In the middle of this intense summer heat, unfortunately, our AC unit broke down. We called many…read moredifferent HVAC companies desperate to get it fixed. While some responded and even came out to see what the issue was, the all were quick to tell me old unit had seen better days and there was nothing they could do but to get it replaced. I couldn't help but noticed how quickly the service tech converted to a sales person, offering me and quoting me over a 10K for a new unit. Obviously, my wife and I were not ready to dish out that kind of money just like that, so we decided to get a second or even 3rd opinion about it. We contacted Northstar, and David (the owner) took my call, and immediately arranged for a technician to come to our rescue in the middle of weekend. Ivan showed up and he took his time to go over every single possibility of what may be issue. He noticed we owned an older unit but did not mentioned it as the issue. Instead, he just focused on how to get it up and running again. After a thorough examination and while having a great chat, he discovered the root cause, some work from before had installed wrong and unnecessary parts to our unit and therefore had caused diminished performance to the point of breaking. He performed his miracle and was able to fix not only our AC unit but also stop our entire family continue to roast inside the house. The entire Northstar team was excellent! From David the owner taking my call, to Tamara taking my information and setting up an immediate appointment, and finally Ivan, who gave our AC unit another chance to breathe. However, I had an appointment for 8:00 am, the technician called at 8:00 and said he had to take his son to practice and it would be 8:30, for me no worries cause I was accommodated and I understand about kid sports. So 8:30 comes no show get another phone who states" your technician will be there in 20 minutes, again no problem I understand. The technician Benny arrives at 9:00 extremely preoccupied, rushing through the repair comes in and ask the age and cost of my machine saying I needed a "hard start kit" for my compressor. So I questioned what was that and how of the machine is only 5 years old and is my compressor still working. He was snippy and rushing for me to answer to spend 750 without giving any type of detailed information, when we kept asking questions his responses were I have been doing this for 20 years and I am the owner. Upon looking it up online it said it was a temporary fix, so I asked Benny regarding that information and his response was it will last 5-20 years. Then he proceeds to keep asking do you want me to order the part and have someone put it in cause I have other appointments and "I get paid per hour". We asked him did we have Freon or were the fuses good and Benny answered yes. When I declined he asked for payment for the "repair service and kept on insisting I give him my credit card so he can run in it on his personal cell phone and not a company. So I was adamant about Zelle and when I requested the information he kept speed talking the information was lost in translation which only delayed him more. Zelle finally went through once I got the correct email address. After he left my home I called my appliance repairman to see if he can explain what the hard start kit was and would it be a lasting fix. He advised that doesn't sound right and made an appointment to come and check it out. My appliance repairman showed up checked my AC and discovered it was the fuse that needed replacing which only cost me $100 and I immediately had cold air. Do not use this company Benny is a scammer.

They arrived right on time, worked efficiently, was very considerate of our home, they wore shoe covers, laid out floor coverings and made sure to vacuum all debris caused by the install. They left the house the same way they found it. AC is blowing great n ow. In and out like nothing happened. AC is whisper quiet. Quality and speed of work was amazing. They completed the entire install in 5.5 hours which was quite amazing. 10/10 would still recommend for your A/C needs.
