Ken's reminds me of the old Denny's Service Center, the mechanic I had been taking all of my cars to from my first until I found Ken's after moving from the South Side over 20 years ago. Anyone who knows of the old Denny's knows this is the highest praise I can give a mechanic shop. I have been going here for years. When I moved to the are many years ago, I was looking for a place to take my car that filled the three main criteria for any business I can be loyal to: Honest, Competent and Fair Priced. I had a headlight go out right before a trip I was making and didn't realize it until 4:30 and I called the shop and they said bring it on over we'll fix it for you. There have been other times that I had an emergency and they were able to help me out. I used to use Ken's years ago but then moved away in 2014. The crew were hard at work when I pulled in with a desperate issue.. they are very well known as a great shop.. not corporate oversold, the reputation is the fix is right the first time with a correct price. I would rather pay once done right. They were booked up, but despite it being a sweaty 90 degree day, " they would take a peek at issue" ... before I knew it, they had it in the air doing a diagnosis. Now I had just come from a huge chain dealer.. they told me to be on my way, with my fender rubbing my tire.. brand new tire. I wanna say Zack? Helped me.. but they are all great I hear. They too 20 minutes, made some adjustments... fixed!!!! I offered them triple the cost... they refused a dime.. even cash. They just helped me .. for free.. on a really hot day... even gave me bottled water. I snuck $25 under a plant.. and left happier with the car, myself, definitely Ken's and frankly humanity! They did it because they knew how desperate I was to get on the road. I am not "old" but I am officially disabled. Part cognitive... they really helped me. God love them! read more

After jumping my dead van at my grandson's school today, I called Ken's to schedule an appointment and see if they keep batteries on hand. One word comes to mind in describing Ken and his mechanics work: INTEGRITY! No I lied: two INTEGRITY, EXCELLENCE IN WORKMANSHIP. No, I have to add HONESTY, VERY REASONABLE, WOMAN-FRIENDLY, KIND. There really is NOT enough you can say about this shop. They have maintained our used 93 Camry in perfect running condition for some nearly 20 years, and another Camry previously. They stand by ALL their work. They have a TOP NOTCH woman mechanic (Theresa - a pearl) and in fact all the mechanics are excellent, and fast, and Ken is a real, lovely human being. With all that there is to worry about in life, to have a shop of this caliber to rely on is nothing short of a blessing. When I lived in Chicago I would bring my car back, and would do so again without hesitation. I've stumbled on this Yelp listing while looking for Ken's number as a return customer. I've used Ken since the year I got my drivers license (16 years ago). I live 45 minutes away now and have had to use other garages for location reasons. You can't beat Ken's for honest and integrity. It's hard to find businesses like this in today's marketplace. I'm going 45 minutes away for car work because I am pretty sure the last couple of local places I've used have over charged me for incorrectly diagnosed work. read more

We have lived in St. Charles for almost 8 yrs and Ken's Auto Center has been our go to place. We have had estimates from the Volkswagen and Honda dealerships close-by to us but Ken's has always told us what needs to be done and at a much much more reasonable cost. We have asked them to make sure our way too old minivan would be safe to take out for a family trip to Yellowstone and Montana and they have kept us safe and happy at a great cost. We are moving and we are sad to leave a trusted place like Ken's Auto Center because they have always had our back and we, quite frankly, just trust them to keep our family safe and keep our autos on the road for as long as possible. Our last time there, Ken offered said "don't forget your calendar" and we said, "no it's ok, keep it for your customers who will need them, we're moving, but please accept our thanks for what you've done for us".
