Stumbled upon this bar after a friend and I didn't feel like paying $20 to get into a very empty Arcadia Blues Club and I'm sooo glad we decided to check it out. It's a small true rustic dive bar with a very relaxed atmosphere but is also very clean and not run down. The crowd seems generally older but I'm not a party music/atmosphere kind of 25 year old at all so I felt comfortable anyway. It was a Friday night and they had this incredible blues band playing that apparently plays there every weekend, so I'll be coming by more. Don't expect to be waited on, just go up to the bar and ask for your drink. The drink prices and the pours are great! First time getting a glass of Woodford Reserve neat and filled to the rim. Great little bar. Locals and strangers from the hotels around town. The band that plays here Rocks to Jimi, ZzTop, Rolling Stones, The Blues, and I even heard an INXS song in the set. This bar is not just an old dive spot, its a community. Now When I read some of the negative reviews, I could not help but laugh. This is not the type of bar you come into expecting to be served or attended to like a child. This is a grown up bar. I love all the bartenders because they have personality and know their stuff. The bar is busy any time of the day, so sometimes its good to take the initiative to head to the bar and order your drink. Friday and Saturday Night are the most popular because of Pat o ' Brien and the Priests of love. I love the band they are so talented there's 3 of them and it sounds so full. Prices are great, I would consider myself a regular as well as my own parents. We make first cabin a weekly spot because of the ambience. I would 100% recommend this bar to those who value good conversation and laughs. read more

This place has a good vibe. Live music with a pretty cool band. Very diverse crowd - any one is welcomed here and I mean anyone. Still, a great place to hang out with your friends, have a few beers and maybe catch some hot ladies walking by. We would definitely come back again. Came here after dinner next door at Hot and Sweet Chicken. Ehh this place was just a typical dive bar. The band was loud! They sounded good, but it was too loud for a small place like this. Place was clean though and the restroom was clean (women's). I wished they had more liquor and the bartender would be more tentative, but it was difficult to talk & hear from the loud band. The First Cabin has been around for years and not much has changed. The owners keep the place clean and well maintained and the bathrooms are always clean (bonus points) Low prices on all drinks beers are $3-$5 when there is no band playing, the prices increase when a band is playing on Wed-Sat. night Mixed drinks are poured very strong, two drinks and I'm done. LOL It is a small narrow bar which gets loud and crowded on the weekends (standing room only). The only negative is the bartender Bobby who works Wednesday- Saturday nights. This is an "Old School" joint that is kinda divey. It gets 4 stars 'cause the House Band is rockin', they play covers of blues standards and rock classics. I remember going in there a couple of times 15 years ago, I think it's the same band! If you go on the weekend the place is pretty packed. It's like most dives - deeper than wide, and the bar run down one side. Sort of an awkward placement of the stage by the front door makes for a crowded entryway. The clientele is a pretty local, wide mix drawn in by the tunes. It's tight but If you find a table its OK. Again, it's the music... Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday awhile ago and looks like a typical dive bar, but quite small (narrow). It was a week night so it was pretty empty but it was chill. A couple of my friends come here often enough to know the bartender well enough to chit chat and such. Crowd was mostly Caucasian, which was surprising since it's located in Arcadia, which I've nicknamed "Little Taiwan". After driving five and a half hours from the bay area, Steph S. and I were so happy we stumbled upon First Cabin Bar. Why? 1. On Thanksgiving Day, (almost) nothing was open before 11am. This bar, however, already had a few people throwing back beers, cocktails, and shots. (Hey, it's 5pm somewhere in the world!) 2. It's located a few blocks away from Boiling Point. So for all you AZNs that are looking at an one hour wait before lunch or dinner, drop by to kill some time! 3. It is an older crowd, but everyone seems really chill. Ain't nobody got time for sleezes, creeps, or drama queens. It is a dive bar, by the way. 4. They have a couple of TVs, so it's a great place to catch a game. Thank you for being open so we could watch the morning Thanksgiving game! 5. Bartender (maybe the owner? I forgot his name. :( Boo.) was super chill. He even made tamales for everyone! 6. And last, but not least... $4 beers. That's right! Four. Dollar. Beers. Sure, they're in bottles... but $4! (Can you tell I'm still in shock and can't get over this fact?) I've been going to the First Cabin since 1994 and it continually rocks. Although it's been awhile since I've been, I know that it will always be cool with Priests of Love!! And the drinks are knock-out in every sense of the world. We were so hammered once that we stepped out and brought In and Out Burgers for a least 35 patrons,well.... just because....it was wayyyy too much fun. Although the parking lot is miniscule, you can alway use the bank next door's parking lot, just get there early for a cool seat and parking space. Really, when you're in Arcadia, don't miss it on Huntington Drive at Santa Anita...a block going west toward the Santa Anita Race Track. read more

Great bar in a town full of good bars. Smoking is allowed because the owner Bobby works there as a bartender. He used to be an exercise rider at Santa Anita and has many friends from the track that frequent the bar. Pat O'Brien has been playing there for 19 years straight and is truly a guitar slinging legend. Bobby pours a good strong drink at the right price. Call it for $4 until the band starts and $5 after the music is playing. There is no cover charge ever. Thursday is the unofficial locals night and the place is packed by 8:30. read more

Okay, I have to change that to the "BEST BAR IN THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY." :) I'm a local and I haven't stepped foot in any other bar in the area since I discovered First Cabin a couple of years ago. The place has a lot of history with pictures of jockeys and locals everywhere and seems to draw a pretty diverse crowd.
