Each brew we tried was smooth, flavorful, and uniquely their own. We shared a few appetizers and every bite was fantastic, but the fried zucchini sticks were the standout--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely a must-try! Their happy hour is a great deal, and the atmosphere is just what you'd want in a local brewery: relaxed, welcoming, and fun. The location is spot-on--easy to get to, with plenty of space inside and out. It doesn't matter what I am doing or where I am heading, if there is a brewery on the way, I am stopping in for a flight and a bite to eat. I have been to Washington more times than I can county yet I hadn't been here yet for some odd reason but we decided to change that on the way to the airport. Before arriving me and my gf were rather hungry so we were looking on Yelp for a place to eat before deciding to stop in here for a quick bite and a cold beer on a smoking hot day. Upon arrival it seemed like a cool place and had plenty of parking behind the business. Although once we entered the business the atmosphere seemed kind of off and unappealing. Everyone looked pissed off or unfriendly. The servers weren't much better if I am being honest, which I always am when leaving reviews. We sat at the bar for a few minutes before I had to ask a girl who was too busy chatting away with another girl for a menu and water. We needed someone to cool us off immediately due to it being extremely hot outside. TBH: nothing is more of a put off than entering a business you are about to spend money in and seeing the wait staff on their phones ignoring the people who are there to help them make money cause God forbid you don't tip someone 20% who are on Instagram 85% of the time you are there and instead of asking if you need anything else while you are constantly saying, can I have another this or that. SMH! The wait staff here seemed all over the place and it wasn't even busy when we stopped in. I guarantee every single person who was working was behind the bar at some point and we either had to ask for more water, more sour cream, more whatever; that's annoying! We started off by ordering a flight of beer and that seemed like a whole job in itself to the waitress. Then we decided to go with the nachos. Which I must say took way too long to arrive considering there was only 8-10 people max while we were there and easily 5-6 waiters and 2-3 bartenders. The beer was good and the nachos were pretty decent as well. Neither was anything to write home about but they did their job. Another thing I did notice about this place is it seemed grimmy and more of a bar than an actual brewery. Most of the time when a brewery needs to serve liquor it just doesn't have great beer or great brewery vibes that us brewery lovers go for and we rarely return, sadly. There was nothing welcoming about this place and with the food being just decent and the wait staff not being of the greatest in the personality and service categories I'd say there is a 99% chance we won't return or recommend this place to any of our friends or colleagues. This is a great spot for low key, quick delicious sit down food and drinks. The sandwiches and fries are delicious, and everything was served quickly. The staff was very accommodating, kept drinks full and was very attentive to our needs. It's clean here and the bathrooms were well maintained. We also saw lots of take out orders being picked up. This was our first time eating here after finding ourselves in the area on a Saturday afternoon. Restaurant was not very crowded for an early dinner meal, and service was friendly and speedy. All of our food and drinks came out fast and accurately. The beers were all great and they had a variety of brews on the menu, including some seasonal pours that we tried in a flight. Food was good and the ranch dressing was spectacular, we had to ask for more. Buffalo chicken dip had a great flavor, but it was pretty spicy so just be aware if ordering for kids or the spice-intolerant. My family really enjoys visiting this spot in Washington, PA. We are often meeting up with half of us coming from Pittsburgh and the other half coming from Morgantown, WV, so it's a very convenient midway point. You can tell this is a popular neighborhood brewpub! On weekends it fills up. My go-tos are usually a wood fired pizza (their specialty) and a flight of beers, pictured from a previous visit. But on this particular visit, we were celebrating my brother's birthday and ordered a number of different items. We started with some beers, of course, which are always on point here and rotate seasonally. I've never had a disappointment. I am currently taking it easy on alcohol due to a medical condition and was thrilled that their sister B&B Distillery allows them to offer cocktails and mocktails. I had a blackberry lemon spritzer that was absolutely delicious! The giant pretzel was one of the best I've had, and I do tend to order this item at almost every brewpub as I think it's a real measure of a place. This one is soft and absolutely delicious, and the beer cheese and mustard are next level. We loved the beer cheese so much that we also ordered the nachos that included it, ordering shredded pork on the side for the rest of the family as I'm a vegetarian. For entrees, we tried lots of different things ranging from sandwiches, like a Shrimp Po Boy, to Shaved Ribeye Tacos, to burgers, to their menu headlining Mac and cheese which is interestingly made with long noodles and housemade cheese sauce. You can add on a number of different items to this such as roasted vegetables which is what I chose. Everything we had was really delicious. The only slight hiccup was that one person was served cold french fries; they weren't going to complain but someone else spoke up on their behalf and our server quickly offered that a brand new batch just came out and brought new ones. Service was attentive and very kind. I felt bad for the servers on this particular evening as it was pretty clear they were dealing with less staff than probably should have been on, I suspect one or two people called off. It was a busy weekend evening and only two or three servers were handling everyone, so sometimes we had to wait a little while for what we needed, but that was no fault of how hard our server was trying. We also had brought a small birthday cake of our own and our server was happy to bring extra plates and silverware and I didn't see any fee assessed for this, which many restaurants do. Great brewery! They have both inside and outside seating, we chose to sit at a picnic table on the covered porch since it was a beautiful day. I liked that the porch is covered, so you're not baking in the sun. Their beer menu has around 8 different beers, one of each main type. I ordered the blackberry pilsner and really enjoyed it! It was refreshing with a soft fruity flavor. Wasn't too tart or sour, very smooth and easy to drink. The staff was great and gave us the perfect amount of space to relax and enjoy our time, while also showing up at the time we wanted to order more. Their food menu looked pretty great too with pizza, sandwiches, and burgers. Hopefully I can come back for a meal next time. I really enjoyed my time here at The Washington Brewery. I came with some friends for a late lunch/ early dinner. We each ordered a beer flight ($9) and a couple appetizers. The beers were good. My favorite was the hazy, and unfortunately they did not have the stout I was hoping to try. We ordered the pulled pork nachos and pretzel pieces to snack on. The pulled pork on the nachos was sooo good and the pretzels were unlike any I've had before, but we loved them. They reminded us of french toast for some reason. We also ordered a spirit flight. We were not a huge fan of the spirits alone, but I bet they are amazing in a cocktail. Our waitress was extremely sweet and was sure to get us anything we needed. We got their lent special fried green beans and some fries. The green beans were coated and fried perfectly. We also got the Brewer's pizza to share! I've never had a creamier pizza than this. They must use fresh mozzarella cheese cuz the cheese was so delicious and there was a lot on the pizza! For me the pizza could have been a little bit crustier. However, we also stayed for another drink and dinner, and those did not impress. The pretzels appetizer is to die for! They also have a good variety of beer to choose from for the flights. Where it went downhill for me was the spicy margarita. It was very bland and didn't even taste like a regular margarita, yet alone a spicy one. For my meal, I got the shrimp po boy which was so bad. Don't go to Washington, PA too often, but saw a Groupon for this brewery (the Groupon is for 2 flights and an app for two people). The Washington Brewery is in the heart of the town and has a great location. They have a pretty decent-sized patio. It's already set up for cooler weather with plastic tarps to keep wind out so it's good to know that it'll be an option in the colder months. There are also heaters out there. Our server was very sweet and helpful since it was our first time. The apps were delicious. The pizza was okay, but had the soggy dough in the middle. They have a wide array of beer selections and the best way to go for the first time is a flight so you can figure out what you would like to try after. 2nd time I visited, first time was 4 years ago when we dropped our daughter off as she began college. Wait times were over an hour, food was cold, prepared wrong, horrible experience. We had family in from out of town. We had planned on spending time at Liberty Pole Spirits. We said that we would go to Washington Brewery following to have some beers and food. We arrived and the manager I assumed approached me and said how many in your party and I had said 6. He said he wanted to be honest and respectful that the wait would be an hour for food. I said what about drinks, he said well not an hour but look we have a single server, so maybe 20 mins. I said I appreciate the honesty and said it's fine and we will be outside. I came outside and told my family when they arrived. Few of us decided to go in and get drinks. We did that. Came out and a waiter already took an order from the table. When he came back, we added more food. My wife, daughter and sister in law noticed how the tables had stuff on them still. They new they were understaffed. The manager told me several people called off today. They bussed all of the tables outside to help them out. The waitresses said you don't have to do that, they insisted. They provided us a round of beers on them, which was nice. I will say our waiter was terrific. He forgot a couple things but he was stressed based on all he had to do. Overall service was great. None of the four I tried were great though. It's a pretty decent size although it seems a little run down. Not dirty, but not decorated trendy enough for four stars. I wasn't a fan of the winter dark but it was my sister's favorite. It had a coffee flavor to it and was too bitter for my taste. My brother-in-law had a burger with blue cheese. They have a nice wrap around porch that they added at the beginning of COVID, that is a lovely addition to the brewery! The back deck is more sunny while the side is nice and shaded with an awning over the entire deck! We were seated quick and had excellent service continually being checked on while sitting outside. Forgetaboutit We went out for a bachelorette party. They first forgot that we had a reservation but seated us quickly. Everyone I sat near was not impressed with their their drink very much. The drinks were the mule, the strawberry lemonade mule, the blackberry pilsner, and I got the winter larger which was quite bland. Apps were good tho! We got extra sauce for the fried cauliflower and the pretzel pieces were delicious. But then it went downhill again for the food. Friends got the pulled pork pizza but it seemed like a jalapeño pizza with a sprinkling of pork. I got the Forgetaboutit pizza with capicola. My nine year old daughter and I stopped here for lunch during a road-trip for lunch, around 12:30pm on a Saturday. I selected the place based on positive Yelp reviews, but was disappointed. We got off the highway, and The Washington Brewing Co wasn't too far off the freeway, located in downtown Washington, PA. We both had to pee, and were seated by the hostess immediately afterwards. It took a bit for our server to come over. We fired a broadside, but it wasn't a complicated one: 1 beer, 1 soda, 2 burgers, and 2 fries. Burgers and fries are their specialty. Here's my beef (Ha!): from the time we ordered to the time our food arrived, it was over 45 minutes. For a couple of burgers and fries. My daughter (she is 9) was dancing around her chair from hunger. Fifteen minutes after ordering, my daughter was ancy and prancing around. Our server, on a walk elsewhere, would comment that our food would be out "soon." Half an hour after ordering, my daughter was getting pissed. She is 9. So, she's asking me questions like, "Daddy, why did you choose this place? Didn't you know it would take this long?" I looked over at a boss-person at a table by the entrance. He was wearing the same shirt as the servers, but he was a boss-man...doing something on a laptop (paying bills, scheduling, etc?) but not so engrossed as to get up and address a bar problem with a couple a few feet for us. But our dilemma (no food...) remained unaddressed by this boss. 45 minutes after ordering, I'd assumed that Gordon Ramsey had the kitchen staff locked up in dry storage ("WTF does it take 45 minutes to make a hamburger?"), but no, our food appeared. Our cold food. My fries were cold and soggy. This place had plenty of time and I'd asked a few times where our food was; after 45 minutes to make everything perfect, how could my food be cold? The good news: I had one beer (a black IPA) and it was good. But why did cooking two burgers and fries take so long? As a home cook, I could've patted out two burgers, cut potatoes, heated a grill, heated oil, and grilled burgers and fried fries in 45 minutes, and yet I would assume a restaurant would be more set-up for success than my home kitchen. Beer was good. Location was cool. But the team of service + kitchen was garbage. I mean, you do you; if you want to drive 10 minutes off the highway for a local beer, cool. If you are a local, and you have an hour to kill waiting for a burger, cool, this might be the place for you. But if you want a burger within a reasonable time horizon, this may not be the place for you. As I was checking out the menu the "What the Duck" pizza popped out and I had to try it.
