Enter Lafayette Dental Excellence. Dr. Leo, Jane, Mary, and Barb are everything I'd hoped to find, but never thought I would. Dr. Leo excels in the traits I value most in a dentist: patience, attention to detail, and outstanding knowledge of the most up-to-date advances in dentistry - in addition to foundational knowledge from experience, of course. Oh and, of equal import, compassion for my terror of anything remotely related to dental issues. Dr. Leo's assistant, Jane, could not be more kind and efficient. Mary, the office manager, is incredibly knowledgeable as well, so kind (must be a prerequisite for the office), and just fun to talk to - even in the midst of a painful dental emergency. They tried to upsell me…read more I only wanted a cleaning. I have always gotten dental cleanings every six months. They insisted on x-rays many health issues happened in the past four years to me (including MRIs and other types of x-rays) the surgeon and MD who did surgery on me in Sept 2024 said avoid x-rays until October 2025. I am over 70 and not in great health. However, I have never had a cavity in my Life. My previous doctor, Jack DUNN, is retiring, so I had to find a new dentist covered by Cigna Medicare. Dr. Dunn was wonderful. I saw him for eight years. He never did a single x-ray on me and my teeth have been excellent until chemo. Damaged my health in many ways. I have autism and severe medically induced PTSD (which I noted in my online form). The ptsd is due to doctors misdiagnosing people in my family. My sister died before age 40 because of misdiagnosis. My healthy cousin, a dancer, died before age 50 due to misdiagnosis. A doctor over prescribed seizure medicines for me; so my liver is permanently damaged So going to any doctor, including dentists, puts me into panic attacks I am happy my Cigna rep helped me find another dentist; and was extremely compassionate about my "fight" response to fear When the receptionist kept arguing that I MUST get x-rays, I went into "fight" mode (argued in person/on phone later). My mother is an RN and I grew up being told to ask questions because doctors often make mistake mistakes. After what happened to my cousin, sister and me, I will refuse a treatment that I feel is bad for my health. Healthcare workers need to understand that every patient is different

I had a crown break and come off over the weekend. Searched the internet for dentists on Monday. Dr. Wallin had great reviews. I called and his office was closed until Tuesday. I was not in pain, so left a message expecting an appointment within a couple of weeks. Tuesday morning I receive a call from Dr. Wallin's office telling me they could fit me in at 11am that morning! When Dr. Wallin and his assistants examined by crown situation, he told me that they had a last minute cancellation and he would be able to fit me for a new crown right then!! Additionally, I explained that I was late for a cleaning. He checked with his Hygienist, and she said she would clean my teeth while I was there too! Less than 2 hours later I walked out following a full dental exam, complete set of new xrays, and a sonar teeth cleaning to boot. Dr. Wallin provided me with a full consultation about the condition of my teeth, gums and mouth. One of his nurses gave me an injection prior to preparing my new crown and I never felt even a pinch from the needle. The office manager fully explained all itemized costs prior to any procedures and what my insurance would cover. The prices were more than reasonable ( I have had plenty of dental work). I left the office feeling like I just met a bunch of new trustworthy friends who really cared about my health. Everyone was professional, polite, demonstrated experienced care, and extremely friendly. I am glad they had room to accept me as a new patient.
