I've been a loyal customer of this specific store for over 30 years! I will NEVER go to this store again. I've bought multiple sets of tires for 5 different Jeeps, 1 minivan, 2 mini coopers, two sets of 6 tires for my former light weight motorhome. I brought in a tire from my Jeep Liberty to be repaired under the road hazard warranty. They denied it, claiming the tire was too worn. The tire had more than double the tread left over the wear bars, approximately 1/3rd the tread depth. Mind you, I just had another tire on the same vehicle repaired a little over a month ago. He looked it up and said "oh that guy is no longer there - couldn't follow instructions." Like ya right. Just making stuff up to force me into new tires prematurely. I remember the service guy, he was actually pretty sharp and had good mechanical aptitude. So I will not go to this store again and now I question my loyalty to Bridgestone. I've bought Bridgestone tires for everything I own, including my motorcycles and my current heavy class motorhome. About 6 months ago, I wrote Bridgestone corporate asking them the technical difference between two of two of their tire types for my Goldwing. All I got was a reply sales pitch, rather than the actual difference in characteristics. This makes me question Bridgestone as a company over all. WARNING: IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR, CONSIDER USING A DIFFERENT LOCATION. I realize this country has tremendous racial tension, but one place I never expected to see this expressed so vehemently was with Firestone where I was rudely denied service for false reasons. I have utilized this location 3-4 times since moving to St. Charles, but my working relationship with Firestone goes back over a decade, dating back to my days of working for Enterprise and servicing our fleet through Firestones all over the country. Needless to say I am very familiar with automotive safety. I set an appointment earlier in the week to have my winter tires removed and my Continental Contisportcontact SP ZR rated (Summer tires) mounted. The summer tires are nearly brand new and have less than 1,200 miles, as I barely drove my performance SUV before the seasons changed. Upon my timely arrival for my appointment, I parked my pick-up truck holding the tires in front of the garage and my wife parked my SUV in a parking spot. Gary Roberts looked at me, then walked out to the garage and briefly glimpsed at my pick-up that carried the tires from about 15 feet away for less than 30 seconds then walked back into the facility where I was coldly greeted with a "Can I help you?" Reading his unwelcoming energy, I cut to the chase and informed him I was here for my appointment where he coldly retorted "What for?" I needlessly explained the reason for my appointment that I know is documented in their system. Gary first said "the profile of those tires are too low and we don't have the machinery to do anything with them." I asked "how could that be when you all mounted, then unmounted these very tires, and even mounted the winter tires that are on there now?" Gary said I've never seen either of those vehicles before and I've worked here for 6-7 years now. Why does that even matter, as I'm sure Firestone is not paying him to work 24-7 on every vehicle? Then he said well "the tread depth is too low and we have a policy in place, so I can't do it." I told him to keep his policy, and I'll keep my money. Keep in mind he only saw my tires for less than 30 seconds from 15 feet away, so how could he make this distinction without a tread depth gauge? If he is able to eyeball tread depth from 15 feet away, he should definitely own his own tire shop vs. working for Firestone. I realized Gary was just looking for reasons to not do business with me at all. On something as important as tires, I didn't want him to even touch my vehicle at this point. Was it because I'm a young black man? The world may never know, but I've never faced such rude customer service in my life. He could have at least taken a tread depth gauge and tried to prove his assumption, but his very matter of fact/ case closed demeanor and need to be right demonstrated his lack of desire to accommodate my appointment, which proves to me it had nothing to do with Firestone's policy. In fact to prove a point, I called the Firestone in Batavia, to inquire what the necessary tread depth requirements were for mounting tires and the gentleman said 4/32nds would be just fine. At a minimum each of my tires were above 5/32nds+. I was able to have my summer tires put on without any issue and I was treated warmly at the Batavia location. This proved to me that the problem is Gary Roberts and until he receives some sort of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion as well as customer service training or perhaps relieved of his position, I would recommend any person of color AVOID the East Main Street St. Charles location at all cost. Do NOT spend your money where you are not appreciated. Below are the tread depths of the tires also a picture of them mounted by the great team at Firestone Batavia at 351 S. Randall Rd. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! I paid $380 to have a few simple tasks completed. Not only did they do NONE of what i paid for, but they left parts off of the car that caused a brake problem. They also added an "automatic", "compete vehicle inspection" charge, never mentioned , never requested, AND NOT DONE. They did refund my total payment. The next day, it was STILL leaking coolant. I brought it back. They had to apparently fix something that they didn't notice the first time. $1200 later, the car is still leaking coolant. I tried to bring the car back because I've already paid so much, I felt they needed to fix the issue correctly. The mechanic was on vacation and we were told they would figure out what happened. Jeff & Tony in the sales department were fantastic, they helped me out so much and were so friendly from the phone to in person. They both ensured I did not miss out on rebates & discounts offered, and that I felt at ease with their recommendations before the repairs started. I cannot speak for any previous negative reviews, but I have dealt with this particular location a number of times and they have always been very knowledgeable and courteous with me. Whenever I have an issue, I usually talk to Tom or Ryan and they are always eager to address whatever issue I have at that moment. This time, I needed a set of tires for my car and with their help and knowledge, we were able to figure out the best option for my Mercedes and after doing research on my own, I can say that they knew exactly what was best for my vehicle. A great service that Firestone offers is that they will check the tire pressure on your car for free! You just pull up to the bay and someone comes out to check your tires for you. Even though they do it for free, I always tip them because I could easily just pull into the gas station next door and do it myself. Sometimes, I just don't feel like going from station to station to see which air pressure machine is working and I really don't feel like going into the store to wait in line for change and then sweating while trying to check all tires before the air runs out and not to mention, getting my hands extremely dirty. Gary was a great help when it came to my brakes. After an oil change was completed, I asked if they could look at the squeaking in my brakes. To my surprise I needed all new pads and rotors resurfaced. They were scheduled to close in an hour but the team was able to my car done and stayed 45 minutes passed closing time. Gary was very patient and made great conversation while I waited. Worst service. I made an appointment for 2:45pm and brought my car in for oil change and tires. They tell me they will call me in 45 min. I wait 2 hours and call them, they say itll be ready in an hour. I show up an hour later and I see they haven't even started working on my car yet. Then I have to wait in parking lot for another hour. Process was 4.5 hours long and for a costumer who made an appointment. Dont lie about times, people have lives. read more

I don't normally do reviews, but sometimes when you get more than you expect, a review is appropriate. I had a tire that would chronically lose air, so I stopped in here to see what they could do. They asked me to come back in an hour because they were honestly booked-up in the middle of a number of planned repairs. So I did, and they checked the tire out, found the leak, sealed it, and I was out of there in 30 minutes. The charge was around $37 and I was very happy about that because I thought it was very fair. We are still waiting a call back from the manager - after bringing our car in to have the tires checked before our daughter took a long road trip, I had asked them to check two tires. Soon after leaving the state, my daughter had to pull off the side of the road sensing something was wrong with the tire they worked on - ALL THE BOLTS HAD COME OFF!! Staff is very polite and have spent the time to work with the customer. They did not try to oversell anything to me and worked closely to adjust the quotes on few possible choices for tires(remove road hazard option if not desired) . However I'm not convinced they know well the tires they sell. I went there after doing my homework on the tires performance and was basically interested in the out-of-door price difference between the few options.Still I did asked about their opinion on the performance. The younger person was basically reading the advertizement labels next to each display tire, while was answering my questions on the performance, which of course was kind of useless. A good move was when he cross checked his final recommendation with a employee with higher seniority. Unfortunately their best match for me was a tire which I knew I would avoid as a bad match for my needs. I would not wary to have them install tires on my cars, as I have been using other shops from the same chain. As far as they follow their established installation procedures they would do a good jobs. But will not let them choose a tire for me. It is interesting to mention that a other shop from the chain had recommended the exactly same tire, which I knew is best for me at my previous tires change (now discontinued and NA) In short - I would not skip my own research on the tires before going to this place. terrible place - brought my car in here needing a tire repaired based on a recommendation from my mechanic who had just inspected my front and rear brakes. My mechanic replaced the rear brakes, installed new rotors and told me my front brakes were good for now. When Firestone called me to tell me the tire was fixed, they told me my front brakes were dangerously worn down and needed replacing - I went back to my mechanic's garage. They reinspected the brakes and wrote out a receipt stating I had at least 8000 CITY miles left on my front brakes. When I told Firestone they tried to save face and say the front brakes needed replacing but obviously they were lying. read more

Wow. I don't know what to say. I found this this Firestone by accident while waiting for an appointment. I was greeted at the door by a very friendly lady named Danielle and told her I need a new front tire. I was introduced to the manager Tom who was amazing he checked all of my tires and gave me an excellent deal on a whole set. While working on my tires they discovered why my car was shaking at high speeds. It was a ball joint. I know nothing about cars so Tom showed me a video that explained everything and why it was important to get it repaired asap. This store is high tech and really friendly. Moved to the area recently, and with a nail in my tire I wasn't sure where to go. I figured "Firestone" might be synonymous with "tires" so I drove to this store. What a perfect choice. The service was excellent, quick, well priced, and very cordial. They see you coming and walk over to open the door for you. It may not be a 'big deal' but certainly speaks to their concept of customer service. I was taken immediately....it was a nail slow leak...they patched the tire/check all the other tires/topped of my window fluid/and gave me a coupon for the next door car wash. There were two customers inside and about three others came during the 20" I was there. I cannot more highly recommend this establishment. They didn't try to sell me anything (one of my great annoyances in life) and took care of my issue with ease. Even the actual mechanic, who drove my car out to the front, was engaging and seemed pleased that I took the time to thank him for his expertise. Especially, Chris who is super nice and very attentive when I'm talking with him. Just recently brought my 4runner in and I thought I might need new brake pads and was a little concerned. Well, I got a call from Chris telling me that my brakes were great and I didn't need to replace them! What a relief! The best part is how honest and truthful Chris and everybody working there are! Had a flat tire on my trailer. Found the rubber valve stem was cracked. Called Firestone spoke to Brian and told him what I had and asked if I brought the wheel in if they could simply replace my valve stem. He said no problem. Took the wheel off and drove over. Brian looked at my wheel and said corporate policy states they cannot work on tires that small? I told him I was kind of in a jam because I had sold the trailer and some one was actually coming to pick it up. He would not replace the valve stem. I asked if he could break the bead on the tire so I could replace the valve stem myself and again he said "corporate policy" precludes him from servicing a tire that small? The tire is a normal size and not what I would refer to as small. I left pretty pissed off and drove across the street to Pep Boys. I was there for about 5 minutes and left with the tire repaired. THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have worked as a dealership service manager for 18 years , owned my own repair shop for 8 years so I very familiar with automotive repair shops. Its sad that good customer service is so hard to find. Pep Boys will get all my tire business moving forward. Because of my previous positions I get a lot of people asking me for referrals and I will be sure to let them know of the poor customer service I received at Firestone of St Charles. I'd give more stars if I could. You expect to get ripped off at anything related to car repair. That couldn't be further from the truth at the St Charles Firestone. Not only did they have some great sales going for tires and brakes, they also gave us some promo coupons. They even delivered the car back to our house when it was done! And the story doesn't end there! On delivery there was a surprise. Last year some jerk hit my back bumper in a parking lot and left, so my bumper has been bungee cord rigged and had a dent. When they dropped the car off they said they noticed that it was broken, so they popped out the dent and put some new brackets on to re-attach it! I no longer need to pay for body repair after needing new tires and brakes too! Kaitlin and Ryan were excellent customer service reps and the service team clearly went above and beyond. Tom the manager doesn't seem to know his a** from a hole in the ground or he just doesn't know how to read. Maybe both. After getting TIRES put on our car we drove off the the lot with a clicking sound coming from one of the rear tires. We brought the car back immediately to have it checked by one of their ASE mechanics! Apparently, he couldn't find any issue. They tried to blame my break job that was recently done somewhere else. I brought the car home and after an hour found the problem! Got it fixed the next day by them without any apologies. They had used too thick of a balancing weight when mounting the tires. The weight was hitting something else when the wheel turned. Anyways, their manager is frequently defensive and can NEVER ADMIT WHEN HE'S WRONG! He is rude and abrasive. So if you go in their watch out for the manager! He's the one wearing the strange glasses and talks with a mush mouth slur. Good luck! read more

I wasn't aware that Firestone offered services other than tires, the tire branding is so deeply imprinted, and I never thought to look until a couple of days ago, at the end of a really crap two weeks, I was driving my doddering minivan thru the western suburbs when I realized the interior was getting unpleasantly hot- like surface of the sun hot. I drove to a BP in a panic looking for a mechanic and he told me to go next door to this Firestone branch. One of the staff members said he'd take a look at it, he flipped a couple of switches and told me I was good to go- and there was no charge. So, Jiffy Lube, what do you say to that? After years of great service the day-to-day management has changed. The service has suffered culminating in this evening when they gave me my car back with a loud metal on metal noise coming from the engine. When I questioned it I was told the mechanic said it was there when I dropped off the car. Even if it had been making that noise they should not have in good conscience returned it to a customer without at least questioning it. That is why I know the mechanic screwed up.
