied to my face. I was so heated with this rude man I got into my car and left and what do you know, my first acceleration I felt the "problem" and my entire 45 minute drive home as well. Is it because you are lazy and my problem is covered by warranty that you don't want to fix it? Or that I'm a young woman and you think you can just write me off? I'm not sure how this place is still in business with this man as their "service" advisor.. taking my Kia to the Ventura dealership to have it fixed. This review is in regards to the service department. Unfortunately I had a very negative experience. I brought in my car for a recalled part, and after picking up the car it was noted to have a new issue, with a rattling sound coming from the engine. Long story short: they avoided any responsibility for the problem, made little attempt to help resolve the issue or even set up another diagnostic visit to further investigate, and gave extremely poor customer service. After picking up my car for this recall, I noticed a new issue that was not present before I dropped it off. A few days later, I tried to call the service department on two attempts with no luck (first attempt on hold for over 5 minutes, and second attempt the following day, call was disconnected after waiting for a couple minutes). Eventually somebody reached out to me, and when I brought in the car to be looked at, after an hour wait, the service manager, Guy, had me come in the car for a drive to evaluate. He seemed to change his story multiple times - first saying they didn't touch anything in that area, then saying the sound was a normal sound that normal people wouldn't even notice, but then when the noise was VERY AUDIBLE and clearly couldn't be ignored, he then tried to blame it on me, stating that perhaps I hit something or ran something over to cause the sound. He would just come up with reason after reason as to why they were not at fault for this new issue that coincidentally arose after they had serviced my car for the recall. He then tried to do a visual inspection and pointed at a potential loose knob which he said may have been the issue, and just pushed it in. (Surprise: It did not resolve the issue.) Whether or not this was a problem that they caused, which to me it seems like it was an issue that arose right after their service, any attempt to figure out the problem was not there. The service was very poor and honestly disappointing, especially from the service manager, Guy. To have your customers need to return multiple times, only to receive such poor service is very disappointing. I would not recommend having service done here - would attempt other dealerships for hopefully better luck. read more

First, I get suspicious when I read such negative Yelp reviews about a place of business - whether it's a restaurant, a store, or a dealership. These negative reviews make it sound like the reviewer was tortured or something. I often suspect competitors are posting horrible reviews to bring down their competition. And I believe this may be the case with First Kia. This a small dealership, run steadily by Johnny Kia, the GM. It would not be in their interest to chase off customers. And in fact, we had a great experience. My wife and two kids came in one afternoon to look at the (amazing) new Kia Telluride. Salesman Noah Kiedaisch came out to greet us with a smile, and showed us the car. We test drove the Telluride, and we all loved it! We were just beginning to shop for a new car, and told Noah that we'd get back to him. He gave us his business card, and said to call him, if we're interested. No pressure. Then we went to Car Max and test drove a bunch of cars. We did a lot of research. We called a few other Kia dealerships in SoCal to compare prices and inventory, but First Kia had the exact model we wanted at the right price. We went back on a Sunday, and had an easy and mostly pressure-free purchasing experience. Yes, there was some pressure when Juan (the assistant GM) negotiated the final terms, but that's part of buying a car. In the end, everyone was fair and professional. We drove off the lot happy. A few days later, my son noticed a small hole in the back interior panel (the size of a dime). It was clearly damage during manufacturing or shipping. I came back and showed Noah, who told Johnny, who immediately approved replacement of the entire panel. Easy peasy. Bottom line: Don't believe everything you read on Yelp. Go into First Kia, and make up your own mind. read more

Deeply, deeeeeeply regret buying a car here. They are so dishonest; it's crazy to me that they have such a high average on Yelp. They tell you anything while looking you straight in the eye (I guess kudos for their stone-cold sales techniques) then when you verify, they change their story. Fun fact: Cilajet costs $90, so their markup of $600 is insane, even more when they tell you they will "give it" to you "at cost" of $300. Their extended warranty "at cost" is $830 but marked up to $1800. Sure, they're a business but when they lie to you to convince you that you've made a great deal, that they are making no money on the deal--don't believe them. Sorry, but I will never go back to this place and, the way that they handle things, no one should. I just started to look for a new car since I have a lease and that will be up soon. After doing research I decided that the Kia Sportage was one of the cars that I would be seriously considering. 1st Kia was close to where we live, so we decided to start there. Got there early in the morning and we weren't two steps out of the car when one of the sales people approached us. He asked what we were looking for and I told him that I was interested in the Sportage. On the way to walking to the car we told him that my lease was up soon and I need to find a car that was easy for me to get in and out of due to a medical issue. He said that he had a bad back and that this car would be good. He led us to a new car and opened it up for us and I got in and started looking about. It had leather seats (which I am not a fan of) so I asked if I could get it with cloth seats. He said yes, that he had one over there (waving towards the other end of the lot) somewhere that had it. I then asked him what the difference was between the 2017 and the 2016 model. He said he had no idea what the differences were. I then inquired how long he had been with Kia and he said not long, but he had come from another dealership. It was then that I asked to test drive the car and he said no. He then explained to me that he didn't want to take the time to test drive the car with me if I wasn't planning on buying that day and that he didn't want to miss a potential sale if he left the lot. I got out of the car and he showed me the trunk and how the seats folded down. He then proceeded to tell us his whole work history and, in that time, he could have taken us for that test drive. When I told him that the other car that I was considering, he jumped all over that, telling me that he knew the owner of the dealership in Thousand Oaks that sold that car and that before I go there to call him and he will be able to save me a few thousand dollars by putting us in touch with his friend. At this point I was ready to go, so I asked him for his card. Not cause I would call him, but so I didn't forget his name. Right before we walked inside he said that he would introduce us to the sales manager, but if he asked if we took a test drive to tell him that we didn't have the time today. The manager was on the phone, so we didn't get to meet him and then we left. It needs to be noted that when we got there there was only one other couple looking at cars and, when we left, there were no other customers and three other sales people just hanging around the showroom. The next day I called the dealership and spoke to Bob, one of the managers. Told him everything that happened and he said that if I was interested in coming back in, to call him directly and he would place me with another one of the sales people.. There is no way I would go there, especially after reading the reviews here. This place is a bit shady. Good thing that there are other Kia dealerships in the area and I have already been to one of those. Stay away from this place. read more

A drive i will never mind taking as long as the customer service continues to be as great as it has. Kia makes a good car and had very few issues with any of them; of course if they are maintained to factory spec. They went above and beyond other dealers I have experienced to make sure I was satisfied with the choice of car. I put a payment on a used car from another brand and during the final process, we found the car did not have a specific feature that was needed. They made it seamless cancelling the contract with out any hassle or pressure. At the end of the day, they did not have the car in stock that I needed and I hope to have the opportunity to purchase a car from them in the future.
