We attended the D.C. Jazz Fest (6/16/17) and ran across the Fireman Cafe's Food Truck. We ordered catfish sandwiches that came with french fries. It was the best fish sandwich that I've had in a long time! They fried the fish fresh. It was crunchy on the outside tender on the inside. We received a nice amount for a fair price. I will be looking for this restaurant so I can have that fish again. Great food, professional staff and wonderful music. I would recommend fireman to anyone who loves good fish sandwich. read more

This truck was outside of my job one day so I decided to try them out. They were ok. Very deceiving. Before I went to order I checked them out online and saw a crab sub sandwich I thought looked tasty. Went to the truck and ordered it only to get a crab cake sandwich that has the same name. Turns out what I saw online was a "coming soon" meal. They definitely should have mentioned that. The fries were good. Speedy service. I'm just not happy with the deceiving food online that they advertise but don't have. read more

I recently visited the Fireman's Cafe. I love to support black owned businesses. I was first impressed by the excellent customer service and cleanliness of the establishment. I ordered the catfish meal with Mack & cheese, greens and a side order of lemon pepper wings. Everything was seasoned to perfection. Man oh Man!!! Fisherman's Cafe is absolutely amazing. I cannot get over how great this food is. Heard about it from a family member and man were they right. First things first...The Shrab Cake is heaven. I'm talking about absolutely great. The menu was so enticing that we wanted to order everything. We got the Shrab Cake, Shrab Roll and Shrab fries. I can't get over how great this Shrab is. Hold on while I take another bite................Ok I'm back...where was I? So stuck on this Shrab that I didn't even mention this slab of ribs. The seasoning on these ribs is great. They are as tender as you could get. The sauce...man the sauce is great. We also go wings and they shutting any wing spot down...I Promise You!! I didn't even mention the sides yet. Mac and cheese was unreal. Yams are by far the best yams I've ever had...Period. Man them Yams!! Greens were amazing. Potato salad was amazing. Hush puppies aren't even made like this anymore, well at least I thought they wasn't. Then the folks serving you this great food are top notch. Great people who better get used to seeing my face more than a couple times a month. Folks get here and get here fast. Fireman's Cafe truck was in the area of my job and I missed them so my cousin told me they had a restaurant in Clinton. It's located on the side of Rita's of Woodyard, many may miss it but hopefully these reviews will bring more business. The food was delicious and the staff was very nice and professional. This place will give Horace and Dickies a run for their money. I got the whiting that was nicely coated and the yams were to die for. Pure Disappointment... Made a special trip from work in Alexandria, VA for lunch because I was remembering my last meal which was excellent. However, this visit left me with th he opposite effect. I arrived at 12:04pm, pulled on the door they were closed and lights were off. So I leave, as I pull off I see a young man at black car talking to someone and then he walks towards the building. I started on my way back to work but pissed because I traveled all this way and no food. So I called before getting to far, someone answered and I asked what time they open. He said they were open now he just got in. I went back place an order for chicken wing platter and shrab fries. He was very polite said 15 minutes, I waited went to get my food and he said 2 more minutes. Meanwhile, the girl was in the car was served. Anyway the food came I jumped in my car because I was running late had to get back to work. So while driving I grab my fries to eat, they were warm like they were sitting under a heating lamp and after waiting for fresh hot food. My chicken was pale, warm, chewy not crispy, and old, had cooked blood seeping through the skin. The only reason I ordered this particular meal was because the last visit I saw beautifully fresh cooked golden crispy chicken and hot shrab fries. The steam was coming off the food. This place is awesome. A must try if you're in town. We had the Shrab cake sandwich (shrimp and crab cake), Mac and cheese (to die for), butterfly shrimp (mouth watering) and cornbread (has a sweet, almost dessert like flavor) . This guy adds his own touch and ingredients to every recipe so you've never had something that tasted like it but my goodness everything was SO DELICIOUS. Today was my first time trying this food truck and I'm glad I did. I had the fried chicken wings, mac and cheese and collard greens. I really liked the chicken and mac and cheese. The customer service was excellent as well. The young lady who took the orders today was patient and was able to answer all my questions and gave good advice. Even when I changed my order she did so pleasantly and swiftly. Will definitely be a returning customer. read more

I thought the food was competitive with the other restaurants in Clinton. The Shrab is decent. It was a little salty. The potato salad was salty. The restaurant was cleaner than most in the area which is a plus. I think the restaurant could pull more foot traffic if their signage was readable from road.A different logo would be usefully for the road. In addition, people don't know what Fireman's Cafe means. They don't know what type of food is served. A sign that said something like, Seafood and Soul Food in addition to Fireman's Cafe would help. For example, Rita's sign let's you know it is Italian ice. Most people in Clinton appear to retirees. They won't search the internet to what type of food Fireman's Cafe is serving. read more

This place definitely needs some advertisement as they lost months of my business, because I didn't know it was here. I wanted BBQ, but was driving a company car and can't go out of my way, so I Yelped it, saw good reviews, right on my way home, I went. First, they might want to think about some lunch prices as JBAndrews is not too far and I know a lot of folks from there go all the way to Fort Washington for BBQ. I had the rib platter with potato salad and collards, delish, but so much. I saved it for dinner for me and my 9 year old twins. For lunch I had the shrab sandwich. It was good. Now, if you are looking for lump meat crab cake, look elsewhere. This appears to be almost a crab salad like consistency (but a little thicker) with bits of shrimp in it. Those bites of shrimp, give a heightened tasty surprise every time you hit one. I wish there were more! My fries were cold by the time I got home, so I won't review it. I will definitely return to try shrab rolls and shrab fries. My son and I adore lobster rolls, but I make my own and they can't be topped (and I'm not giving this place a chance to do it)! read more

The lady at the front was very nice and informative of the menu. She helped decide to try the Shrab Cake Platter (with yams & collards greens), which after tasting did not disappoint!!! First time here and I had high hopes of this place being good. The food was just mediocre. Got the pork chop platter with mac&cheese and cabbage also go a side of the potato salad. The cabbage was burnt or tasted burnt. The mac&cheese didn't have enough cheese. The pork chop was a little over fried. The crab fries were okay other than the fries being fried a little too hard. The potato salad was not to my liking as it had too many onions in it. Cheers at the Big Chair in SE sell the same fries and theirs were a bit better. Not sure if I will give this place another try. Being from the south and this being a soul food restaurant I was saddened that it wasn't really soul food. When I think of a soul food restaurant one would expect to walk in and smell food cooking ... there was no smell of that. What a gem! Everyone should know this cafe. I was looking for a place close to where and based upon reviews, I decided to try it. It was a bit hidden (behind Rita's custard shop). But once inside, I found an adorable little place with stools to sit and eat and wonderful momentoes honoring a fireman's life decorating the interior. The menu is so varied and offers so many interesting choices. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but settled on pulled turkey with coleslaw with a side of broccoli salad and braised cabbage. The food was lovingly prepared and presented. The turkey was moist and flavorful. The first time I have ever found pulled turkey. The coleslaw on top was great and the BBQ sauce that accompanied the dish was so flavorful. The sides were yummy too. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. I held back from having the cornbread, but next time I will have to try that along with so many other offerings. I highly recommend Fireman's Cafe. read more

Everyone was VERY pleased with the menu options and the pork BBQ sandwich was out of this world delicious! I also had a side of their homemade potato salad- another solid choice.
