Third-rate, amateurish dealership! Went in today to get a warranty service done...I have a letter from Kia that states there is a known problem with the door latches, and they will be replaced for no charge. Another Kia dealership has completed the service for me with no issues--and no charge for diagnosing it. Since I live close by, I thought I'd use 1st Kia for this one. But the service advisor first tries to tell me that the warranty only applies to the rear doors (it doesn't), then tells me I have to agree to a $130 charge merely to inspect them, which, he explains, will not apply if it is a warranty fix. Yeah, I can smell the way this is going...some excuse about how it's a different problem, and I'm out $130 and still have a non-functioning door handle. When I raise an objection, the guy just turns on his heels, goes back into his little room and closes the door. Unbelievable! I've encountered this attitude here before, so really not surprised. This place only cares about draining your wallet, not actually helping you and your car. It may be 30 miles to Kirby Kia in Ventura, but it'll be worth it to be treated properly. read more

I had taken my 2015 Kia Sorrento in for service expecting a rather high bill due to the mileage . Oscar Robles has been my service advisor for several years now and took the extra time to review my past service history (since the car was new - 9 years). He discovered that over the past couple years several of the recommended services had actually been completed but unfortunately not coded accurately. Do yourself a favor and go to another dealer. This dealership needs major renovation. It is filthy. The service department is understaffed. It takes 2 weeks to get an appointment, guess you need more than 2 mechanics ! They have yet to bring back the shuttle service even though the county has declared an end to the pandemic. After having my car for 8 1/2 hours, only one issue was resolved, one issue they didn't have the parts for and the last issue they couldn't diagnose. The issue that the supposedly resolved was something that I had to take my car in 3 times for! I say supposedly as I was told on prior visits that the problem was resolved only to find out it was only temporary. Like the rest of the run down dealership the parts department does not have inventory so a part had to be ordered. I think the issue is my car is under warranty and they would prefer to not do the work. As for the undiagnosed problem I was told the diagnostics did not show an issue. I was told that if this was the case the mechanic would drive the vehicle to manually diagnose the problem (I told them the problem was intermittent). My odometer read EXACTLY the same mileage as when I dropped off my car in the morning so the mechanic did not attempt to address my concern. Definitely not returning to First Ki... The glove box latch broke off in my 2018 Optima. I called for an appointment and was told it would take 3 hours to complete. I told them it could've take more than 10 minutes to replace a simple glove box latch. So I asked so speak with the service manager. He said that part of the reason for 3 hours is they have to perform a full point inspection that I didn't want (car has only 13,000 miles)... He said they were obligated to perform an inspection because California law says they can be sued if something happens to the car after it leaves their dealership. Sir, THERE IS NO SUCH LAW!!! So the manager reached out to me, which I appreciated as his customer service was better than the first person I dealt with. He began to inform me that a Kia certified electrician was at the dealership that day, looked at the car and immediately stated that it wasn't a factory wiring job and had never seen this before. Ok ty, thank you for explaining, and saying a few other things that just made, Zero sense... I took my car to the dealership that that we got it from, all the way to Glendale, and was there for all of 5 mins as they were able to fix the issue and send me on my way. I updated to 2 stars simply bc of the manager calling me and trying to make it right. Guys get second opinions when getting work done in your cars. He said he would share with me the pre-inspection paperwork and a screenshot of a video that showed the missing paint prior to service. Hello from a very happy loyal customer, I recently moved to Moorpark and own a 2017 Kia Niro. I have had my car serviced three times in the past year and all three times Brian your service manager, took really good care of me and informed me what the car needs to stay in great running shape. I am very pleased . Recently I have been having trouble with my door locks and brought the car in to have them fixed. This time Oscar was assigned to me and I must say he is top notch. The Niro just passed the 60k mile mark and is 5 years old. I have the 10 year extended warranty on the car but he informed me the door locks might not be covered by this since it is just passed 5 years. He told me he would write to Kia Corporate and ask for a decision whether they would fix them at no cost to me. Oscar has kept me informed thru text message on the progress and just last friday that Kia would cover the repair. I must say if he is a new employee he is doing a great job and wish my company had people like him. Horrible service center. Rude from beginning to end. Will not return. Not the first time they have been rude. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Went in for routine service. Needed a few other things checked. Wiper fluid reservoir had been leaking, was told at another Kia Dealer it needed to be replaced. They didn't have one in stock, they would order it. I have moved to Simi since then. Relayed the info to service dept. Right away they were rude . We need to check it out ourselves and determine that. That's understandable, but you don't have to be rude and nasty. Come to find out it was a hose damaged by something eating it. They tell my daughter to take it to the dealer that said it was covered under warranty. She never mentioned a hose being covered under warranty, only mentioned the reservoir. Knew nothing about a hose. Got it fixed, $185.00 later and it was patched somehow. They say car is ready, come get it. " They didn't do the actual service it was there for" Really! Will not go back, not the first time myself or a family member has been treated poorly. Horribly Rude people. Would discourage anyone from doing business with them. read more

It was great being able to communication via phone call and text. My service rep on my recent visit was Oscar and he was excellent! He paid attention to what was wrong with my car and ensured that everything got fixed properly for me this time. He was accurate with time estimates and even threw in a coupon that saved me some money on the repairs. I did have a problem in my last visit where the headlights were very dim after they repaired a turn signal that went out, but they fixed the headlights for me this visit at no charge. Overall I've been using this service center for both of my Kia vehicles for years now and only once was I dissatisfied with my experience, all the other times were good and for this most recent visit I'd say even great, so hopefully this trend of greatness continues. read more

Some of the most miserable days of my life have been spent at car dealerships purchasing new vehicles. I hate the whole process, the cat and mouse, the back and forth, the games being played. I F-ing can't stand it! Fortunately I can say that is not what I experienced at First Kia. I have purchased two cars there,a 2011 Optima Hybrid and a 2014 Sorento. Absolutely love both of them. I shopped the hell out of both classes of vehicle and felt that I just got so much more bang for the buck with the Kia brand. Not a bit of buyers remorse on either purchase. In both cases I went in knowing what I was willing to pay for the vehicle, what manufacturer's incentives were available, and what finance options were available to me. Still had to go through an abbreviated gauntlet.., the "let me talk to my manager" thing, and the "here is our fiance manger," but the negotiation on both purchases was very quick and easy, took all of two minutes before we reached an agreement. I knew right where I wanted to be and was willing to walk in a flash. I think that much of my positive experience has to do with my salesperson, Omar. No pressure, very knowledgeable, very respectful, and easy to deal with. If you go in, just ask for Omar and tell him I sent you. He will shave 5 bucks off the MSRP, I promise. My Optima was making a loud klunking noise coming from the steering column. I took it to a nearby mechanic he wanted $1000 to fix it. He suggested checking to see if it was covered under warranty. I had a very positive experience with First Kia service in the past. Greg Thoma, the service manager is great. This time Brian Keelan took care of me. He was very helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. He had estimated 4-5 hours to complete diagnostics and repair. My car was ready for pick up in two hours and was completely covered under warranty. Although there are Kias closer to my house, I will continue to use First Kia for my service needs. read more

It took the service dept here four months to complete a safety recall repair last year, twice they turned me away because they were refusing recall work entirely. When a related problem came up a few weeks ago, their service rep explicitly denied that the work done had come with any kind of warranty. This was proven false - the service rep lied - by Kia's own recall notice. When I brought my car back, warranty notice in hand, they ran me off. The rep insisted on payment and refused to even look at the recall notice, and the service manager Greg went into his best belittling intimidation mode and called me a child, then lectured me for interrupting the end of his long workday. My engine has a fire risk, and these guys care so much about safety that they're willing to ignore both a recall and a warranty in search of payment. Taking Our Business Elsewhere! For years, when we lived in Lincoln, NE and the San Francisco Bay Area, we always took our cars to the KIA dealership because of the excellent customer service we received. Since we've moved to Ventura County we have yet to find a KIA dealership in the area that provides the same excellent service we had grown accustomed too! Our most recent and greatest disappointment was when First KIA of Simi Valley over priced us by approximately $3,000 for a repair after they found out we were in the market for a new car. Not only were we over-priced they also stated we required unnecessary repairs. We can only assume that this was a sales ploy to get us to purchase vs. fix our current vehicle. Luckily, we have a good friend (who works for a well renowned dealership) take a look at our car and fix the necessary repairs at a fraction of the cost. Thankfully, there are honest mechanics out there and dealerships that go that extra mile because they care about customer service and customer loyalty! Next time we have an issue we are contemplating about trying the KIA dealership in Santa Clarita or even L.A. even though will cost us over an hour in driving time! Hopefully, they'll be able to restore our trust in KIA! read more
