Regardless of what they claim about dealing with rising costs, this sneaky 3% goes into the pockets of the owners as profit. Patrons are given the option to ask for this surcharge to be removed from their bill. They should do so and complain loudly about this practice. Several other high end DC restaurants have stopped running this scam after sufficient protest from patrons.
