I hired FirePro back in May, and they just "finished" their work last week. They did the rough install and all the framing was complete prior to the rough install as per their instructions. Their guys cut a huge hole in the wrong wall, including all the way through the exterior stucco which required extensive repair because of their "oops" mistake. They said that they didn't realize that the exterior water line was at the corner of the house and they literally cut a 1'x4' hole in the wrong wall that we had to repair by replacing the framing and drywall because it was so bad. But I paid ($1,100) to have it repaired and never asked for compensation for their obvious mistake. As "professionals" you would expect that they would know the codes and how things should be installed. After the rough was done, we closed up the ceilings and I paid a lot to have the drywall, plaster and paint done as Robert from FirePro said that they couldn't do the "final" until that was all done. When the inspector came for the final inspection, he informed Robert that 2 of the heads were about 4" off from where they needed to be. Robert came and cut open the ceilings and moved the heads to where they were supposed to be placed. He left huge holes in the ceilings which required me to have the drywall company come back, but when they came back we found that Robert's repair was not done correctly and that we had water leaking through the ceiling and all over the floor. The drywall company had to charge me for coming out and waiting all day for Robert to return to make the repair of the repair, but he never showed... $300 down the drain... Robert then came back another day and I had to pay an additonal $300 for the drywall company to come back and fix the ceiling. Ultimately we passed the inspection, albeit not on time, and with all the head covers crooked and not lined up flush as they should be (see the pics below). After the final I reached out to FirePro to ask them to split the extra $600 I paid due to their mistake, and Robert simply ignored my texts to him for days. I requested that they take $300 off the final bill (only half of what I paid to the drywall company), but it took multiple messages before Robert responded with the following - He told me that it was my fault because a beam that was always there and was original to the house was the cause of the heads being placed in the wrong spot... Wait... what??? He then went on to tell me that he wanted to charge ME an additional $900 for the time it took for him to make his leaky repair. He told me that not only would he not split the extra cost that I had to pay, he wanted me to pay extra! Wow... I wish I was making this up, but I'll include the texts between us so you can see for yourself. Ultimately I told Robert from FirePro that I would pay the final bill of roughly $600, on top of the $600 I paid the drywall company, when they came back out to fix the heads that were all uneven and not remotely flush with the ceilings. And of course, Robert never responded. So now I have fire heads that are all crooked and not remotely flush with the ceilings, I'm out an additional $600 for their mistakes, and Robert has chosen to ignore my messages to him. As a side note, there's nothing like a fire protection company who's owner thinks it's ok to come to a customer's house and smoke cigarettes while hanging out at your house... so gross and quite honestly quite ironic that the same company who is installing fire protection has someone leaving cigarette butts all over my property. There are many fire protection companies out there, so don't make the same mistake that I made... find anyone else other than FirePro if you want the work done correctly the first time; without leaks or bad attitudes. read more

One of our fire sprinkler heads started leaking this morning because of the extreme heat this week. I immediately called Robert this morning and he personally made time to come over this afternoon. He showed me exactly where the leak was coming from and repaired it. He also checked the main water valves going to the fire sprinkler system and reset the low pressure alarm so that it's working properly now. Excellent service again. All that said, be prepared for the sticker shock. They will charge more than quadruple what a plumber would charge. So what would cost a plumber $200 at most, they will charge you $850 for. Plumbers aren't licensed to do their work and as every call is most likely an emergency call with leaking pipes in the attic into your home, they can charge exorbitant amounts. We had to have a sprinkler system installed throughout our 100 year old house when we did a room addition ten years ago. Cost a chunk but we did it and then forgot about it. Until one night last week when our evening TV watch was interrupted by an ear shattering alarm ringing in every room. We had no idea what was setting it off or how to turn it off, and after trying every code on our security system we called the fire department. A team of four very nice (and sympathetic) fire personnel wandered through the house and the backyard trying to figure out how to make it stop (which at least made me feel less stupid). Finally, a tech from the security company realized it was probably a faulty sensor in the small red box on our main water pipe. And one of the fire personnel figured out which unmarked fuse controlled the alarms. FirePro Tech was the only company we called that returned the call promptly. And after requesting pictures of the sensor box, they came back quickly with an estimate. I wish that little red box didn't cost $795, but amortized over ten years, I guess it's pretty reasonable. Robert and his crew do great work at fantastic prices! The work they do is fast, done well and is always much more affordable than going with some of the other "experts" out there. Fire ProTech is licensed and understands even 35 year old sprinkler systems as was my case. We had some issues in my building and the team at Fire Pro took care of multiple issues on multiple visits. Their work is unparalleled and the prices are among the best you will see. Their timeliness and communication however, is not stellar. I have had to wait a couple of hours or more for them to arrive for half of the jobs we have scheduled. It was explained that inspections to close jobs sometimes take longer than expected and if you have ever done any permitted work at home, you know how timely inspectors are, so I totally understand the lateness. It's just relaying that information that is important. As long as you are flexible with your time line, they will get it done right and do it well. read more

UPDATE: FirePro did indeed reach out and we sorted out the situation professionally and politely. Updating to a 5-star review. We have a leak somewhere in our fire sprinkler line. The leak is so tiny that it costs us a whopping $4.24 on our fire sprinkler water bill every other month. Really tiny! Two leak detection companies I contacted suggested I get a fire sprinkler contractor to perform a hydrostatic pressure test to check for a bad valve before employing their very-expensive leak detection service. So I reached out to FirePro based on their positive reviews. Setting up an appointment with Victoria of FirePro and meeting with technicians Nick and Paul all went very smoothly last week! I asked up front about a service call fee and Victoria said there is none--the FirePro fire sprinkler technician would identify the problem and give me a quote for repair when on site. Unfortunately, once on site, FirePro technicians Nick and Paul couldn't find any problem. They tapped our fire sprinkler valves with their finger multiple times and said everything looks good. They offered to cut and cap a pipe to test a particular area (under landscaping) for a whopping $850 fee, but just couldn't find anything wrong with our system. I declined the costly and potentially-destructive test that would not be guaranteed to find anything. I'd rather hire a leak detection company to run helium gas through the entire line for a similar fee than cut one section of pipe in case the leak is in that small area. This potential service FirePro proposed just didn't make sense. A couple hours later, I received a $300 service call invoice. But Victoria specifically explained FirePro does not charge a service fee! I understand professionals need to be compensated for their time and I gladly would pay a more modest service call fee if FirePro had been up front about it when I scheduled the service appointment! But being invoiced for a surprise $300 when the technicians found nothing and the scheduler cited no service fees is just unprofessional. (Side note, our city fire department came out today as a community service to take a look at things and do an inspection as we try to solve this leak mystery. The fire captain identified the leak issue location within just couple of minutes of glancing around the outside of our building!). FirePro is requesting positive reviews with multiple emails and texts encouraging me to leave a review. Unfortunately, my experience with FirePro has just not been great. Perhaps they'll waive or adjust their service fee in light of the abysmal situation? read more
