During our visit along the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour, we were greeted by an atmosphere that was simply extraordinary. As dusk settled outside, we stepped into a cozy space adorned with a small bar area. The menu, displayed both on a board and on paper, showcased their impressive selection of drafts. Opting for a flight, I found myself particularly drawn to their stout--an unexpected but delightful turn of events as I've recently developed a fondness for them. Adding to the ambiance, a small musical act entertained patrons in another area, while the presence of food trucks hinted at the culinary delights on offer. The beer itself was exceptional, complemented by impeccable service. Eager to take home a memento of our visit, I inquired about purchasing a t-shirt. The staff kindly provided access to the upstairs store room where I secured the last 3XL shirt available, along with some stickers for both the pour tour and my laptop. Overall, it was a fantastic stop characterized by friendly service, outstanding beer, and an atmosphere that left a lasting impression. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I'm not sure if the beer menu changes frequently however, the Lancaster DBL chocolate was very good if you are one that's likes dark stouts. Only one staff member was working at the time we were there. It was ok service...we waited for about 5 minutes to check out and I walked in to the bigger room and the only employee was talking with a man and woman...just seeing me alerted the employee that she had a bar open and wasn't able to be chit chatting. Then for the third time couldn't remember our names that she had already put in the register. I'm 100% not blaming this younger lady that was working. I blame the owner/management for not having another person working that day.

You order at the window or at the bar, but we've never had trouble ordering. The inside gives brewery warehouse vibes, but with a lil charm. We go with the garlic butter oven baked wings- honestly, a classic. Idk what voodoo they do to those wings but my gaaaaaad they are stunning. Buttery, garlicky, loaded with parm, tender juicy, big ole wings. There's a reason I can't get them off my mind. Then we go to the hot honey sausage flat bread. Another absolute masterpiece that I cannot get out of my head when we leave. It's not even super spicy- it's the perfect balance of sweet, savory, with a light touch of something deeper, hotter. We went rouge this visit and got a Hawaiian Hottie dog- which was good but I will say I wasn't as impressed as I am with the wings and flat breads. The hot dog felt plain, like it needed a little more oomph - and the pineapple being cold kinda throw us off. I do like that no matter what dog you choose, a single dog is a standard $6 across the board. We redeemed ourselves with the pizza rolls, a classic choice that didn't disappoint. If you're going to get anything though, I highly suggest the wings and flatbreads. You cannot go wrong. Oh and accidentally plan your visit on trivia night so you can win (3rd this time!) a gc to bring you right back. #GOUDapproved Hot Honey Sausage | $19.00 Fresh Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions, Sausage, Banana Peppers, Ricotta, Shaved Parmesan, Fresh Basil, Hot Honey Drizzle Garlic Butter Oven Baked Wings | $16.00 (8) per order. Had my first visit here on a Friday evening this past August. We met a few of our friends here to…read moreenjoy a night out with some beer, food, and live music. I have previously heard of Truss and seen them around the community at different events, but was excited to finally try them at their storefront. Truss Brewing Company is located in Pleasant Hills, just off of Route 51. This building has been other businesses throughout the years before Truss took over. It is clearly marked and easy to locate. There is a private parking lot in the rear, but they will have it closed off and filled with tables during the summer months. However, there are other lots and parking options surrounding the building along Old Clairton if this is the case when you visit. We arrived just after 7:00, and the place was packed! They had the back parking lot closed off for seating, but luckily we found a spot right in front. There is no indoor seating here, as they advertise the business to be take-out only. Therefore, you can order online or through some delivery services if you truly are taking the order to-go. However, if you are "dining in," you can order at the counter inside. They will give you an order number, and then call the order number outside for you to come retrieve. First, we made our way inside to place an order. There was a decent line that went out the door, but we made it through that in about 10 minutes. Ordering was straight-forward, as the menu is not terribly long. For the beers, there were some different size options. Also, they sold reusable cans, crowlers, growlers, and mini kegs that can be brought back and refilled. In addition to the made-to-order food and beer, there are some snacks, grocery items, non-alcoholic drinks, and merchandise all for sale. After placing our order, we made our way to the back parking lot to find some seating. As stated, there was a live band performing and the place was pretty full. However, we did manage to get a table. There were picnic-style tables, as well as some bar-height seating. I also saw some patrons bring their own lawn chairs, so that is an option as well! The atmosphere outside was very lively. The music was good, there were a lot of groups socializing and having a good time, and there were some yard games set up on the one side of the lot. Definitely a nice spot to bring the family or meet up with some friends if the weather is nice. The wait from ordering to when we got our food was about 30 minutes. I know the food is prepared in-house, and is not generic restaurant pre-made-type food, so this is reasonable considering that. My fiance and I split a few dishes between us. We ordered the Chilled Colossal Shrimp, the Big Fat "Wings," and the Wood Fries Parm Crusted. The Chilled Colossal Shrimp came with 5 and a nice dipping sauce. I love cold shrimp, so this was my favorite dish. The Big Fat "Wings" are chicken drumsticks prepared like wings. Since it is a different cut, you get a lot of meat for your money. We ordered them with the buffalo sauce on the side as well. They were tasty, and again, a great way to make your dollar stretch for a lot of meat! The Wood Fries Parm Crusted are unique, as they are very thick cut. It is probably over a whole potato's worth of fries, so plenty to share. My fiance loves thick-cut fries like this, so he thought these were great. We enjoyed the food overall! For my beer, I ordered the Mortar, which is an American Brown Ale. I usually prefer a brown/red/amber-type of pour, so this was right up my alley. It was a nice sipper to have throughout the night. In terms of value, I think some items have a much better value than others. Specifically, I thought the fries and the chicken were very much worth the money. I personally did not order a pizza this trip, but some of those seemed to be slightly expensive to me personally. Despite that, you can make it worth your dollar depending on what you order and what you are looking for most. Since this place is take-out only, I truly did not have a ton of interaction with the staff, except for when I put my order in. I had no issues regarding this, though I feel as though I did not have enough interaction to make a comment on this aspect of the trip either way. Likely due to all of the seating being outside, the business is dog-friendly! We brought our dog, and he enjoyed socializing with the patrons and many other dogs who were there as well. This was a great place to spend a sunny August evening! I enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere at Truss. We loved the live music, and learned on this trip that they regularly hold a trivia night and other events as well. The only downside is that this experience is seasonal, and weather-dependent. However, the food and beer are available year-round, so you can give that a try anytime. I would recommend checking this place out with the warmer months quickly approaching!

I learned that the best days to come are Monday through Wednesday because that is when they make the pizzas that they are known for. I love Detroit style pizza, so I might have to come back for that. On weekends, they typically have food trucks when they don't offer the pizza. The bartender was extremely friendly and gave me a lot of information about the brewery and their beers. They had their tap lists printed out an in acrylic holders, but the were smudged and hard to read what some of the options were. The bartender looked for one that was clearer, but they were all pretty bad. He filled me in on the information on any that weren't readable. I tried four different beers and wasn't really a fan of any of them. I was surprised, because one was an Oktoberfest and I typically really enjoy those. I tried one last one that is apparently "everyone's favorite" and still didn't enjoy it. I suppose every brewery has their style and I guess Bloom Brew's just isn't for me. Thankfully, they also have ciders and other drink options on their menu, so I ordered the Laurel Highlands Meadery Cranberry. It was perfection. Just the right amount of fruit and sweetness. One thing I like is that they have several size options. Basically, small medium and large size pours with varying ounces. If I hadn't ordered the cider, I probably would have ordered the smallest size of the sample that I liked the most.

You sort of have to drive by it and turn around down the street. Your first clue that you're on to something good here is that the parking lot is very full.. I went in on a Monday night and the place was packed. People at the bar, people at tables, and everyone is here to grab a beer and get some of those Detroit slices. You absolutely want yours loaded up with a dollop of whipped ricotta, fresh basil reduction which is like a pesto, and their housemade hot honey, which is not hot but is applied liberally. You can add those extras for no charge, and I'm not sure how they are affording that on a four dollar slice. Bonus points for them offering a couple of Athletic NA beers since I no longer drink alcohol. Always appreciate when places are thoughtful about this! Really friendly people and plenty of seating.

I never could understand why people eat outside in downtown places where cars drive by them 5 feet away. The beers were OK, nothing really special but OK. They have a little bar outside so getting a refill was quick and easy. The don't serve any kind of hard spirits. My wife isn't a beer drinker so one of the bartenders at the inside bar mixed her up a drink with seltzer and something else(tea) which she found to be quite tasty, so i tipped her generously for having the ambition to please a customer. Where they fell down IMO was their pizza. It just wasn't very good. We had several versions of their Sicilian to choose from. The cheese was generous, but the crust was doughy and heavy, the sauce was flavorless, and the toppings were very stingy. A big piece of Sicilian pizza with 3 slices of pepperoni is not good. I checked out their menu and was stunned at the prices they are getting for those pizzas. WAY overpriced. Of course i didn't have to pay for them since it was a party, but knowing what their pizza is like i would never go back there and pay those prices. The wings were just OK, pretty mediocre. Parking is a joke. No where near enough spots for the size of the place. Overall it was just OK, i would not return. There are better places for the same or less money.
