Lots of great guns at competitive prices for a smaller store. They had some really cool guns. I had not seen anywhere else and was not expecting that. Both New and discontinued. Unfortunately they did not have the particular fire arm I was looking for my first time there but gave them some business anyways and ordered through them some grips I also needed. They called me as soon as they arrived and put them on my firearm for free. I have been to their store about 7 times over past year and would highly recommend them. I have done business with about two dozen shops in two states over the past 20 years and for about 8 years worked in the firearm industry so I don't have a ton of experience like some but I will share my experience from my perspective. 1) Ryan the owner is a class act. Knows his stuff. Builds relationships with his clients and staff. I've never felt like an inconvenience when I've asked questions, Sent emails, Transferred guns I didn't purchase from his business, ordered firearms, or asked for recommendations. Everything starts at the top and his leadership shows in how he sets the right example and how his team does the same. 2) consistency when working with his team. Each and every person I've worked with outside of Ryan has been respectful, personable, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with 3) selection is good for the footprint of the shops which is not large but has a good mix of pistols, tactical rifles/PCC/shotguns, used firearms especially older revolvers and rifles. Even if what you want isn't in the shop some items can be ordered or not displayed so checking regularly you can find items that can sell as quick as they come in. Ammo is decent selection with a good mix of calibers and stock. Accessories are the basics one would need so don't get too excited on being able to completely accessorize all your rigs. 3) pricing is not the least expensive around vs online or some large shops BUT competitive based on the item. Becoming a regular client who signs up for their emails and does business often has its perks from a relationship perspective including all of the above making it a well worth trip 4) location is not near me I have multiple shops closer to me but the shop size is on the smaller size with not a ton of open space. All space is well used and filled to the max of what's relevant. 5) in house gunsmith through partnership with sovereign armory which I have used a few times for multiple reasons. Not a real friendly group. Went in looking for a particular rifle, told me they didn't carry, no effort to help me find it or suggest something else. I poked around a little because I liked the layout of the shop and was hoping someone would be interested in helping out. I was looking for a handgun as well. I was literally the only one in the shop and the 3 guys behind the counter seemed more interested in chatting with themselves. Found the rifle I was looking for, figured I'd give them one more shot. Asked if they could help me track down some ammo, told me we don't carry it. Most gun shops would at least offer to help source something, not these guys. I reached out to the store recently coz I am moving out the country and cant take my guns with me. I sent a few pics along with a description of what I had for sale and was contacted by a Ryan Resch who I think is the owner, sorry for not asking. Anyways, we set up a time for me to stop by, the store was easy to find right off Evans, there was plenty of parking out front and of course they have a security door at the entrance. Inside, the store was very clean and well laid out, the staff were friendly and engaging while I waited for Ryan to come out to meet me. I had stated in an email how much as I was wanting and he had a price in mind tho after seeing how nice both guns were, Ryan without trying to lowball me, stepped up his offer wanting to be fair with me but still be able to make some money for himself coz that is his business after all. While filling out paperwork, I noticed Ryan had a skateboard tattoo, a Rat Bones, so we got chatting about old school decks and stuff, he's a genuine down to earth guy, no big egos here like at some gun shops! I went in for some work to be done on my HK P30. Already having received amazing customer service from the staff.....seriously, I want you to go to other places in Denver, then come here and compare. You may find a place comparable, you won't find better. Seriously. Anyhow, back to my HK.....I asked Sean Milmore, their gunsmith, to do some work for me. I wanted LEM trigger as well as some painting on my baby....not gaudy or anything, just something to know that this is my baby! Sean talked with me and offered his suggestions ( he's pretty much done this on all of my weapons with great satisfaction from me) then went to work. Kept me updated with the work through email. I finally was able to go shoot it............Look here....SO SMOOTH and FLAWLESS! I love his attention to detail and his high accountability to please the customer. Would give 6 stars if I could. I grew up around guns but pretty much never fired one. My wife and I contacted Ryan to go through basic pistol safety course. I was pretty intimidated. He made it easy as pie-- No attitude-- Very patient, encouraging, fun for both of us. No pressure to buy, he just gave us tons of good advice and made us feel very comfortable. As for his knowledge, I would rate him a 10 out of 10-- Extremely knowledgeable but also very pragmatic. I especially appreciated him stripping through some of the hype and popular "opinions" on what is good or bad and offering a very candid opinion, often that just because you spend more doesn't mean you're really getting more. This place was as awesome as a reviews! I didn't have the opportunity to purchase a firearm at the star but I did purchase one through them. The owners were super friendly on the phone and the store is an awesome little spot on the second floor of an office building. The place is super welcoming and the owner is a friendly guy with a lot of knowledge and respect for the customer! He even gave me a business card to follow up on a question I asked him. The store is small with a great display with great tunes in the background. I am a new gun owner and without asking he took a few minutes to show me the important stuff so I was comfortable leaving. Customer service could not be better, and in no way I could feel more comfortable with my firearms purchasing decisions. That extra $20 bought me a reliable resource and a business relationship that will last. My second transaction was a request for a specific type of item. Sean the Smith at Bighorn saved me a lot of hassle and it only took him about 5 minutes . He was ready to go without any question whatsoever . Whi8 field stripping my 44 Mag my buddie decided. that would be a good idea to push out the bolt assembly pin because there's only three parts in there. Desert Eagles or some of the most complicated and precise weapons available as far as how tight they're tolerances are. I feel very lucky that I chose to call these guys and actually get somebody who knew what they were talking about. Thank you Sean! After having somebody tell me yesterday that, and I quote Desert Eagles don't have bolts. I think he was so embarrassed when I flat out told them yes, yes they do. He then told me there was no way they could help me. Well it took Sean, who appears to be their Smith, said come right on over fixed it in 5 minutes. While I waited another Clerk showed me around some AR platforms I've been thinking about. So although I have not bought a gun from them. I have seen how they interact with their customers on purchasing a firearm as well as the kindness and speed with which Sean took care of what should be second nature to any Smith. I read the yelp reviews on Bighorn Firearms. So, with a score of 4.5, I chose Bighorn Firearms to purchase the 2 pistols I needed. So when I got to the store, Ryan asked if he could help me. What a guy! This was kind of my first rodeo in a gun shop. I told him what I wanted for my wife. The gun was rated as the most desirable gun for women in a trial of five weapons I saw in the NRA Rifleman. I explained why I wanted the Sig Sauer P238 which won first place in the trial. He had one in the showcase, took it out, handed it to me and patiently explained how it worked and even showed me how to dissemble it for cleaning. So, that gun was a slam dunk. My gun was a different matter. I wanted a .45 Cal. double stack (instead of the clip holding only a single stack of 8 rounds, a double stack holds 14 rounds with the rounds being loaded next to each other.) Of course I wanted a Sig Sauer P320 .45 acp double stack (too much for my budget). This was when Ryan patiently informed me of the alternatives. He really went through each gun with the goods and bads and helped me decide on the gun which fit my needs. With his help I decided on a Glock 21 gen4 .45 acp. Despite the fact he didn't have the precise gun in stock, he used a Glock in the show case as a substitute to teach me about my new gun. Ryan also showed me some holster choices. He picked the one which fit my budget. I bought some ammunition of course. And my wife and I are going to take private concealed carry class. Which includes one day of school and one day of shooting. I'm also eyeing another gun and an AK-47. Both Ryan and Gordon are off the charts as far as HELPING anyone get personal protection. I recently had the need for a FFL dealer to complete the purchase of a new rifle. The sale was between myself and a private seller. The owner at Bighorn conducted the required paperwork for completing the transaction here in Colorado. The service was $40. I was informed that the $40 fee is good for all the firearms you are transferring during a single transaction. This is a good deal since some places in the area charge you $40 per firearm. Recently tired purchasing a gun and had a declined background check which I will be appealing. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable during the purchase process. My only issue came after finding out my background check was denied. I did not fully understand the return process if my background check was denied. I was charged a 10% restocking fee and was unable to return the ammo magazines and other things I bought assuming I would get to purchase the gun. So now I am out over 100 dollars in restocking fees and I'm forced to keep hundreds of dollars in ammo, magazines, and other add ons for which I have no gun to use them on because of the no return policy. I was forced to pay in full before the background check was completed and was refunded for the purchase of the guns minus the 10% restocking fee after finding out my background check was denied. Just a warning to potential buyers understand the return policy if your background check gets denied. I was in the lobby for 15 mins and heard 5 denied background check calls so it seems like denied background checks are happening a lot and the gun store is profiting from this with a 10% restocking fee and sales for items the potential buyer may never get to use because of a failed background check. Seems like a good group of guys but they are definitely profiting from denied background checks and a no return policy!!!!! I will likely go back and buy a gun from there if I get my background denial appealed. Just feels like they got one over on me because of my background check denial. read more
