Last May, I decided to sell a firearm, I saw online that Green Mountain Guns had a 15% fee for consigning firearms online through Gunbroker. When I went there, after filling out all the paperwork, the fee changed to 25%. I decided to go ahead and list the item with them, which was a mistake. They said they would mail me a check when my gun sold. I was told the firearm would sell in about 2 weeks. After a month of no communication, I called them. I was told there was no record of my firearm, despite me having a carbon copy of the consignment form. I called back a few days later, and I was told they did have my firearm, but they did not know if it sold or not. Every week or two, I called, and I was eventually told my gun was sold, but the person on the phone apparently wasn't authorized to tell me what it sold for. Finally, after a few months, I was told my gun sold and for how much, but they had no record of them agreeing to send me a check. I live over an hour away, so I again requested them to send a check, which they then agreed to do. After two weeks, no check had arrived. I called and got a helpful person named Makenzie who assured me the owner would call me back and set things right after I told her my story. After two weeks of not getting a call back, I'm on the phone with them again. So I have consigned a gun, and they refuse to send me the money per our agreement, and whenever I call the owner is "not here at the moment." Apparently I've been ripped off. I went to Green Mountain to sell a collection of guns for an older lady who's husband had passed away. He had been the collector. She was wanting to sell the guns for a fair price without the hassle of having to do it herself. I was JUST helping her out. I brought in 37 guns for them to look at, many of which had NEVER BEEN USED and were still in their original boxes dating back from the 1950's-1990's. I had a clear list and had gone as far as getting some estimated ranges from places like Gun Broker and I was conservative. Well.... NEVER COME HERE TO TRY AND SELL A GUN. YOU WILL NOT GET A FAIR PRICE OR EVEN CLOSE TO A FAIR PRICE. They SAID they would do it on consignment, which would get the lady the most money AND they would "only make" 15% as a charge. They OFFERED to LIST the 37 guns at a grand total of $14,250. I had estimated a MINIMUM value of $25,500. I talked directly to the owner "Jake" and he mainly just said that "That is what they are really worth". SO, I said "no" of course, and when I wanted to collect back the guns, he first told me I would have to get a background check for EACH gun. I looked up the law and it said I ONLY needed 1 background check to which he reluctantly agreed. WHAT A JERK. I have to say it took a lot of work, but I listed and SOLD EVERY gun on Gun Broker. AFTER all the fees, I was able to get the lady OVER $39,500 in her pocket!!! I "charged" her $2,000 for my time and so she got $37,500. This is no exaggeration, no lie, but just the truth. Jake acted very confident in his estimate but I KNOW he was just trying to take advantage of the lady. I am glad I helped her out as she needed the money and wanted to sell the guns. They are misrepresenting a very high dollar Knights Armament SR-15 as original on their online Gunbroker sales. The rifle is not an SR15 and has many incorrect parts. Very little is actaully KAC (older Non-Ambi lower, handguard, and muzzle device). The receiver is Colt and not correctly marked, the rifle is missing factory KAC irons, the rifle has an incorrect trigger and gas block as well Make up your own mind read more

This is what Green Mountain Guns gave me for my $700 purchase. Nothing is in there to stop the gun and ammo clips from sliding around. They didn't acknowledge it either -- Im in sales for a profession and when I have to give a customer bad news, I at least tell them what happened. "Hey sorry about this, we ran out of boxes" would have really been nice to hear. The whole experience didn't sit well with me, from most of the employees not wearing a mask/wearing it improperly to the impersonal hand off. I wish I could write a better review. read more

In my opinion, probably one of the worst gun shops in the Denver area. Customer service skills are very lacking and selection of guns is very poor. Last two times we were in the store the workers didn't bother to even see if we needed any help or wanted to see anything. There are several really good gun shops close by to Green Mountain Guns that will offer better customer service, selection with basically the same price point. Not even green matters here... I stopped in to buy a handgun. I was of course, the only black person in the store. No big deal... Surprisingly, I was greeted and helped promptly (hence the one star). Despite that, I felt that no one "genuinely" wanted to sell me a gun, so I quickly found myself battling EVERY excuse. "You need a car registration and DL (ID) that has your current address on it." I am no gun purchasing expert, but I do know there are several ways to prove your address, BESIDES a car registration and DL. Furthermore, people move... Case and point with us... We moved recently, and as I was trying to explain my unique situation to the salesmen, he cut me off, and proceeded to "mansplain" every thing like I don't know MY life... What he failed to hear was that my wife and I didn't want to permanently change our personal secure documents (ID cards, etc..) addresses until we purchase our home, which we are in the process of doing. Our current lease is so short, that all we did was update the USPS of a temporary address change for a set duration of time. All my mail, my car, EVERYTHING is TEMPORARILY registered to my current address. However, that will not reflect on any documentation as it is not a permanent address change. According to the salesman, I just needed to "print of my proof of address change from USPS." How do you print a document that was never filled out? I completed my address change at the postoffice in person... After having to explain that, I found myself still struggling with this matter. In an effort to resolve it, I asked "what documentation would be suffice to prove I live at my house?" I was told any VA/GOV. issued documents would be efficient. That said, I immediately run home to gather the requested documentation, and seeing that I was in a race against the clock, and CO traffic from AURORA to LAKEWOOD, I realized I wouldn't make it back by closing. I called to let the staff know I could either email the documents over, or swing back by first thing in the morning to complete the process. During that phone call, I found out my completed CBI application was ALREADY shredded, instead of stored in a PPI / HIPPA approved document locker to be completed (I'm pretty sure as soon as I walked out of the door it was tossed). Whomever answered the phone acted like "he had no clue what I was talking about in regards to the CBI document, what it is called, or who I was." How sway, when I called literally 30 minutes after I had just left? How don't you know the name of the document you MUST have all customers fill out before a purchase? If y'all don't like Black people... just say that... IDK why this is such a headache.. I should've read the reviews before going in and wasting my time. Seems like I am not the first/only one they gave the 'run-around' to. read more

Took my Glock G19 in to have some night sights installed.. After getting gun back it shoots about 5 inches left @ 20 ft. .. Looking at the install job the rear sight is installed offset to the left a bit.. for some reason.. It's not hard to see, fairly obvious. Wow, just wow. I went in with a couple of coworkers to buy a pistol. I had been in a couple of times before with one of my coworkers. One of the salesmen there said he would not sell me a gun. I ask him why. He stated it was due to the fact that my coworker wrote a very bad review. I stated that I am not my coworker and had done nothing. He replied with ...the company you keep. I had not even read my coworkers review. I have never been treated so poorly and disrespectfully by a business. Again, I had done absolutely nothing wrong. I thought he was joking, but he was serious.He said they reserved the right not to sell to anyone. I was flabbergasted. I had been nothing but kind and courteous to this person. He then started arguing with my coworker. It was all very uncomfortable. He told us to leave the store. On the bright side, another salesmen inquired about the situation. I explained the individual said that they would not sell me a gun. He said they would. I said the other salesmen said they wouldn't. He said that he overrides him. At that point, I just wanted out of the uncomfortable situation and left. I have never been treated so poorly at a business. Wow, just wow. So far, my only customer experience has been as a student of their NRA Basic Pistol class with Ray Nash. I was highly impressed with the preparation, depth of knowledge, and interaction on part of the instructor. The cost of this course was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the same course anywhere else. The only extra I had to pay for was $18 to The Shootist (a local firing range) for the live fire exercise. I will be writing a review for that location separately. It doesn't hurt that the instructor likes the same gun I do (a Walther PPQ), and I secretly hope that helps get more Walther accessories in the store as time goes on. That they don't is the only reason I deducted one star for the store's overall rating. Ray has been talking the PPQ up with other staff, and (from his telling) they are impressed. If this helps with getting more Walther items into the store, I will probably raise this review to a 5-star. read more

Having recently visited nearly every firearms dealer in denver, I can say with confidence that the guys at Green mountain guns are easily the friendliest of the lot. Like any gun store staff, they obviously know more about the topic than most of their clientele; unlike some of the other places, they use that knowledge to actually assist customers. If you ask a question you are likely to to receive a helpful explanation, instead of a dismissive one or pressure to make an uninformed purchase. Updated store and all new staff. I bought numerous times over the years and now will no longer do so. Went in and asked to look at a Garand that was on consignment. Asked if I could pull it out of its stock to see if it was parts correct which would determines its value. This is done by simply pulling down on the trigger guard which takes 10 seconds to pull it or put it back in its stock. I was told no and he assured me it was parts correct for the year. Noticed that the bolt was of different manufacture than the receiver which means it was re-arsenal and worth half the asking price. Went in 2 months later and similar experience. Too bad, we lost a great store. read more

Do not go here!!! They will scam you out of money! My fiancé came in a YEAR ago to purchase a gun... he was charged for a gun but had to be approved before he could leave with it... (which seems like a weird way to go about a purchase, wouldn't they approve him first THEN charge him for a gun) anyhow, he was denied for some reason. He has zero criminal record! We even contacted an attorney! I know that CBI is responsible for this and not the gun store. So my fiancé went back to the gun store to bring his attorneys letter stating he had no criminal record. The store then said they sold his gun to someone else and showed him another gun that was 150 dollars more. They then charged him 150 dollars for this new gun and told him to appeal CBI's decision... We've waited MONTHS to hear about his appeal and at this point a year later we just want our money back! They then stated there would be a 100 dollar restocking fee?!?!? I don't know how they are going to restock his first gun that they sold to someone else! And they shouldn't have sold him his second gun if CBI denied him... this place is full a liars and scam artists and I definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere! read more

I purchased two handguns from them about a week ago. One was a 1911 9mm. I took the guns to the range a few days later and on the first fire the gun jammed, after looking at the gun it was clear the extraction arm had either been broken or sheared during the first fire. I took the gun back to the store and they informed me that I needed to contact the dealer directly and that they could not help me. So I have a brand new firearm, it's has never worked properly and Green Mountain sent me on my way. This would seem to me to be something they should remedy and handle with the dealer and find a way to fix this for me. Between that and the gun safe I purchased with had corroded batteries and did not work and required a return to them, I will not return. read more

I don't often write reviews, especially not for gun stores. However, I was shopping for my first rifle and handgun lately, and from all the stores I went (there were probably 9) I noticed that most of the gun sellers are either rude, arrogant, or total dbags. Green Mountain Guns was the most pleasant experience. I recently bought a Ruger American Rifle from these guys. They were the only ones in Denver area that carry this rifle in multiple caliber options, and the only place I could find the rifle in 30-06 caliber. Their price was $349 + taxes, which was lower then Bass Pro's $399 + taxes, Gander Mt.'s $429 + taxes, and even the Buckley AFB PX's $352 (Of course that at the PX there are no taxes). Called them first and they were very nice over the phone, as they turned to be in person. Filled up the paper work for backround check ( Notice: I didn't have to pay in advanced) and after 7 days (the time it takes these days for a check) I got a call back that I can come an pick up the rifle. Went to Green Mt. Guns, got my rifle, brand new in the box, paid $372 (taxes included), and after 10 min I was out of there. It was a very easy shopping experience. They also have a nice inventory in their store including a decent number of used guns. Some of the prices are negotiable. read more
