We absolutely love our fence. Was installed last November within the matter of just a day. Staff were friendly. Had some minor issues but were resolved very quickly. I'm so disappointed with First Fence. I have been trying for months to get the lock on our gate fixed (installed January 2020). We have used First Fence at 4 properties and referred them to many friends/family. Our sales person has been unresponsive. The office told me the owner was going to come out to address this issue 2-3 weeks ago, and just this week I was told someone would call me back. I'm still waiting. I'm extremely frustrated! I will never recommend this company. I hope this review is helpful to others. They should stand by their work! I would not recommend First Fence. I understand that there are supply chain issues causing delays across all industries but First Fence has lied to me to make a sale and they have not communicated delays or managed expectations whatsoever. I wish I had signed a contract with Freeman Fence instead. We signed a contract with First Fence in March to install an aluminum fence. We chose that material because we were told by our sales guy, Eric, that we would not have to worry about manufacture delays because the company had just ordered and received a "shipping container full of that material". We were told it would be 4-6 weeks to get the fence installed. The price was in line with other companies but the time frame was faster so, regrettably, we chose to go with First Fence. Shortly after signing the contract, I was told it would actually be 8-10 weeks until it was installed because they had a back log of installations from the previous fall. At about the 9 week mark I called to check about an installation date and was informed that our fence would be delayed due to manufacturer delays. I was told they would have the material by mid-June and that once they had it we would not have to wait for it to be installed. They finally scheduled the installation for today, June 27. But as I found out when I called this morning, an hour after they were supposed to be here, that they would not in fact be installing it today due to rain two days ago. They never contacted me about this change in schedule and they were not able to give me an updated installation date when I called. They told me they would have to call back with that information and have not done so in a timely manner. You would think, one day of rain would just push the schedule back by one day. I have expressed my concerns and frustrations to the various individuals in the office since I found out about the manufacturer's delay, which I was told I would not encounter. Every individual I have spoken to has just deflected blame to a different department or to the manufacturer. I sincerely regret hiring this company. read more

Inaccessible, dishonest, poor quality. First Fence dug through a sewer line and filled with concrete without telling us. It was obvious they hit it since pieces of the sewer were found all over. This caused major plumbing backups in our house and damaged our floors. They were not responsive to our calls or emails about the matter. Aside from that, quality of the fence is terrible. Gates are already sticking. No brackets or screws were used. Everything is nailed and multiple nails are loose/sticking out. The cedar is of the cheapest grade and many boards are warped and have factory writing on them. I would recommend selecting a more reputable fence contractor. Selecting First Fence will cause a maintenance and replacement headache and you'll wind up paying significantly more after the fence is installed. read more

Jesse in sales was incredibly responsive and helpful in determining the needs for my backyard fence (cedar scalloped wood), and also helped me through the permitting process with my town's village office. What can I say. Called them on a Thursday and Lisa set me up with an appointment for the following Tuesday. They gave me the 8-10 A M slot and Chris was right on time. We walked the property and talked about replacing posts. This would have been the second replacement project in four years. I asked for a complete replacement price and left Chris to do his work. When he gave me the price for the new fence I jumped right on it. The estimate was detailed and accurate. He applied for the permit that day. Two days later I got an email from Lisa saying they'll be there the following Monday! On Monday two gentlemen showed up and within five to six hours they removed the old fence and installed the new fence and it makes the yard seem newer. I've been an architect for over 30+ years and had to deal with a lot of contractors, but these guys are the best. read more

He made it seem like his company was better then others and refused to offer a quote because I asked for a reasonable price. We recently ordered our fence from First Fence. They came to take down the old fence even though they did not have enough new materials. Now they say we need to wait 4-5weeks for the materials to arrive! Our poor neighbor can't let their dog run in their backyard because there is no fence. In addition, the gate they have installed doesn't close with the latch because of the poor design. Also, the worker cut part of the stone walkway to install a pole of the gate. If we didn't catch it in time to re-do the pole, the walkway was not going to be the center of the gate- it was going to be a very ugly gate! On top of everything, the owner of the company does not respond to our inquiries or give us any solutions for the problems. read more

I am sure the installation and quality are great. However, the communication from the sales manager was terrible. I understand that material from the manufacturer is the problem but there was little communication from the sales person from the start. He lacked project management experience, professional insight and the guts to simply inform his clients. After waiting months for the half of the product, I have called around other fence companies to get their input on the lead times and they were aware of the long lead times and openly communicated directly to me. read more

Years ago, First Fence installed our privacy fence. Our first salesman Jon was wonderful. Our fence was and still is wonderful. Still get lots of compliments. After our install, we had an issue that First Fence immediately rectified. Fast forward a couple years. Jon is no longer with the company. We got assigned to Eric Anderson, who in the beginning was responsive. Recently, we had additional money to add to our fence. At first, Eric Anderson was responsive and asked for photos. After sending the photos, he stopped responding. Very unprofessional. If he doesn't want the small job, at least tell me! Don't ignore my emails. With our original fence, if I remember right, we spent at least $6k and this is how you treat a previous customer! read more

I have used them twice. I went to Home Depot and that is who they sent. I think they are pricey and if I had it to do again would have shopped around. $1400 for a gate and about 27 feet of fence. $1900 for about 40 feet and a gate and customer return discount. My cedar recommended alley fence has deteriorated and bowed in ;sections; flimsy gate. The slats are very rough and looked great one season. It was the one that looks the same from both sides. I would do vinyl a second time around. The salesman was nice, met my schedule, pay in advance and sign an agreement. The second fence they did was much better material in cedar and smooth. It has held up much better and the installers tailored it to fit around my shed and asked me before they installed; called me out during install and had me do a final. They speed set concrete with accelerator and install same day Ask about door hardware to secure the gate. What will it be?? How will it latch? They cleaned up after and showed me what they had done. They will need water, access to electric for nail gun and mixer. The panels are secure and no major issues. Cedar starts out pink and beige and turns grey from elements. They tell you to seal the fence with stain colored or clear. I did neither on my second one and it has held up better than 1st one. Be sure the gap is close to the ground so pets cannot escape. read more

Our fence was installed by First Fence Inc today and we love it!! Dan Buenz did an excellent job explaining what to look for in fence material and installation. We got several quotes before choosing First Fence. We chose the ultra aluminum and even though it's expensive compared to cedar, it's definitely worth it! We have a corner lot so it was important to choose the right fencing material. The installation crew did an excellent job considering they were working in 95 degree weather!! Very professional and cleaned up any mess from the dirt! We would highly recommend them and so glad we made the right choice! Had First Fence take down an old fence and put up a new one several years ago. It looked fine, but this year my handyman was staining it and noticed it was wobbly. After some investigation, several of the posts weren't sunk in concrete they're just in the ground, so they're rotting and making the fence unstable. Not cool. read more

AVOID - We had a new fence installed in September 2021 for our new home. In December part of the fence collapsed overnight apparently due to wind. We spoke to an incredibly rude woman the next day who told us they were too busy with new installs to come repair ours. Thankfully our builder was able to pull some strings and made them come repair the fence otherwise we would have had to wait weeks. We called earlier month to enquire about replacing a cheap locking mechanism First Fence installed and encountered the same rude and condescending woman who basically said to figure it out on our own or "talk to our builder". We paid over $10,000 for a low quality fence and to be treated like dirt when we call for customer support. Would strongly recommend avoiding this company. read more

Once we decided to use first fence it took forever to get them out fir the quote for the black aluminum gate. The price was right so we went with them. I've regretted it since. Yes the installation was good. We've had issues with the paint peeling, the aluminum on the inside where the gates meet. The paint idea bubbling. It looks bad. Brackets keep coming loose. I've been calling them steadily for over 2 months. I get nothing but excuses. Now the owner doesn't even return my calls. Im so sick of talking to them. The customer service is terrible. My warranty is up this month. Im worried now that they will not honor it. Even though I've been calling fir over 2 months. I would never use them again. I would highly recommend NOT using them. First fence installed a wood fence and then a cyclone fence for me. The wood fence isn't even 6 years old and a whole section is rotting and falling down. I called first fence out and their guy said someone behind me hit it. First he said it could be rotted and then said someone hit it. I asked how he knew because he didn't even look at it. He claimed to be a fence expert. He wanted to charge $500 for a post. I was outraged. He said it was $450 for them to come out and $50 for the post. Overall, a positive experience. The salesperson was friendly and knowledgeable and didn't try to up-sell us from the cheapo option we selected. The installers showed up right on time and were hard at work for the 1.5 days it took for our job. Communication after we signed the contract wasn't awesome. The salesperson told that us installation would occur in a week, but it actually happened 2.5 weeks later and only after I called several times to see what was going on. No one from the office ever called to schedule, and the salesperson was always out every time I called to check on the installation status. However, Roberto, the installation manager, returned my calls immediately and was very pleasant. We were very happy with how the fence turned out, and we felt we paid a very fair price. Install fence 3/2017 have had problems every year since, 9/18 part of fence fell nails came out. it took until November before someone came out . Then in Nov. 2020 post in front came out of ground, wood rotten. The Back section of fence they fixed fell again because of wind. I Had several conversations with Sales person and owner John about work. They fixed back fence, then another post in front came out. Was told wood rotten from water would have to paid for repairs. The little fence guys who put up my fence were awesome. They did a really terrif job. The line of the fence is perfect. Problems: The first guy who came to our house for an estimate was a half hour late. Then when he ordered the gate he ordered the wrong size. We were told originally the correct gate would be delivered in 2 days. Now, I didn't really believe that, for it took TWO weeks after signing the contract to get them to put it up. And then, they didn't even nail down the day till the last minute. Well, ok. 2 days comes and goes. No gate. We call and leave 2 messages. No return call. Finally 5 days after the fence was put up the guys came and put up the gate. (no one called us to clarify when they would come) Would I use them again? NO read more

First Fence has honored their lifetime warranty on installation and fixed our fence. My wife took the initiative and called, and was contacted quickly. Appointments for an assessment and re-installation were subsequently made, and on last Thursday a team of installers arrived to make the necessary repairs. As it turns out, the installers who did the original install failed to prepare the posts for installation by drilling holes through them to allow for concrete to rest inside the post as well as around it. Also, it appears as if there was no concrete used on at least one of the poles. Regardless of the reasons, the fence has given me fits since it was installed. Fortunately, First Fence has come through, and did an excellent job on correcting the problems realized from the original installation. The crew took the time to explain what they were doing to both my wife and myself, they took an eyesore and made it look good again, and most importantly, they did so in a professional manner.
