I am a new gun owner- my first gun was purchased in person at the Firing Line a few days ago. They were great. Small caveat- they are not too cool on the phone, even if you can get through- but I guess they don't have time for telephone tire kickers, especially on weekends. In the store on Thursday, I worked with Dave and explained to him that I knew nothing much but at least had taken the required course to get my CCHP. He was empathetic to the fact that there was not much available in the hot 9mm Glocks and Sigs that I was looking for- he was neither arrogant nor rude like the other gun stores in the Denver area that I had visited earlier. They had looked at me like I was a moron for even having the nerve to ask. I also do understood that Dave and the Firing Line staff would have loved to have hundreds of the hot guns on hand as that would have translated in to $$ for the store. This is business 101. He asked me questions about my needs and for my first gun we decided on a Walther P22 and I could not be happier. The background check took less than an hour and I walked out a very happy customer and feel that I now have a place to go where, even if I am not buying that day, I can shoot at their range and chat with the guys. Dave and his team made me feel like a welcomed guest and a valued customer even though my entire purchase after 2 hours in the store was under $600.00. The worst gun store in the Denver Metro Area. Walked in with a holstered firearm, they wanted me to unholster a loaded firearm in their store, while they are walking around with holstered firearms!. That almost made me walk out then and there, but I wanted some range time since it had been awhile. Went into their range, hot as hell. The guy next to me had a little girl with him. I hear, "No sweetie don't point it that way, you might hurt someone". Left the range as soon as possible. On the way out, I saw they had a nice selection of Benchmade knives. I asked to look at a balisong. I soon got a lecture about the legal status of balisongs in Colorado, like I don't know. This was a $300 + knife, and the salesman tried to argue with me on the legality, and I told him that was my problem and none of his business. I still got attitude after that. Totally condescending. Needless to say I didn't make a purchase, and was sorry I stepped foot in the dive. Will never spend 1 cent in the place again. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY other gun store in Colorado. Go to ANY other gun range, even if you have to drive across town in rush hour. You will at least have a chance to find a better store and range than this dive. read more

Have used them once to transfer a weapon that I had purchased, they were quick to call me when it arrived, very informative of the process to expect and they stuck to it. Priced right compared to other transfers that I have experienced. Plan to use again. Facilities are clean, good selection of firearms. Was referred to a great gunsmith in the local area which has turned out to be a very positive experience. Staff has always been helpful, they don't crowd you when you are just browsing, but ready to answer my questions. Yes, they wear guns and they should. Mixed reviews based on mixed experiences. Two weeks ago I came in and had a great night. The guy behind the counter (older gentleman) was excellent. Made us feel at home and comfortable shooting at a new range, and was super knowledgeable. Being former military I don't really care, but it was welcoming and nice for those I was with. Tonight I walk in and can't rent a weapon (wanted to try something new) as a single shooter because of "range suicides" which, trust me, having two people on a line won't change anything if one of them is motivated enough to do it...so I have to wait. Yet he has no problem letting the two people in front of me who professed to being new at everything about shooting, take guns and bullets and head right out. The last guy accommodated military folks and this one doesn't seem to care. I'll be looking elsewhere after tonight. Plenty of ranges have ladies nights...this was a super disappointment after the first experience here. read more

I've been going here for a while and it's always been an average gun shop. The last time I was there I waited at the range desk for 30 plus minutes before anyone came by. When they finally took my ID to add me to the wait list they left it on the counter for anyone to see or pick up. I was told it'd be a while so I started to walk around the store looking at various items. It was at this point I overheard the sales guys up in the front making fun of someone with Down Syndrome. A few weeks ago I went in to ask about a pistol I was interested in purchasing. I mentioned that I hadn't been shooting in a long time but they had the type of pistol I was interested in for rental. They suggested I rent it and see how it worked for me. I didn't have time but I returned recently to try it out. I had my own ammo but as I was filling out their release form they told me I couldn't use my own. Disappointing but understandable -- they don't want some unknown ammo being shot through their guns. As I was completing the form they informed me that I needed someone else over 21 to accompany me. Absolutely ridiculous! Why?? Company policy go talk to the manager. I asked the manager who happened to be just standing their chatting with another employee when there was a good 12 customers waiting, and while looking down his nose said 'that's our policy' and offered no explanation when prompted. If someone can give me any logical reason for this I'd appreciate it. What exactly is a second person going to do if I (we) decide to steal, kill ourselves or go on a rampage? Are they looking to get more money out of a second person? It's not like they have a range that's conducive to multiple people per lane. BTW if you bring your own gun, you don't need a second person. WTF? They just lost a lot of business as I was going to buy there. read more

I'd been to Firing Line to target practice and had bought a holster there. I decided to use them as a FFL transfer from a gun I purchased on line. Gun was delivered 2 day USPS to Firing line from seller. I called and asked when I could visit and do the paperwork and take possession of the gun. This was on a Friday. I was told by employee that the General Manager was the only person who could "put me in the system" and that he wasn't there that day. I gave my name and phone # and was told I would be called when I was "in the system". I called Saturday and asked if the General Manager would be in that day. I was told he "didn't show up today." I asked if anyone else could get me "in the system" and was told flatly "no." I expressed doubt that no one else was authorized to help me get the gun. He said " We're busy and we'll do it (and I quote) "when we get around to it." Wow. Some customer service. I called again Monday and was told the General Manager "didn't show up today". I e-mailed the seller of the gun and expressed my disappointment in Firing Line and maybe he contacted Firing Line because when I called AGAIN Tuesday, I was put in contact with another "manager" named Chris who said that I was now "in the system" and I could come pick up the gun. I picked up the gun and left ASAP. I overheard that the General Manager was on vacation from the guys behind the counter. There was some mumbled apology about the system "being down." Sure. I was going to buy 3 holsters for 3 different handguns I own, a good gun belt and was going to use their range to fire my new pistol. Instead I just left and will spend the money elsewhere. Firing Line lost me as a client and I cannot recommend this place to you. There are plenty of other places where "customer service" means something. read more

First visit to this range. Will not go back or recommend it to anyone! Price was lower than other ranges I have been to in the area, but you get what you pay for. Very poor ventilation and rude staff. Staff even made a comment when leaving that I could not take brass out of the buckets. Thing is, the bucket I took from was one I had been filling the while shooting; therefore, all I took was my own brass! I would say the owner needs to invest in training their staff in good customer service! read more

This place is luckily right by my house, so I try to get over there as much as I can. The staff is very knowledgeable, and I have to make a special mention of Dave. He assisted a friend of mine in selecting his first handgun, and I was so impressed that I came back later to have Dave run me through the same paces when looking for a replacement for my Sig. The other people I have talked to there are far from friendly, so I'd make a mad dash for Dave once you hit the front door. They could easily add 10-20 lanes and still be full, but at least they wouldn't have to turn away so much business. Also a rife range would be nice, but due to the geographic location of the building (it backs directly to I-225), it would be near impossible to install a decent rifle range. read more

Good range, very knowledgeable staff, great selection. Their prices on new guns are always below MSRP, unlike any of the other stores I have been to. No other range in the Denver Metro area (as far as I know) has a Ladies Day! Ladies pay no range fee all day on Monday. The place just plain rocks. read more

After reading the incredible variety of reviews, I was expecting to be underwhelmed. I mostly came in for the range, as it's fairly close to me, and a lot less expensive than most other gun ranges in Denver. I came on a Wednesday, early afternoon, and I pretty much had the range to myself. The facilities were clean, well lit and ventilated. The target tracks were digital, with a number of pre-set positions. They didn't give me a hard time about my ammo, or try to upsell me on targets. The cost is $14.00 plus tax, so call it $15.00. I didn't qualify for any discounts, but it you do (police and military) it's even cheaper. They don't bug you about time, and the rules are all the usual 'don't be a dummy' gun range rules. After shooting (as an aside, man do I need practice!) I wandered around the shop, mostly looking at the hand guns. They have a large and varied selection, and the prices on new guns are right in line with your average gun-shop. They also have quite a few guns on consignment, and those prices ranged from good to excellent. I should explain my 5 stars: this place gave me exactly what I asked for, with no fuss or hassle, and at a better than average price. I know that a large shop like this, and especially in the gun world, can have employees who are arrogant, obnoxious, or both. Of the four people I dealt with, they were all courteous, professional and pleasant. As with all reviews you have to take this with a grain of salt, but my experience here was great. read more

Good selection of new firearms. A few used and usually abused guns. Decent selection of accessories for a small gun store. Many employees on staff. This is a very busy shop however so actually getting help can be slow. Range is well set up and they have many rental guns. Last time I checked they didn't have any small frame pistols to rent. Small frames don't hold up as well to the thousands of rounds they see a month. So not the place to compare and shoot small ccw guns. Biggest issue, not completely the fault of the firing line, is that they get too many inexperienced shooters on the range. Last time I went 2 girls asked me for help on loading and operating a rental pistol. They were trying to figure out how to load it in the staging room between the sales floor and the range. They had never even held a gun before and were clueless about basic gun safety. As far as I know the firing line doesn't do any real vetting of shooters (i.e. are you an experienced shooter?). They do have a liability waiver. So sadly I'll would avoid this range unless you don't mind put your life in someone else's hands. Still 4 stars as it's a good gun store. Prices are typical of small gun stores (i.e. much higher than online). read more

I've never had any issues with this company. They are fast and friendly. If you have questions they have answers. Yeah, down fall is only hand guns for the range. Not a deal breaker. They keep the place clean. And usually stocked. Only time I've seen them low on fire arms is when the "gun rush" happened. They will continue to have my business! read more

Stopping by to give my 2 cents on this establishment. I specifically wanted to leave kudos for Dave who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful to me on 1-30-12. He took the time to walk me through, and let me examine just about every .40 they had in the shop to find the right fit and feel for me. He was very patient, and never once did I feel any kind of high pressure sales vibe from him. I highly suggest dealing with him on your next trip there. That being said, the shop itself has a wide selection of handguns, and fairly priced ammo for the range. I haven't been on the range for a few years but, I was told that it was recently renovated. I plan to go put a few rounds down range tomorrow, so I will review and give my thoughts on what I see. In short this is a very nice shop with excellent staff and fair prices. read more

My wife and I I have purchased three guns from The Firing Line and we always find the staff willing to take the extra step to ensure we understand the nuances of the gun, along with their recommendations. I prefer a straight up approach, and I find the staff always willing to give their candid opinion of a product. I like the firing range itself, and usually have no more than a 10 or 15 minute wait for a lane, if that. I highly recommend The Firing Line to newcomers to the gun world--they will become well-educated very shortly after speaking with any of the staff. read more

I bought a membership to the shooting range as the member side is much nicer than the public side and no waiting also the membership is a fair price. They have a good selection of guns. Some of the staff are OK to deal with but I have walked out and bought online when I had every intension of buying at the store , you just need to find the one or two good counter people then its a plesant transaction but over all a good gun store. read more

The Firing Line is a solid shooting range. Nothing fancy but nothing to complain about either. The staff is helpful even when you keep shooting the target clips off... The prices are reasonable and you can shoot for as long as you'd like. I prefer going here over the other two ranges in the area because overall it's just a better experience. read more

My wife and I got a family membership about 4 months ago, worth every penny, hardly ever a wait for the members range, staff is very helpful and friendly. Convenient so we can swing by and shoot for bit, and do other stuff later. shop is great , too, traded in one of my pistols for an upgrade, and was given a great deal. My husband and I have spent quite a bit of money at this range/store. A lot of the employees have been very nice and courteous. I appreciate when I go in there that I'm not treated like a dumb girl - especially since I've been shooting longer than most of them. However, the underhanded tactics of management are ridiculous. I had some firearms sent to me from a family member. When I emailed the firing line to get their FFL information and pricing - I was told 30 dollars for the transfers. I wasn't really upset that their price went up to 50 for the transfers - they're getting inundated with them and this takes their employees away from sales. I get that. BUT when they charged me 50 BUCKS PER FIREARM, that's when I was NOT happy. That's not what I was quoted. That's also not how ANY FFL I've ever worked with has conducted business. When I questioned management, having it both in writing and having gotten it verbally, I was told "that's just tough" So I told them that this would be the last business that I conduct with them. They didn't even care that they were losing a customer that had already spent a few thousand dollars with them in the last 6 months, and planned to spend several more. Their loss. I'm sure there are plenty of other ranges that will enjoy my business. read more
