Stopped in yesterday to see what this gun store had on hand. The sign on the front door about guard…read moredogs on duty was mildly disconcerting and gave the entire visit an odd feel. When I entered, I was greeted very warmly and asked if I needed any help. No complaints there. The prices seemed reasonable with a rather limited selection of firearms and/or ammunition. It's a small store, so that's not really an issue. What did bother me is the way the pistols were just thrown into the display cabinets, lying on and against one another. It just feels off to me to see such high dollar weapons just randomly thrown into a case. I've never seen new guns bare metal stacked on one another like this. It gave me the feeling these people didn't care about firearms in the same way I do. I'd be slow to buy from anyone that shows such little regard for their own stock. I've been buying guns for twenty years and I've never seen this, even in low end pawn shops. Your mileage may vary but guns are a lifestyle to me and I deeply care about how they are taken care and how safely they are handled.

Bought a lower receiver and was told to come back after the waiting period. Went in to pick it up to only be told they had lost it. Waited 45 mins for them to go through the mess in the back room and still never found it. Ended up getting a refund. Wonder if they ever reported it as "lost or stolen" to correct authorities.

I recently took the Intro to Pistol class at Bristlecone Shooting, Training & Retail Center, and I…read morehad a really great experience. Luis was the instructor for the class, and he was excellent. He's extremely knowledgeable and clearly has a lot of real-world experience beyond just working at a range. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, answered questions thoroughly, and made sure everyone felt supported throughout the class. I was initially a little hesitant about taking a co-ed class since I had no prior firearms experience, but Luis immediately set a very welcoming, relaxed tone. He was calm, approachable, and easygoing, which made a big difference. I never felt intimidated or out of place, and he was very patient working with me as a complete beginner. By the end of the class, I felt comfortable, confident, and genuinely excited to keep practicing and come back to the range. Beyond the instructor, the facility itself is great. The staff was friendly and helpful, the environment felt respectful, and even the other patrons were welcoming. I also really appreciate that Bristlecone offers a wide variety of courses for different skill levels, along with discounts when you take classes, and special offerings like free Tuesdays for women. Overall, this was a really positive introduction to shooting, and I'd absolutely take another class here especially with Luis. Highly recommend for anyone new and looking for a supportive, professional place to learn.

I entered the store with my 12 yr old son, whom I am educating about the safety and functionality of firearms, and was looking to purchase a deer hunting rifle for his use for completing hunter safety. Upon entering the store, owned by a husband and wife team, I was given very odd stares. I asked if everything was alright as the sign on the door indicated the store was open. The owner stated I was not allowed to bring my son in the store. I Indicated he had been in there before, and was going to be next to me. He's been around firearms his whole life. The owner stated it is store police not to allow kids in the store. The owner stated sometimes people come in with loaded guns! So what?! Be responsible and unload them or sent the customers who brought them in to clear it before they return. I told the owner if my son was not allowed in I was leaving also, and would not return. The owner stated oh well. If his store is so unsafe kids are not allowed in it, then I recommend other sportsmen avoid this place also. Children are our future, and if we cannot educate them in firearms, and the proper use of them, we will loose yet another freedom and right our great country gives us. Ps if you are in the mood for a great little gun store with great education, and customer service, I recommend Troy, at Colorado Gun Writes in Lakewood! Troy has a popcorn machine he encourages kids to help themselves to, as he takes the time to educate them and encourage our future generation to be safe and knowledgeable. Mountain Guns however has lost a customer for life. I'm sure they will be fine without me, but I wanted to inform others that place their children first to avoid this place and their business practices.
