It took a while but I finally decided to try a Firehouse Salad. I know... what took me so long? Well... yes it's a mainly a sub place, so when you're hungry and want a sub, Firehouse may come to mind. I went with the Firehouse Salad with Turkey and it didn't disappoint. It was a carryout order so when I got home and opened it up, I was surprised at how full and generous the bowl of salad was. There's no skimping on the ingredients. I ate half for lunch and saved the other half for dinner. Since I'm trying to eat a little healthier, I plan on trying the other salad choices as well. The price was comparable to other places serving large salads and since it was two meals for me, the price was worth it. Another thing I like about Firehouse is the fact that it's always clean and well kept inside. Cleanliness does matter to me and it's one of the first things I notice when I enter a food establishment. It's been awhile since ive eaten at this place. My favorite is the Italian. I got it again and it just didn't seem the same. The bread didn't seem as fresh and the sandwich wasn't very hot. I gave a specific time to pick up and I feel like they just made the sandwiches when the order came in. The store told me had to contact them thru the app as I paid on the app when I did that they said they have to send it to the store. When I asked to talk to someone on the phone I was told they don't have phone support. To get my refund I had to do a chargeback for the difference. And the company made no effort for my troubles that I had. To make it worse every other time I have visited this location I never had any issue but this time I missing the pickle from my order as well the steak and cheese sub had hardly any meet on it and overloaded so bad with peppers and onion it turned the bread to mush and could not be eaten. This was our go-to sandwich place. However, on our last visit,we observed changes. We arrived at prime lunch time and found the place completely empty of customers, as well as no waiting to-go orders. This is highly unusual and could be due to the fact that the floor and tables were filthy and the staff could be seen in the back goofing off and eating. The sandwiches were messy and just okay, as well as the chili. Not one of the three people on staff looked like they wanted to be there. They appeared annoyed by a customer invasion. Two other customers came and went in the hour we were there. When we left, the staff was again in the back room goofing off. Do they know customers can see and hear them? Pre warning to those that order online...if they forget items they refuse to refund you. Both in the store and through the official site. I realized I was missing an item when I got home. There no was no time to go back so I called and the guy on the phone said he would write my name down and give me the money when I came in the next few days. When I went to go do exactly what they told me, I was told by the cashier that they never do refunds ever. They refuse to. Even if you had missing items THAT YOU PAID FOR. The only thing they do is offer you a cookie, chips or soda. I told them that i was specifically told over the phone that I would get the refund but they continued to bicker with me until finally giving it to me. I refuse to return to one of these stores. Plus corporate is much worse. Instead of helping they told me originally just to contact my bank because they don't issue refunds. There is a reason so many firehouse subs have closed. Didn't really get a chance to try out this Firehouse Sub location because they didn't participate in a nationwide promotion by T-Mobile. I guess they don't want to get any new customers that would help their sales.The location is hard to see from a major intersection in Northern Macomb County, so any free advertising would be appreciated. Two other potential new customers were ahead of me in line, so based on their reaction, they won't be returning very soon. I do know that I won't return since it was a big waste of time! read more

My wife and myself frequent this place almost every weekend. Our favorite sandwich is the Italian it's not your normal Italian sub. I have eaten the same old same old Italian subs from other places it got a little boring after all these years. This isn't your traditional Italian that why I like it. But now they got me hooked on new sand which the pastrami rueben this is definitely different than any pastrami I've had pastrami with a tangy slaw and Swiss and very good mustard like topping. The pickle on the side is always crisp. I get the combo with a choice of chips and a choice from the Coke machine. I also have had the salads there they are also good. The dining area is always clean. The staff there is super friendly. I have the rewards app that had a lot of rewards to choose from. read more

In town visiting family and had heard so much about firehouse subs that I decided to give it a try. We purchased 5 subs, all steak, each one a little different for my family. Of the 5 subs only 2 were made correctly. I took the 3 subs back that were made incorrectly and an older woman was at the register this time. Instead of her apologizing for the mixup she explained how "plain" does not equal "plain". Plain equals meat and cheese.... even if we say "plain with ONLY lettuce and onion" etc. She took down the correct order and then stated again how you have to ask specifically for no cheese even if you say "plain with only.." I had to leave while they were remaking my sandwiches and had my mom to walk back inside to wait.... when she came out with the corrected order she told me how a lady told her how to order next time.... I don't know if it's because she was older but lady we got the picture... so for anyone who has never been here before let me say it to you so she doesn't have to tell you three times .... Plain does not mean "plain" here. The young lady who took our order was very sweet and professional... I know this was only a mixup and communication but I'd like to recognize her for her customer service! Poor customer service! They did not speak and when I approached the counter to apply my valid "T-Mobile " Promotion (free Hook & Ladder sandwich with a purchase) they declined it with absolute prejudice. I was told that they were no longer honoring it for the day (even though this was the last day). I was then given an address of another "Firehouse Subs" location 10 miles away, only to find out, did not exist upon my arrival. To make matters worse, after a 2 hour search of a location that would honor my promotion, I was informed that it expired once I activated at This location in Hall & Hayes. On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, I went in at 7:50 p.m. to order food for my family. The kid behind the counter asked if I was picking up an online order; I told him "no." He said "then we are closed." I asked what time do you close? He replied 8:00, but the kitchen closes 15 minutes early. This is unacceptable! If you close at 8:00, then I should be able to come in at 7:50 and place an order. I don't know what it did but I couldn't get my rewards to work. I ordered over and over trying to get their app to work. Again. Their app. When I get there Karen tells me that my order didn't get paid. I said I noticed that on the first one so I made another one. She said, "next time call us so we don't make your food" pardon me? What are you saying? It's my job to realize that your app is so stupid that it wouldn't let me pay for my order but it would send it to you? NO OTHER APP DOES THAT!!! We LOVE the firehouse chain. The steamer with extra mayo and onions is my favorite. The kids meatball is the perfect size for my kiddos. The bread is fresh, and you cant beat the quality of the meats. I came here with my daughter on a Friday evening and the ice machine was empty. I let them know it was broken (I was unaware it needed to be manually filled). The young man could not have been more rude. I said it wasnt a problem, and asked if he could fill my cup with the machine behind the counter and he replied "we have to fill it, it's a big job, you will have to wait". I had been craving a sub for a few days and was out and about near Lakeside, so I decided to finally try Firehouse Subs. The girls at the counter were out cleaning and seemed a bit confused about who was waiting on me, but after about 5 minutes they figured it out. That gave me a chance to check out the menu. I ordered a club sub, and the girl pointed at a side of a spinning display that had "standard" toppings on it and asked "Is this OK?" I was a bit confused by that, but figured it out in a minute. I wish she would have indicated the other side so I knew what else was optional. After that exchange, they make your sub behind the counter where you can't see it or ask for any adds/minuses. I guess I'm used to that at many other sub places. They do bring your sub out to you in a basket with a tasty dill pickle spear. The sub was OK. The bread was good, they melt the cheese in one of their dozen steamers. I didn't care for the ham -- it was much too sweet and threw off the whole sub's taste. I might try something else there, but it seems like a lot of their subs on a fairly small menu have that ham on them. They have round sandwiches, too, but none of those caught my eye. They do have a ton of hot sauces, but I'm not sure that I'd want to put a bunch of hot sauce on my sub when peppers do the same thing to some extent. read more

They will refuse to give you a free sub for birthday or for your own points you've used. They treat customers bad and they make your food very sloppy and thrown together. 2018-08-04. Firehouse Subs is a franchise soup, sub, and salad joint founded by former firefighters. With part of their proceeds going to support the funding of life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. In addition to their brick and mortar establishments, they also provide catering. Their MO is strip malls with plenty of free parking out front and back. Their establishments are well lit with high ceilings. Donated Fire Fighter equipment adorns a section of the wall, and paintings on others. There are a flat screens peppered here and there showcasing current sporting events. The table tops have dalmatian patterns, and their chairs are cushioned metal in fire engine red. Subs here are made to order, meats sliced hot and fresh. Because of this, it does take a few minutes to prepare it. We came in support of their H2O for Heroes campaign. Today only, for donating a case of 24 bottles of water, they will give you a free medium single meat sub. Water ranges anywhere from $2,5 to $5 depending on where you buy it, so it may be that you're not getting any discount at all, but it's for a good cause as the water goes to the first responders and they distribute it to those in need. The process is you order and pay, giving them your name. The drinks are self serve, and so is the seating. When your order is ready, they call out your name and you go and retrieve you order at the counter. Napkins are provided on every table. We arrived well after dinner hours and there was no crowd. They wanted the water by the cashier, so it was quite a bit of a hike hauling cases of water. I don't know how the turnout was during the day, but if they made everyone haul their water into the restaurant, it could be a failure of an event. If I was the organizer, here's how I'd do it: 1. Get a shiny red fire truck in the parking lot. 2. Have some volunteer (active and/or retired) firefighters on site to educate visitors on fire safety, proper use and disposal of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors/alarms. 3. Allow kids to check out the fire truck and snap some pics. 4. Use a ticket system in exchange for the case of water so customers can drive up, drop off the water, retrieve a ticket, park, and go inside without having to haul 29 lbs of liquid. 5. Collect used/old/expired fire extinguishers and smoke detector/alarms for proper disposal/recycling. While this will definitely increase the cost of running the event, I think it would more than make up for it with visibility and traffic. But enough of that, let's move onto the food before I run out of room. The subs run at 3, 6, 9 inches from small to large, and come in either white or wheat. Prices are $4.49, $6.49, $9.49; and proteins are 2, 4, 6 ounces respectively. Fully involved gets you lettuce, tomato, mayo, onions, deli mustard, and a dill pickle spear. Additional veggies like peppers, olives, and cucumbers come at no additional costs; however cheese, bacon, and sauteed mushrooms do (See pics). All our sandwiches were fully involved with no extras. Smoked Turkey Breast. There looked to be sufficient meat, but unfortunately it only covered one side, they could have spread it out better. Flavourwise the sub tasted like a sandwich I could make at home. It wasn't bad, but not notable either. 2,5 stars. Grilled Chicken. Cubed chicken, but not chicken salad. The cubed meat didn't hold up very well and was falling out left and right. There was a slight peppery taste but not enough to cause any spice (my little one ate it no problem). They should have left the chicken as a breast, or in strips at a minimum. 2 stars. Premium Roast Beef. Not sure what made this premium, it tasted like most roasts you get at any supermarket deli. Overcooked and ready to dry out if not eaten immediately. The meat was sliced super thin, which helped in making it much more tender, but it did nothing for flavour. 2,5 stars. Overall, Firehouse subs boasts Gourmet subs. This may have been true 20 years ago, but the landscape has changed. In direct competition with the likes of DiBella's, Potbelly's, and Jersey Mike's, Firehouse subs falls short. Their subs are 2,5 stars which just doesn't "cut it" in today's world. Is there room for improvement and innovation, absolutely; and so I'm rounding them down in hopes of motivating them to do better. 2 stars overall. First time here and probably my only time. It wasn't bad by any means, just not my preference when it comes to sub flavors and value, or lack of. The restaurant itself is huge, easily seat 75 people (yes I counted). Why in the world is it this big?! I can clearly tell you in the time I was in there, it was never THAT busy nor could I ever imagine being so. It was clean and welcoming so thumbs up for that. The menu is presented behind the counter, it's large and easy to read. You place your order and they ask if you want it "fully involved" which includes lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard, and a creamy Italian. I got a medium club with ham, turkey, bacon fully involved minus the mayo/mustard add pickles and pepperochini. I had a free birthday coupon from signing up for emails so I ordered another sub that way I could get a feel for the menu options. I also ordered a medium Italian sub fully involved minus mayo/mustard with added pickles and peppers too. I asked for heavy veggies on both subs and stressed the word HEAVY, as I always do when ordering any sub. I like getting my veggies in between processed meats and deli items makes me feel healthier. I added a combo to one meal for $2.50 extra, includes a bag of chips and pop. Not something I normally do but I had 4 littles with me who said they would die of thirst from the heat if they couldn't have sprint, don't need CPS coming after me. We took a seat and waited for our subs, and waited, used the bathroom- all 5 of us, sat again, filled our pop again, and waited again for our subs. Dude. Seriously. It took forever for 2 medium subs. There was 4 employees working behind the too. Don't be in a hurry if you come in here, it's not fast. The subs looked great, presented well served with a delicious dill pickle spear. But that first bite of the Italian was a bad slap in the mouth. It was made with honey ham and not a good one. It was sooo cloying that I didn't even take another bite- it was gross! It would have been one thing if it was real honey ham, but it's processed lunch meat, and a awful overbearing artificial honey flavored ham. Definitely did NOT belong on a Italian sub. I pushed it aside and tried the club sub, again same honey ham. It's just not good, on any of the subs, but that's just my opinion. I asked for paper to wrap the subs up to go, my appetite was killed. The dill spears were tasty tho, I'd eat a whole bowl of those is a single sitting for certain. And the heavy veggies?? Ha- not at all. It was so light in the veggie department that it made for a very small sub. They didn't add anything extra at all, and if they did, I'd hate to see what the standard amount is. Ok, I also got the stats on the subs, and when you think about it- it's really kind of a poor value. Small subs: 3.5 inches for 2oz meat, starting at $3.99 Med subs: 8in for 4oz meat, starting at $5.99 Large subs:12in for 8oz, starting at $8.99 The subs come hot or cold, but the employee didn't ask me and I automatically got hot. Not my preference, nor should they have just assumed. But I had waited so damn long that I didn't wanna have them remake it because I didn't have an extra 25 minutes to wait. Maybe I would like their subs better if they offered a regular ham instead of only carrying the honey ham, but even for the lack of value or sustenance I doubt I would return.
