A great spot in the mountains for Denver and Colorado Metro Area residents for active adults in the heart of Breckenridge. You can't beat it for the cost! There is a state of the art kitchen, dorm style bunk bed rooms (but they are comfy), a bar and social area stocked with beer and a wine club (for a nominal fee), ski/board tuning bench, heated patio complete with fire pit and torch lamps for socializing outside when there is a chill. Great group of people in a very social/active club. There is a process to becoming a member and membership is extremely limited at this time, however I feel very lucky to be a member of this fabulous club.

So in 1961 Breckenridge Ski Resort opened and shortly after construction on the beloved Chalet completed. It sleeps nearly 80 people comfortably plus sleep out sofas. The ski club is a great way to meet new people who become friends and you have someone to ski/board with. The age of members runs from mid 20s to 80s. The set up is like a private frat house. You pay a yearly fee that covers your stay there as much as you want (no more then 4 nights in a row). You arrive and sign in to a bed. There's a men & women's floor with 9 rooms each that sleep 4 and private hall bathrooms. The house does not have a cleaning service so every member has to pitch in while there and in the summer we do renovations such as painting, cutting wood, etc. The large kitchen is great. Many members eat breakfast in and either go out or make dinner and stay in by a warm fire. The club members plan many fun themed dinner events such as last night's Valentines Massacre Italian Dinner. There have been many wine & cheese events, 70s & 80s parties, holiday gatherings, etc. We have a few ski tuning benches and a tool cabinet stocked with tools, wax, P-Tex, etc. for those members who like to maintain their own equipment. So, now that you're checked in with a bed, well fed and waxed skis you simply walk out the door to catch a local bus to either the 8 or 9 bases and when you're ready to call it a day you can ski back to the parking lot. There's usually someone already there with a fire going too. Our guide was Katie, a 17 year old young lady who was incredibly engaged with us, pleasant and shared historical information on the mining days in Central City and pointed out interesting things along our ride. The entire ride was beautiful, often through trees and remnants of the mining days. Definitely historical! At the top of the trail ( we went on the 1.5 hour ride) there was a majestic view of Mount Evans and the Colorado landscape in all its beauty. We don't horseback ride a lot but we will come here again and recommend A&a Stables to everyone!

It was still covered in snow. The lake was iced over. The glacier looked beautiful. We talked to a family whose young son hiked up the top and then snowboarded down by himself! We parked in the small lot just across the trailhead. It was $20 and you pay by scanning the QR code. There was one porta potty there. There were other lots that were charging $10 but farther from the trailhead.

Long on views and uniqueness short in hike!…read more This is a local favorite. A place that is easily accessed, has a year round snow field and is just plain fun. Lake front. Fishing. Glisading. Skiing. Boarding. Hiking. Views and blue sky are all in abundance at St Mary's Glacier. It's great fun to tromp through the snow in summer time. Watch crazy boarders sail down the small ice field living their best lives in shorts and tank tops. Adventure above the snow field and find above treeline terrain and majestic views and a hike to the top of James Peak. Parking is a bitch. Weekends are crowded and it's always busy but worth the time. Definitely a fun place to bring folks from out of town!

Came to North Fork for a winter fly trip the day after Christmas. Jeff was awesome with…read morecommunication ahead of the trip and what to expect (he undersold the trip to be honest). There were four of us fishing and they provided two guides which was perfect as we had someone in our group who had never fly fished before and he was able to get more 1:1 instruction from guide Ryan. The more experienced anglers went with Joe, both guides were incredible and worked their butts off to get us on fish. We booked four hours and it was nonstop action from start to finish. I personally landed somewhere around 30 fish with some of them being serious toads, I broke my personal best several times during the day. The guides were willing to be as hands on or hands off as we wanted and provided tons of great insight and knowledge to use on future DIY trips. Having fished all over the country this was honestly the best four hours I've ever spent on the water and can't wait to make an annual trip out of it. I'm sure these guys would take care of you on a summer trip but if you get a chance to do a winter trip don't sleep on it!!

The Silverthorne recreation center was a complete hit for our family…read more After a long day of skiing, the kids still wanted to have fun and wanted to go swimming. They have a water slide that they allow younger children to go with adults on and it's quite fast. There's a hot tub area, a lab pool area, as well as a climbing wall in the swimming area for older children. They also have a steam room and a sauna. Changing area looks like it was done relatively recently. It's quite nice. They have men's room, a women's locker room and a communal room which is perfect for families with small children. If Keystone or Breckenridge area I would definitely be checking that out again.
