A visit to the store, a call to the store, and two calls to corporate and they still can not figure out how to refund $40. Do not go to this shop- 12/24/23- Replaced all 4 break jobs including the rotor and rear right tire replaced. cost $1240.44. After I picked up the car, I noticed the wheel was vibrating specially goin over 40mps, it was worse going over 60mph. I thought it was just the road so I ignored it. 01/17/24 - Replaced rear right flat tire. I asked for the cheapest tire but SA said the cheapest he have is worth $261.00 2/29/24 - Right front tire blew driving at 75 mph at i290, pulled over on the left shoulder. Called my insurance and got it towed at Firestone in Des plaines. 3/1/24 They called and said that the cause of the tire blowing up is because it was worn out inside and the left rear shocks was getting bad and the tire also need to be replaced. I told SA to only replaced the 2 front tires since i dont have money to cover the back repair. I said the cheapest. He found me 2 tires worth about $220 plus he said i need alignment $100 and oil change $65. I said ok get it done. Picked up my car at around 5 pm . start the car and i noticed the ABS light and other maintenance lights are on and also the steering wheel were hard to turn. So, they took it back in the garage, waited 1 hr, and said it needs new sensor. 3/4/24 Stopped by to get the sensor replaced. After its done. I asked the SA why was the issue with shock in the left rear was not caught? SA said, it was not significant then, they didnt notice. So, I said "How long do I have to get this fix so it doesnt happen again?" SA said. Right now its not a necessity and it can wait. Really? I thin, when they changed my Breaks they messed something up and fixed it when they changed the front tires and did the alignment. Also, he didnt sell me the cheapest tire in the beginning. instead sold me a 300$ tire. SA names are Rafael and Thomas. They messed up my 2017 Veloster when they change all breaking system and they blamed it on the left rear shock. Yet, they say it is not a necessity right now. Brought my car in, first thing in the morning. Left the car with my contact number, so they could call. When I did not receive a call by 6PM, I looked up their phone number on both Yahoo and the Firestone site to call them. Both sites said they close at 8PM. No answer to my call. Over there by 7PM and they had indeed pulled my car inside their facility and had locked up for the night. Called the next morning to find out the status of my car, telling them I had not received a call yesterday. Was told car was done the day before. The team was not personable, rather gruff, when I came in, and of course no apology at all for not calling the night before, or for not notifying anyone they were not following their stated hours (nothing on the door either with their hours). Finally, although the seatback, floormat, and steering wheel were covered, the seat bottom was left filthy from people sitting in the car (with all the other surfaces covered, why not cover the seat bottom?). I feel so wronged by this place. I have been a customer of them for years, and the service was never slap your mother good but I had never had the experience I had recently. I got an oil change and asked them to check everything and make sure my car was running well because I was going on a trip and needed my car to travel across states. They assured me that was part of what they would do. Now, I will give it to them that it was very busy when I went. But I was more than happy to wait. I live very close and went home while it was being done. I picked my car up and everything seemed fine. I'm sure you can see where this review is going... Sure enough, my car broke down in Indiana. It is only a 2 year old car. When we looked under the hood, no oil. Whoever was working on my car at the time must have forgotten to change the oil filter and it came loose and all the oil leaked out of my car. Which, fine, if someone makes a mistake, I am ok with that. But my car was also bone dry of coolant as well! So when they reassured me that my car was running great and everything looked good, including the fluid levels, they lied. Lucky for me I had friends with me who knew cars and were able to help me. The KICKER is that when I called them to let them know what happened, they just thanked me for letting them know and didn't even seem sorry. I don't need free things or discounts or anything, but if they had at least acted like they cared that I was stranded in Indiana, I may want to give them my business again. In a world where people have options where to spend their money, this place needs to be better about their customer service. If you're wondering if you should take your car here, I've had other experiences that were just fine here, nothing special. But if you ask me, I'd rather spend my money in a place that takes their time, does quality work, respects me as a customer and wants me to come back. This is not that place. read more

IF you want to make appointment after appointment only to be told when you show up that they don't have an appointment for you and it must be your mistake, you called another store, etc., bring your car here. IF you want to bring your car in for normal Firestone things like tires, rotation and an oil change, but they just can't seem to fix the right tire, get much of anything right, but again it's your fault and to get it right you have to come back three other times, bring your car here. IF you want your car keyed because when you brought your car in and they didn't do it correctly or in a timely manner and you couldn't pick it up until the next day, and they parked it facing the busy street overnight, bring your car here. Manager was no help at all either at any point. This place should be shuttered. read more

Went to a Mothers Day breakfast, on the way home my rear passenger tire picked up a screw in it. Went to Firestone because I knew they were open on Sunday. I was greeted by Anthony V. who asked me what he can do for me today, and I explained the situation about my tire and he said it would take a while because they were busy at the time. So I asked when I can pick up my F-150 and he said around 3pm. No problem, I said, and came back around 230pm, talked to Esteban about the tire. He showed me the screw and said he was able to plug the hole. He was very professional. As I was checking out, I told Anthony that I appreciate him being honest on what had to be done and when it would be done. I took my car here for brakes and rotors front and back. It was expensive but I thought I could atleast trust Fire Stone. I was wrong. They called me three times to ask if I wanted a new air filter or oil change ( I had just had one somewhere else last week) I finally said stay out of under my hood just brakes and rotors because they harass you to get more money. I get back my car and it's driving different and not in a good way. 2 weeks later I go to advance auto to buy a battery because I can tell my car is not at full power. The worker pops the hood and my air filter is laying on top of my engine. So these scammers took it out, they shouldn't have even been touching it and as far as I understand this could do damage to my car. I called for two weeks now trying to talk to manager Alex who is never there and will not call me back even though I have left messages with his staff. These people are SCAM ARTISTS. Went in to get windshield wipers fixed, since they fell off the track. We came back to find out they changed out my wipers, but looked at my whole car. This doesn't sound bad, but they then told me I needed about $800 of work done, including my wheel bearings. I just got my brakes done at the place my family usually goes to, so I know this couldn't be possible. I also called my dad, who taught auto mechanic engineering for years and he even said "some places will tell you something easy to fix is wrong with a big price tag." I had been going to this Firestone for more than five years and always had a great experience until this last time. I needed a headlight bulb replaced. After an hour of seeing my car on the lift, I asked how long this was going to take. "Oh, just a few more minutes," the person in charge said. I asked again a half-hour later and received the same response. After yet another half-hour, the person said that this was a complicated process because they had to take the bumper off and had he known this beforehand, he would have sent me to the dealer (you can't send me anywhere; I choose where I take my car). He then said I was lucky he wasn't charging me extra for labor. He was very rude and condescending and refused to provide me his district manager's name, instead giving me a web address. Alex was honest, courteous, well-informed and didn't look like a scummy mechanic. The shop, back counter area and waiting room were all clean and well organized; a sign that the employees pay attention to detail. I needed new tires from my MR2 Spyder and two Toyota dealers told me the tire is discontinued and did not help me track down what I needed. Alex spent 3 hours trying to track down tires from me, which he successfully did. I wish my Mercedes dealer was as good to me as the team this Firestone was. I'm not sure if he's the manager or owner, but he definitely treats the place like he is and takes pride/responsibility in his work. read more

Once I tried to get my tires checked, and they determined.that part of the tire was shoddy, wanted a couple thousand, and when I said 'just put on the tire', they told me that it was unsafe to drive, and they were going to refuse letting me drive the car out of the lot. They will not own up to there mistakes. I would not trust them with my car and the manager Alex has poor customer service skills. If there is an error made, the manager will get mad at the customer. The State's Attorney needs to investigate this place. I phoned on Saturday afternoon to ask if they repaired tires; they said they did, but could only give me an appointment for 2 p.m. Sunday. Took it in Sunday at 2. They drove it into the bay sometime after 3. After another half hour, Augi Barbosa, a "Sales Teammate" (according to his card) came out and said that Illinois law prohibits them from repairing a tire over five years old--he lied right to my face. He also said that there were 3 nails in it. Then he gave me a quote to replace that one tire for $350, probably assuming that I would need it the next morning--after their stalling it was almost 4 on Sunday. . I took my car back. The tire was repaired at the local gas station, where they took a piece of metal out of it and patched it for $20. There is no law in Illinois that says "can't repair a tire over five years old." read more

I am VERY disappointed with this Firestone location. I was waiting for my car to be finished and another customer came in and was VERY upset regarding some service that they had "completed" on her vehicle. That should have tipped me off, but I said nope. My car is simple and shouldn't take that long. I had an air-conditioning problem and I had them look at it. They charged me 1300 dollars to have it fixed. I don't know if they knew there was a recession, but I don't have 1300 dollars just lying around, nor do I want to drive around ChicagoLand in 100+ degree heat. So, I pulled money out of my 401K and savings and paid them their price. I received my vehicle back and drove it for 24 hours and my air-conditioner stopped working. How odd? I took it back to them and they said, "Oh, you are missing a relay and that is an additional 50 dollars". I had already paid 1300 dollars to these people, so what is 50 dollars? I paid and they "fixed" it and I returned back to my day to day. Two days later, same problem. I came back and they looked and looked and said that there was nothing wrong. They had to wait on some expert to come back from a "family emergency". When he got back I took the vehicle back in and now they tell me, "Oh, you have a bad compressor and we need 1100 dollars to fix it". EXCUSE ME!! Absolutely NOT! I paid you money to find the problem. You said you did. Now you want another 1100 dollars from me to fix another problem. You must be crazy!! I have been without air for a month and my two kids are sweating bullets. Stoped by this location because its close to where I live. It was around 11am and the place didn't seem to be very busy. I needed 2 new tires before leaving for a long trip. They didn't have specific tires in stock and they needed to be delivered from Arlington Heights which is fairly close. I was told that they will call me around 1:30pm when the tires arrive and I can come back to get them changed. By 3pm I haven't heard from them and decided to go back. They had the tires but no one was kind enough to notify me. I was already angry that they completely forgot about the service I needed to have done. They were very busy at that time and I was told that they should get it done by closing time. Time was my number one priority but no one seemed to care. Don't trust them. Sold me tires that they said were part of a promotional rebate and later found out they were not. Then they tell me I have a leaking transmission line which will cost $600 to replace and fix the line. I said no thank you and took it to another repair shop. During my conversation with the clerk, He took the time to understand my car problem and even gave me some helpful advices. Poor service in general. I order from Tirerack.com and had my tires shipped to Firestone for installation (this service can be found on their website). Part of the installation includes new valve stems, however they were not installed on my vehicle. When I called the manager he said they didn't have any in stock and failed to notify me of this when I picked up the car (he probably forgot and was hoping I wouldn't notice). I was clear to ask if they would be replacing them when I dropped off the car. 4 weeks later I had a nail in my tire and figured I'd give them a second chance. I explained that not long ago they forgot to put valve stems on my car and if they would replace them since my car was back in their shop. Adam and Alex said yes that they would take care of it this time. After they repaired the wheel they had a list of repairs for over $1,400! I explained that I just wanted them to repair the tire and change the valve stems for now. Adam replied "OK boss" and assured me over the phone it was done. When I picked up the vehicle they valve stems were still not replaced! After he said they did over the phone. He said I didn't mention it to him and that there must have been a misunderstanding. I brought my car in to have two rear tires replaced, and to get an oil change. They called me to say that my front wheel bearings needed to be replaced, the mechanic said "I've seen some bad bearings, but yours are really, really bad." He also explained the danger of driving on bad bearings and told me it would be about $650 for the repair, plus however much the alignment would cost. I declined the repair and brought the car to my family mechanic two days later. He told me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my wheel bearings.
