I recently contacted First Class Heating and Air Conditioning (FCH&AC) after contacting two "Carrier Factory Authorized" repair facilities in my neighborhood (North Upland) and receiving what seemed to be ridiculously high quotes for my HVAC repair. I had priced the replacement parts online and knew exactly what the parts would cost. Both "Carrier Factory Authorized" repair facilities had tacked on an extra +/- $ 1000. or so, likely sensing my urgency (desperation) to have the Carrier unit repaired during a brutal cold spell and priced the repair accordingly. This is not a good business practice if you want repeat customers. I had worked with FCH&AC seven (7) years ago on a HVAC installation project for my previous employer. At that time the quote provided by FCH&AC was highly competitive and the installation of two (2) HVAC units was flawless. I immediately reached out to Matthew at FCH&AC. He arrived the following morning, diagnosed the exact same issue that the "Carrier Factory Authorized" repair facilities had identified in less than ten minutes, and provided me with a firm/binding quote that was more than $ 1,300. less than the two (2) quotes provided by the "Carrier Factory Authorized" repair facilities. This was a very significant savings. In less than three hours: he had the required parts in hand; he had replaced the failed components; and he had successfully tested the HVAC unit. Due to footprint changes in our kitchen remodel, we had an open AC duct in the floor that needed to be sealed off before flooring could be installed. My son got married 4 days ago so I totally forgot we needed to solve the problem ASAP. Today the floor installers were scheduled to arrive at 8:30 a.m.! But it's August, busy AC season! And this is a small project... would someone be available & willing to come out? Immediately? Extremely fast response. I requested a quote at 6am and received a response within minutes, and was able to schedule an appt the same day. Technician arrived early and diagnosed the problem pretty quickly. I had two AC units with issues, and one they were able to fix by charging the Freon. The other will need replacement. I own a condo in Claremont as rental property. On Wednesday July 11 2018 my tenant informed me that the air conditioner was blowing hot air. I called several companies for emergency service. I contacted Home Depot -Rite Time air conditioning service they quoted me $12,000 for a new system without checking the roof of the unit. I also contacted a company Air Tro out of Duarte. Is there a way to give 10 stars?!?! Last night my husband shorted out the AC fuse in the attic. We were installing the nest and forgot to turn off the breaker. Long story short our home warranty company said it would take 2 weeks for someone to get out here to fix it. Its 100+ degree weather this month, we can't handle 2 weeks of no AC. Hubby called the first person on Yelp he could find, it was very random. We ended up calling First Class Heating and Air. First class is how we were treated. When my ac stopped working - at first I though SCE was just turning it off for a few hours/day so I can get the special rate. But finally realized it was my ancient unit, not SCE. I called First Class at about 8:30, owner Matt came by soon after and said we needed a new fan. When they came out Matthew was very thorough in explaining what was going on with our AC unit and how it needed additional Freon in order to produce colder air. I am so unhappy with the service received! Our air conditioner went out. It was over 100 outside and my mother who has dementia and is on an oxygen machine lives with me. I needed the AC fixed right away because she's mostly bed ridden and I couldn't take her somewhere to get her out of the heat. I used First Class and was charged $400.0 because it was the same next day service and first am appointment. He was only here for 10 minutes it took him about 3 minutes to put in. He says this part gets changed all the time. He had like 70 on his truck because they are going out for everyone. It was a super simple and standard job. My cousin had the same problem with her AC to her on the same day. She has a little one and needed her AC fixed right away, same problem. She used another company and was only charged $187 and that was with a Holiday extra emergency fee. Big difference. I paid way too much. I'm really disappointed and feel taken advantage of because I was desperate. I highly recommend calling around and going with someone else. He had fixed the same thing for my mother when she lived alone for $200.00. Out of curiosity I looked on youtube and saw that it would have been easy for me to fix it myself and would have only cost me $10 in parts. Well I did not have the same experience that others have posted here. I had Matt the owner of first class replace my AC and have had problems with it ever since. He says he stands by his work but wants to charge for any repairs that needed to be done with in the warranty. I had to report him to the BBB and he did not respond to them ether.
