Spoke to a gentleman named Ronald who quoted me on 1hr 30 min for brakes/rotors, and oil change. Going on 3hr+ for service; turns out when I asked one of the three managers on duty what's the hold up they stated "That they are training someone on doing the breaks." (SMH) At one point there were three people working on the car at one time. Not pleased with the turn around time, and I'm pretty worried about the quality. Never again will I come to an oil change "brick and motor" for a break job even if the "time" quoted is appealing. This shop is not equipped with the expertise to do a break job the mechanics here are at best do it yourself guys in their home garages. read more

About a year ago, an incompetent employee spilled oil all over my engine compartment. Don't how much got into my oil pan. They have no quality control. When referred to main office, I received only a run around. Wanted them to do a new and free oil change and they refused. Suggestion: A) Don't go there or B) If you do chance them doing a competent job, DO NOT SIT IN YOUR CAR WHERE YOU CANT SEE THE WORK BIENG DONE. My car had around 395,000 miles on odometer, so if they destroyed it it would be worth nothing. Obviously that's what they would have given me for destroying my car. Find someone trustworthy. I have been coming to this location for 20+ years and sadly I will not return. After the treatment tonight from the rude worker, I'm finished. I stopped last week in the morning and after waiting 20 minutes for the worker to greet me, I found out my oil could not be changed due to the computers not being up. Unfortunately, I had to go to work so I could not wait any longer. Then tonight, I arrived 6:54, the lights were on, there were 3 people inside and the bay door was open. When I started to pull in the bay, worker yelled at me that they were closed. After I told her it wasn't quite 7pm yet and that I tried to come last week too but they could not change my oil then - she yelled " Well we can't change it tonight either" thanks for the customer service - good bye!! read more

I've been coming to this location for many years - since before they were branded "Grease Monkey". The service is hit and miss these days, though crew is still friendly. It sometimes takes several visits for them to be able to include a tire rotation - something was wrong with the equipment, they were short handed, it was too close to closing, or a car was just parked there for some reason. Their latest issue, in January (!!!) is that they don't have washer fluid. This has been at least 3 weeks (as of last weekend) since I haven't been able to get topped off, and my wife's car was not able to get filled. We had to go to the home store next door to get a gallon ourselves. One of the big issues with this is that it's a safety thing with people using washer fluid to clean the salt grime, and also we both paid for it and it was checked as done on their invoice! NOT TRUE! Guys, go out and buy a few gallons to properly service your customers with what they pay for AND assume they are getting! read more

Was a repeat customer until last week. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Filed complaint at corporate. NO RESPONSE. Later talked to manager who had received my complaint and sanctioned all techs working at the time, but no one has responded to my complaints. VERY POOR BUSINESS ETHICS. Had a great experience at the Mount Prospect Grease Monkey. The manager made sure that I had a Great experience. He was very personable and very kindly explained the pros and cons of upgrading my synthetic oil. Although I am used to people up-selling. This guy was very good at his job, and said he would work out a way to offer me a discount to make the purchase more pallatable. I found him to be a joy to talk to and exchange pleasantries. Went there today for an oil change . This was my third time going to this location. This is the only place I will go now that charges a decent price and doesn't rip you off. The young man with curly hair that did our oil change in the first bay around 3:15 was so pleasant to deal with . We will be back again for our future oil changes. I also liked that he knew what order our car was in and when it was our turn to make sure it was fair. read more

Would be zero if I could! They put the incorrect oil filter on the vehicle and it fell off while driving. This caused the car to lose all its oil and damaged the engine internally. Now mechanic says the entire motor needs to be replaced due to the damaged occurred from the engine running with no oil in it! They are making me wait for a refund on the oil change I paid them to do which obviously they couldn't do correctly as I was told "they cannot do that at the store level". They told me I need to submit a claim form for the damages and directed me to a specific web page and that page says the store needs to submit the claim not the customer? I was supposed to be contacted by their district manager and that still has not happened. I still have not received my refund or any indication that they are going to take responsibility for this. Called their cooperate customer service number and got an answering service that said someone would call me back and they also have not. Been a customer at this location 30 years even before it was Grease Monkey and within the last two years it has gone down hill. They don't even complete all the services they are supposed to without you as the customer asking. Not going back again, and will spread the word to all those I can to not go there for services! read more

There was no line when I got there yet it took 1.5hours to get my oil changed... and they didn't do the 16PT inspection that is included with service. I used to like this place but now this new supervisor (Matt I think) is constantly yelling at people, including customers. Gave me a headache after 1.5 hours so I feel bad for the workers. I'm a returning customer so I'm sad to see this place go downhill. I think I'll go to the dealership next time, it's cheaper anyways. read more

I was told that a cabin air filter was $35, which seemed high given that they are a bit cheaper. But my car was there for an oil change anyway and I told them to go ahead. When I got the e-mailed receipt, they charged my $48 for a $20 part that can be replaced in 2 minutes. Not going back. read more

STEER AWAY FROM THE MT. PROSPECT GREASE MONKEY Took my SUV to Grease Monkey in Mt. Prospect for an oil change and radiator flush - check engine light came on within a week. My mechanic told me the coolant was down 1 gallon because the upper radiator hose was not attached. Grease Monkey caused $600 of damage to a car they serviced and refused to make it right after ample opportunity. Both Emanuel (manager) and Mike (district manager) lied about processing the claim. Quick and very professional, Will (technician) provided great service with a great attitude. Appreciate everyone's hard work in the midst of COVID. Didn't have to get out of the car, everyone masked up for each others safety, and sanitized my credit card after finalizing the bill. Even offered hand sanitizer before leaving the service bay. Just paid for a full synthetic super premium oil change. Shop manager explain it's explained to me that the shop oil that he was pumping From the wall was the super premium oil. Brought in a couple cars for oil changes. The dipstick on my old rusty truck fell apart while they were working on it. Jim was VERY helpful and even offered to replace it for free if I got a new one. He was able to do a temporary fix until I can locate the proper part. Thanks again Jim! read more

Not happy. I took my car in for oil change, tire rotation and light bulb change. Guy tells me: it will be awhile for the tire rotation because I have to pack my car all up - it's in that bay. Fine I won't rotate my tires because I don't have 45 minutes to wait for you to pack up your crap in you car. 6 minutes later - your done $39 charge. I leave and go a few blocks - guess they were too busy to fix that light bulb too as I turned my blinker on and it was NOT REPLACED. Did not clean windows or vacuum. Stop using the place as your own personal shop to work on your cars and pay attention to your paying customers. I went in for 3 things and came out with one. Guy was nice but come on - this is stupid. I'll never go here again. read more

They answered so many different questions I had, but maybe you don't have any and it's a simple Oil Change for you. Three different guys were more than willing to help me, show me pictures of my car from their phone and were so friendly. Great service. Friendly staff. You pull in and it feels like I'm at a nascar pit stop. Always a couple techs working on the car. They check all lights, fill up your tires, and windshield wiper fluid, vacuum the floors, and clean the windows all under 15-20 minutes !! During the oil change they run diagnostics on the vehicle and explain everything clearly if any additional services are needed. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the service and efficiency of Grease Monkey always exceeds my expectations and well worth it! Will continue to be a loyal customer! read more

I have been taking my cars here since the Lube Pros days and have been more and more pleasantly surprised with their services as they've grown to Grease Monkeys. When I pull in and the shop is full I'm greeted by a worker within a minute or two despite how busy they are. They have refreshments in the waiting room and the staff is always very polite and professional. They kindly provide me with manufacturer recommendations with no pressure to do them. I was excited to hear that they do breaks and other tasks that I no longer have to go to the dealership for. Grease Monkey did my breaks for almost $300 less than the dealership quoted me. I was in and out within the hour. Had I went to the dealership it would've been an all day occurance. I highly recommend Grease Monkey to my friends, family and coworkers! read more

The oil change was somewhat expensive ($50), but it seemed like they did a good job, and there was no wait at the time I went. The problem was that a couple of days later, I noticed (actually, a fellow driver pointed out) that my undercarriage splash guard was about to fall off and was dragging on the road. Apparently, the Grease Monkey crew failed to reattach it properly. Luckily, I teach at a community college (McHenry) with an automotive department, and the guy here was nice enough to help me with a temporary fix using plastic zip ties. After work today, I am going back to Grease Monkey to demand a more permanent solution and (ideally) reimbursement for a new splash guard, as the original was all chewed up. I will edit my review accordingly, depending on how it goes. read more

I bring all five of my cars here and they do make you aware of what needs to be done, some of the reviews indicate that they try to upsell you all the time. My feeling is you do need to do more than just change the oil if you want your car to work right. If I forget a coupon they always give me one anyway. One time I accidently poured snowblower gas into the windshield wiper reservoir and they removed it free and replaced the fluid. Jesus and Isreal are good guys they are the same guys when it was Lube Pros. read more
