Last summer, our air conditioning would stop blowing cold air during the peak of the day and the house would get up to 90° inside. We tried other companies who put on boosters and replaced motors and eventually wanted to charge us $10,000 for a new air-conditioning unit and an upgrade to our furnace claiming all were out of date even though they were replaced about seven years ago. I called Bill and he arrived promptly and within a day recognized that the wrong motor was installed, got me the right motor, helped me understand the need for added airflow with a project that I can do myself, and charged me a fraction of what the other company tried to upsell me and basically screw me with. During the recent Excessive Heat Alert, my YORK Air Conditioner/Furnace Blower motor failed. I called a highly recommended 4.8 Star rated repair company on 25 AUG, they sent a tech out the next morning. After about a 3-minute inspection of my unit, he advised me that the motor capacitor was ok, but the motor itself had apparently failed. He mentioned that my YORK unit was vintage, but that he'd try to find a YORK replacement motor. On Monday, 29 AUG, l tried calling the service tech, and found-out from the main office, he had taken the day-off. By the fifth day STILL no parts the tech called & advised me that YORK doesn't "make" the blower motor any longer, and he will try to order one from somewhere in Texas. Further, it would take (14) days to make it, & ship it. In this heat, with a heat-soaked house, with an interior temp of 94 degrees (at night), - l had to locate another source for help. On the 6th day without AC, l reached/out to a nearby Rancho Cucamonga contractor, Bill's Heating & Air Conditioning. Making this call to Bill was the BEST decision l had made regarding this broken blower-motor situation. By the next morning , Bill and his crew arrived at my house, and within (30) minutes had removed and disassembled my blower-assembly. When l related my experience with previous AC service company, Bill was aghast. First, Bill relates that just about all AC/Furnace manufacturers do not make their own blower-motors, but buys motors from subcontractors, similar to Ford diesel trucks using Cummins Diesel for their truck engines. YORK didn't make or design any blower-motor units, they utilized outside vendors. Why is this important? Because, a YORK blower-motor assembly is NOT exotic, but can be EASILY & QUICKLY serviced. Bill had a U.S. MOTOR variable HP motor in stock on his service truck. He had my unit back in service in less than (60) minutes! Bill couldn't understand why my previous "experienced" (so that tech told me), didn't possess that basic knowledge about AC & Furnace electric-motor units. Bill's very knowledgeable and experienced having been in the business for more than (40) years. He cones across as humble, but yet a very proud professional individual. His rates are fair, and very competitive when compared to my previous contractor. It his fairness in price, his technical knowledge and experience that will make me a firm customer of his company for years to come. Bill is in a totally separate category than any other HVAC technician I have ever known, and I've known a lot of them. Bill is a master craftsman who sincerely loves and is passionate about his work. His lifetime of experience and knowledge is beyond compare. We have a 1972 Day and Night package unit (air conditioning and heat) for our workshop and rec room. They just don't make units like this anymore, and it has worked virtually trouble free since it was installed in 1972. The only repair during all those years was when I replaced the motor in the late 1990s. This year, 2022, the old compressor finally died, rusting out from the bottom, and there were several other problems. Any other HVAC company would not even think of repairing this classic unit. Problem is that the newer units are too large and will not fit in our particular situation without major cutting to some features of the house and relocation of ducting, another AC unit, and concrete pad. When facing this issue, Bill suddenly got this gleam in his eye, and said in his wise, reflective voice, "You know, it might be kind of fun to take the unit to my shop and completely rebuild the whole thing, not a band aid, but a total restoration." I could not believe my good luck to have a craftsman of this level taking that kind of creative interest in our predicament. He started getting more excited about the project talking about how he could find a new compressor from companies that claim they don't have any and all the other details. Bill is in extremely high demand for obvious reasons, so he told me he and his assistants, Austin and Dylan, would be working on the restoration during the weekends and their off hours. During that time, Bill sent me frequent progress photos on the project. A little more than one month later, Bill returned to reinstall the unit. He replaced every single major component and all the copper lines, relays, wiring, everything! He even repainted the exterior cabinet and restored all the metal ID markers containing model and serial numbers. The whole project reminded me of a classic car restoration. Bill is equally thorough and responsive for smaller jobs. The first time I hired him was just to clear some clogged condensation lines. He went above and beyond on that too. Bill is a perfectionist with decades in the business. He is mentoring a couple of fortunate apprentices, Austin and Dylan. Bill is insightful, has had a fascinating life so far, and is, therefore, also really great just to talk with. Bill and his staff put many hours into this project. Some years ago the air conditioner on my home (not purchased through Bill's H & AC) malfunctioned less than 3 months after the five-year warranty had expired. Bill intervened and convinced the manufacturer to honor the warranty, saving us major expenses. This winter during one of the coldest periods (isn't it always that way ?) the house heater for a 60 year old rental in Alta Loma simply burned out and was "red-tagged" by the Gas Company. Within a couple of days Bill removed the old heater and installed a new one. The tenants (and I) were thoroughly pleased that he was able/willing to complete the work as promptly as he did. We have used services by Bill a couple times, and he does not disappoint. I'm hesitant to give a 5 star review because that'll make my wait for Bill even longer! But he definitely deserve the rave reviews here. It's always tricky finding someone who you can trust in the service industry, since they have much more knowledge than the consumers. I find Bill to be trustworthy, high integrity, reasonably priced, and man of his word. Our first project was to reconfigure the duct work in the attic because some of the rooms are colder than others. Bill advised us on the route of ductwork and gave us pros and cons for different options. In the end, we went with his suggestion and we're so glad that we did. The rooms are much more balanced and more comfortable than before. Second project was AC replacement. When we called, there was a two week wait... rather than finding another company to fix it immediately, we were willing to wait for Bill in SoCal summer weather. Good thing the weather god was nice and gave us cooler weather in the mean time. Bill evaluated our old AC first, and recommended us replacing it for various reasons. Unlike other companies where they try to maximize profit and would upsell, Bill didn't. He recommended us keeping our furnace since it's newer and suggested that we replace AC only. Him and Johnny were out here for a day and half, the work was excellent and extremely detail oriented. Johnny re-did the electrical work three time before he's finally satisfied with how it looks (neater line). They painted the new duct to be the same as the house so it's as if nothing is there. On top of his professionalism, Bill is a super nice guy... very observant and points out things that's beyond his scope. He warned us of a old rusty pipe in the attic, which we later got a plumber to work on. You can't go wrong with Bill... but you just made my wait for him even longer. read more

Bill found a misaligned igniter factory defect in our furnace causing the igniter to attempt to light 2 times each cycle. He took the extra time to disassemble the mount and align the igniter so that it would light up first try each heat cycle. Extending the service life of our gear. He charged no extra fee for this. He could have just replaced igniter and left the defect mount alignment. But he cares and fixed it. Heater is working great and we feel much safer now. Thanks Bill, you're the man! read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU CALL ANY AC VENDOR TO YOUR HOME August 3, 2023 Today I had Mr. Bill (from Bill's Heating & Air Conditioning) come to my home to service my 3-year-old AC unit as it was not functioning properly. My home was very hot, and I needed someone to fix it. Mr. Bill came in and asked me and my husband a few questions of the problem we were experiencing and quickly went to fix the problem. Not only did he fix the problem, but he showed us where the problem was. He was very professional and pleasant. He spent approximately 45 minutes to a hour and the problem was resolve. It should be noted that prior to Mr. Bill coming to my home I had three other AC vendors come to my home and provided outrageous quotes for services that were not needed. One even wanted to sell me a new AC unit. The bottom line is there are still a few service provider professionals that work with integrity and Mr. Bill is one of them. Bill, seriously has a heart of GOLD! I called him yesterday morning after trying about 5 other AC companies to see if anyone could come to my mom's house that same afternoon because her AC had gone out it was 86 degrees in her house. Everyone else said that the soonest they could come out was 2 days from now or next week.... this was after explaining that she is 94 and lives on her own. I found Bill on Yelp and he had 5 star reviews. I left a voice mail indicating the issue and asking for a call back. He immediately called me back and although he had a really busy schedule, he squeezed us in for 3:30 that same day. He texted when he was on his way and even provided a GPS tracker so we could see his arrival time and where he was. Bill and Austin arrived, with PPE and both were extremely friendly and professional. He quickly diagnosed the issue (bad compressor capacitor), replaced it along with the filter and the fan capacitor at our request. We were pleasantly surprised by what he charged us......very fare in our opinion.
