Nice spot with a variety of beers on tap. The pizza is amazing. We went on Sunday for the cousins food truck. So good.

Sausage pizza and ricotta cheese on top

The people were nice and the pizza was pretty good. The sauce on the pizza is very good.

Great beers, ciders, and even mead! We got the food truck and wandered in. The bartender Travis was very welcoming, he suggested things based on what I told him about my taste. It's very clean, professional establishment. We will definitely be back. They even have a nice mural of west Newton on the wall!

This was our first visit to the Draft Wagon. It was quite unique as it's across the river from the brewery and has limited hours and is only open during the warm months. It was cool because it has its own bar on the other side with stools attached. In addition to the beer it's limited on what is on draft compared to visiting directly with the brewery. Highly recommend checking it out. The beer is good and food was awesome.

Checked this place out a while ago with my boyfriend and a friend. It's a bit of a weird setup for a brewery. They have like 24 beers on tap and you can get samples of anything you want and then order pints. They also had wine and cider available (from other companies). There are a few stools inside or you can take your drinks out to picnic tables or down by the river. However if say you are drinking a cider you are not allowed to take it outside the building, which they explained was liquor laws. The staff didn't seem overly welcoming or friendly but then seemed to fall over when regulars came in. Maybe it was an off night, who knows. Also al the beer is served in plastic cups which I hate. I understand, especially with the outdoor space but there's something about drinking a good beer out of plastic. Now the beers. If you are a fan of sours you may love this place. I personally am a dark beer drinker and have only ever tried maybe two sours I kind of liked. When I was there they did have a few dark beers available. The problem is all of their beers actually taste sour. It's offputting to sip a stout expecting dark and roasty notes and getting sour. If I have a friend who is really into sours I may recommend they check it out. However I don't think I will be back because it just isn't my thing.

This place is behind the fire station and down around back. They have a decent amount of parking in the lot but not a ton. So cute outside with picnic tables and some umbrellas, a food truck, dog bowls and live music to make it even better! The staff was super nice and patient too plus the river makes it feel like you're kind of on vaca or something!

We took a little brewery tour this past Saturday of some breweries we have never been to. Thanks to these passports that has a lot of breweries in Westmoreland County we found this one. Not too hard to find but it is hidden behind a firehouse. The space outside is great. It's along the river and in the warmer months I bet the parties outside are great. There is a little sage for a band and a lot of space and benches to hang out in. For the cooler months it's still a good location to sit outside. Inside is small but it's really cool if you are into beer making and breweries. We got great service and really good beer. I wish we lived closer because this would be a good place to walk to and hang out. If you are not from this area but you want to try out a new brewery definitely make a trip to Bloom Brew and you will have a great experience. They usually have food trucks too!

They do an incredible hard cider now!!! Two varieties, sweet and dry. Locally sourced ingredients. Absolutely fantastic. They are open on Sunday's now. We had a wonderful time hanging out there this past weekend.

I have been dreaming of making a trip to Bloom Brew for quite some time, being an avid follower on Facebook and often tearing up when I see the list of available brews. Finally, after my drinking buddies took one too many day trips without me, we planned a Westmoreland brewery tour that started at Bloom. Once we entered West Newton, we followed signs leading us there. Their space is shared with the local volunteer fire department, so if your GPS leads you to the West Newton Volunteer Fire Department station, you're in the right place. Bloom is at the back of the building and there is a parking lot available. For anyone who doesn't know, Bloom Brew boasts an impressive list of over 20 beers available at all times. This is no small feat given the modest location. They only sell smaller (32 oz) growlers but they will let you sample up to 4 different beers. My friends and I tried to make the most of our 4 samples each, trying not to repeat so we could each get a taste of as many beers as we could. The breweries admit this is homebrewing turned into obsession. The 24 rotating beers on tap made with local ingredients make that a little obvious. I've personally been a fan of rye beers lately making Roggen Z Noggen my favorite by a long shot. I usually like a hefeweizen so I tried Jeffeweizen. It was a bit on the sour side for me however my friend who said she's not a hefeweizen fan but does like the sours ended up buying a growler of it. I liked the Peach Buzz but wanted it to be a bit sweeter. Down the Hatch was a good one, brewed with chili peppers. Speltacular Saison (with peppercorns) was an interesting surprise. Lil Brown Cacow (a chocolate milk stout) was very smooth and tasty. But in the end, I went back to my first choice, the Roggen Z Noggen to fill my growler. Hours are limited to Saturday 12-6pm for growler sales, which is the only real reason I've deducted a star. That and the fact that I have to drive about an hour to get there. (I have encountered Bloom Brew at a few bars around town and a couple brewfests, though.) The growler glass is $3 and depending on your beer selection, fills are $5-8 (most are in the $5-6 price range). Not a bad deal at all. Inside the door at Bloom Brew there is a chalkboard where it is written, "We love our craft, you'll love our beer." Truer words were never spoken.

Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more Yough River Brewing hits the three things I look for in a brewery - food availability, outdoor seating/dog friendly, and of course the beer. Went here after golfing with a buddy and had a solid IPA and a pretty good Oktoberfest. The variety available is good enough that most people should be able to find something they like. A really nice outdoor seating area with a couple of fire tables and Adirondack chairs makes it comfortable and inviting. I happened to be there on a Sunday afternoon and I think a football game was going on or just ended because there were a bunch of unsupervised kids running around the tables. Not that they were over the top obnoxious, but they were definitely distracting. Other than the timing, I enjoyed the ambiance of the place and the beers were good enough that I'd gladly make the 40 minute drive down again. 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

During our visit along the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour, we were greeted by an atmosphere that was simply extraordinary. As dusk settled outside, we stepped into a cozy space adorned with a small bar area. The menu, displayed both on a board and on paper, showcased their impressive selection of drafts. Opting for a flight, I found myself particularly drawn to their stout--an unexpected but delightful turn of events as I've recently developed a fondness for them. Adding to the ambiance, a small musical act entertained patrons in another area, while the presence of food trucks hinted at the culinary delights on offer. The beer itself was exceptional, complemented by impeccable service. Eager to take home a memento of our visit, I inquired about purchasing a t-shirt. The staff kindly provided access to the upstairs store room where I secured the last 3XL shirt available, along with some stickers for both the pour tour and my laptop. Then for the third time couldn't remember our names that she had already put in the register. I'm 100% not blaming this younger lady that was working. I blame the owner/management for not having another person working that day.

Have been here a couple times before, and visited the Pittsburgh location, so understood the quality of the beer - good selection and most beers are medium/high ranked. Price is pretty fair, given the location. My only concern about the visit was that there was a small outdoor tent/booth selling the same beer for an additional $4 per cup, which is extreme for the area and kind of confusing. You can walk to the interior behind the stage and get the same (as well as more variety) beer for $4-5 less? Unsure whether the lady charged me more than intended but it seemed like a gouge. Be aware of that....it was kind of a bummer.

They seem to try to keep their brews close to the original style. For example, their IPA is an excellent IPA in the traditional sense which I really appreciate. Nothing fruity or sweet, they hit what an IPA is supposed to be. So why not a higher rating? For me it's just because it's a pretty small place. It was busy the night we were there and they only had one bartender working so service was slow. She was really good, but there was only one of her. Keeping consistent with my eating scale, I'd be hesitant to drive half an hour to visit during the winter again. I heard that they have a really nice outdoor area that's right on the river, so maybe this summer we'll make the drive again to check that out.
