We had just flown in and dropped our stuff at the VRBO, so food was on the forefront of our thoughts. Parking was a breeze right out front of the taproom, and we were sat immediately in a booth tucked in the back. The setup is an order-at-the-bar concept after you choose your meals from the menus at the booth. We walked up, ordered a few dishes to share and a couple of drinks and headed back to the booth with our brews. The servers brought over our collection of platters and dropped them at the tables, and that's the last we saw of them. We shared the ahi wonton tacos, mac and cheese with bacon and jalapeños, and taproom wings, the husband got the tri-tip sandwich and I got the herb crusted salmon over a Mediterranean potato hash. I paired the unfiltered DBA with my salmon - a subtle English pale that definitely didn't overwhelm the flavorful salmon. We all sampled from the mass of dishes on the tables and somehow managed to finish every single dish. We enjoyed the meal so much we planned on going back again, but their kitchen was shut down for a remodel after a fire that had happened a few days prior, so we returned anyway for a few beers at the bar and sampled from the food truck they had stationed outside. read more

We also got a sweet deal they had for $25 for pretzel which is HUGE and a beer stein along with a beer. The pretzel was perfect and came with beer cheese and a nice honey mustard. Came here on a Friday afternoon. Not too busy. There were 7 in our party and were seated right away. Good drinks, plenty of beer to choose from. A few of us had the fish tacos and they were very tasty with good flavor. The flour tortilla taco shells were fried and didn't break apart like a regular taco shell can. Word of advice: make sure you bring your own water. I don't mind drinking tap water, but the water here tasted awful and there was no bottled water available for purchase. Food quality is inconsistent. The popular dish to get is fish tacos or fish and chips, but will you get a nice crisp beer batched fish you can enjoy or sad mush? Unfortunately for my table and I we all got sad mush. Service is very minimal with ordering from a QR code and waiters only stopped by if you happen to flag them down. I ordered the portobello Burger, I don't usually enjoy portobello mushroom, but this one was cooked really nicely, impaired really well with the pesto and Rosemary aïoli sauces! The Oktoberfest beer was well balanced with the wheat flavored and the sweetness of a typical Marzen. The paraboloid barrel aged stout, offered nice barrel aged notes, along with chocolate notes, not as syrupy as other barrel aged beers. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come again! Second time here and will be the last. The first time, the service was slow. My food didn't come at the same time as the rest of my party. They were done eating by the time mine showed up. We decided to give it another try last night and we were very disappointed. Again slow service. The restaurant was not busy so no excuses for slow service. Food was edible. I had the tri tip sandwich. It was very messy and thrown together and was lacking flavor. The last bite was all gristle. I had to go to the restroom to spit it out because I had nothing to wash it down with. The waitress never came to refill our drinks and never came to check on us. We had two dogs with us so we sat on the patio. I had a southwest salad that was delicious and loaded with chicken, corn, black beans, cheese, grape tomatoes, lettuce and very thin chips on top. May have been better with less dressing but it was very good. My husband had the tri-tip sandwich with fries and beautifully caramelized onion. It was a very loaded sandwich and even had some arugula in it. I don't eat beef or pork but it looked great. We got a 10oz beer each and I could only drink half as I was full. I'll go back! Go for the beers- stay for the food. You would imagine it being the typical bar grub food from the menu- but honestly we were surprised it was more upscale than we thought- the tri-tip sandwich tasted very artisanal with the rosemary aioli sauce and the steak was cooked to perfection- along with the soft ciabatta roll it all paired very nicely. I liked the option of the steak cut fries also as a nice addition and change from the regular fries usually offered on menus. The mac and cheese, and wings are also done really well- nothing too greasy and great flavors. The beer list is pretty extensive but they have lots of options! Enjoyed a few different picks from the menu. Menu is scan and order at the table once you sit down- they don't have waiter servers to take orders- a nice streamline idea i think. Food was quick once ordered and no fuss from the waiters serving food- they all seemed pretty busy so it was nice we could just order from the QR code instead of having to wait on a server or track one down for something. Lots of seating inside and out- it was busy when we went at the weekend so had to wait 10 minutes or so to get seated- the bar area decor is funky with the bottles rotating with led lights above the bar. read more

As a non-beer drinker who goes to breweries for the vibes, I enjoyed this place! We visited Firestone Walker Brewing for lunch, and had to wait a little while to get seated as a party of 7. There was a large (dog friendly) patio, but we opted to sit indoors to avoid the wind and ended up at a large hightop table near the bar. Ordering was easy through the QR code on the tables - they use Toast so you just add to your own tab and the servers bring it to your table. I got an Arnold Palmer, the Taproom Buffalo Wings, and the Sweet Smoky Brussels Sprouts to share with a friend. Most of our group got the Classic Beer Flight (looked great) and Blood Orange Mimosas (these were excellent). Service was quick and my wings were very tasty (loved the chunky blue cheese). The rest of our food was solid as well, including the Taproom Nashville Dry Rub Wings, Comfort Mac-N-Cheese, Propagator Pretzel, and Bear Fries. The only disappointment was The Brewmaster Pizza, which was sadly mediocre. The brewery also had a ton of great merch so did some shopping on the way out. Worth a visit! read more

Visited Firestone for our first time on Monday. Came shortly after opening so it wasn't crowded, but eventually filled up with the lunch rush. The inside was huge and definitely perfect for groups passing through or locals wanting to grab some grub. I was disappointed that they were out of their Michelada mix so I couldn't enjoy a proper beer the way I like it. We ordered the smash burgers which were filling, but I thought lacked flavor. The patties needed some serious seasoning and/or mustard in my opinion having experience making homemade smash burgers. I also wished the fries were crispier in their cute little bag. I was headed up north and made this a pit stop being a fan of the brews. Parking for the taproom seems somewhat limited but other than that there is street parking available up and down the street. The taproom hours are usually from around 11am-8am (M-Th & Sun) and 11am-9am Fri-Sat. The taproom is a good size with a dedicated bar area, tables/booths and an outside patio. They also feature a little section to buy some various things (shirts, hats, etc). There's about 20+ various brews being served here from their classics to ones brewed at their other locations. I sat at the bar and had some good service. DBA (Double Barrel Ale) - British Pale Ale - 5% ABV - The DBA is one of the classics and has a good smooth taste with hints of caramel, toffee and oak. Pivo Pils - Pilsner - 5.3% - Floral aromatics, spicy herbal nuances and zesty notes Spicy Beer Cheese Croquettes - Red peppers, jalapeno, 805 cerveza, four-cheese sauce, bacon. Served with a choice of sauce. These were real good! A good bit of spice. Served piping hot with a good crisp. Brewhouse Burger - Steak-blend patty, gruyere, caramelized onion, horseradish aioli, arugula, potato bun. We had such an amazing four-hour visit to Firestone Walker. We were in Paso Robles for an anniversary weekend getaway. While my wife likes wine tasting, I'm not as enthused. Beer, on the other hand, is another story. I reserved the Barrel Room Tour which is more expensive than their regular tour and only once on Saturday and Sunday. But before our 2pm tour, we needed lunch so we figured it was a good idea to use the Taproom restaurant. Went there and ordered via QR code which is how they're doing it. We are a large warm pretzel and salads. I couldn't decide on beverages so for a tasting flight which was delicious and enjoyable. The tour was amazing. Our tour guide Chris was knowledgeable and funny. He was super encouraging to ask questions and easy about time. We had 3 oz. samples during the tour and then more after the tour. You also get FW swag. As much as I love 805, I only tried other beers while on site. My biggest regret was not buying beer to go! I had tasted beers all day (via 3 oz. glasses and I didn't finish all) so I was burnt out on beer at the end. This is the Willy Wonka Factory for beer. So fun. read more

Smash burgers are always great swap the bbq sauce for the rosemary aioli not saying the bbq sauce isn't good had it before it's ok not a big complaint but the rosemary aioli is really great and also is a perfect dip for the fries in my opinion they should serve that instead of the cup of ketchup I'm partial to "skinny fries" and they are good, the upgrade to garlic Parmesan is also good lots of flavor love the Brussels sprout appetizer but $4 for bacon is way excessive it's a little sprinkle.... I was driving up from LA and decided on a pit stop for a burger and beer. My usual spot , Paso Robles Brewing Company, where the service and food both were outstanding, was unfortunately closed. I try to stick to local and independent breweries and Central Coast Brewery was next on the list but their Tri-Tip sandwich was disappointing the last time. The Backyard always has good beer options but not the food I was looking for. I said F it and decided to try Firestone Walker. I was never a fan of their beer but saw they had a good looking smash burger on the menu so decided to drive 2 miles in the opposite direction to try it out. I already knew what I was getting into with it being the tail-end Sunday of a long holiday weekend so I knew they would probably be busy, but I was going stag so didn't think it would be a problem. I parked, walked in and headed straight for bar seating. Found a nice spot and parked my buns, calmly reviewing the menu that was left there from a previous patron. The bartenders and barbacks looked really stressed and constantly moving. I had a feeling it would be a while, if at all, that any of them would greet me. They never did. I sat there for 10 whole minutes without any of them even acknowledging me. I walked right back out. Not gonna give them my money if they can't even muster a simple "Hey." Screw this place.
