I've now had two disappointing visits to this Firehouse Subs location in Rocky River, and both were with the same crew--two young men who seem completely disengaged from the customer experience. No greeting, no "Welcome to Firehouse," no smile, no acknowledgment--just silence and disinterest. It honestly felt like I was inconveniencing them by showing up. During my most recent visit, the ice machine was broken. One of the employees stood nearby texting on his phone. Hopefully, he was reporting the issue--but I doubt it. There was no heads-up, no courtesy mention at the register that there'd be no ice for beverages like "iced" tea, soda, or lemonade. You just found out after you ordered. On a previous visit, there was no tea available at all. Yes, my sandwich was fine. It had all the ingredients (though I didn't get the pickle I was offered). But that should be the bare minimum, not the high point. We should expect more--especially from a brand like Firehouse that prides itself on service and community. I genuinely tried to share this feedback privately through the Firehouse Subs website, but their customer service portal locked up. That's frustrating--and why I'm posting here instead. I'd have preferred to keep this between me and the company, but they didn't make that possible. To be clear: I'm not trying to shame these young workers. I hope someone trains and mentors them. But being on your phone during a shift, ignoring customers, and offering zero hospitality is not how you build a strong team or a loyal customer base. Rocky River deserves better. We just had 2 large NY steamer subs. They tasted ok. It was more like a bread sandwich than a sub. The meat was very skimpy, especially for a large and at a cost of &15.00. A similar sub at Penn Station would have significantly more meat and fillings. I would not go back. I have to also note that I've had these subs before a few years ago in Florida and they had much more meat and seemed like a better value. Definitely not good value for the price. Yes!!! I am so happy this is open!! My husband and I love Firehouse, so when I was driving by and saw the sign saying there was a Firehouse in RR, I nearly lost it! After moving from Columbus to west CLE two years ago, one big thing we were still missing was Firehouse Subs. And now, we have it! Everyone here is so nice and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the restaurant clean. My husband loves the spicy meatball sub, and I'm more of a Hook and Ladder fan. I'm not sure what it is, but their ham here is freaking delicious! It's perfectly sweet and juicy. Truthfully, all of their meat is really good, and I love their warm and toasty bread. Just noticed this place the other day and since it is close to my house my guest and I decided to walk to it with the thought being that we might burn off some of the delicious calorie load we were about to take in. Neither of us had heard of Firehouse Subs before so we were curious, but no disappointments here! The food: Firehouse Steak & Cheese $6.99 (steak, cheese, peppers and onions) Engineer $6.69 (Turkey, swiss, grilled mushrooms) We both went with medium hot subs under $7 and decided to forgo any sides or desserts (although the cookies look really good). I want to say the mediums are 8 inches long which is a pretty good sized sub. We both really enjoyed our subs a lot! Very tasty and filling. The theme is firehouse stuff if that wasn't obvious. One weird bit of decor though was huge painting with a kangaroo off to the side. Apparently the owner is from Australia. Only negatives would be that everyone greets you loudly at once when you walk in. Comes across a bit forced and not so genuine as one simple direct smile and hello would. Also I think the subs take a little longer than other seasoned subs shops, but this could be because the place is new and still training/working out the kinks. Lastly it's a sub shop so not a ton of variety, but will satisfy you if you're in the mood for deli meat on a big bun. All in all I would definitely come here again! The Firehouse Subs chain is by far my favorite sub shop. They give back to local fire fighters, sell 5 gallon buckets that were used for pickling super cheap, and consistently have the best subs around. They have large selection of subs in sizes ranging from standard to enormous and you can modify the toppings as you wish. There is something for everyone here. The only negative, if you can call it that is that, is that it takes a few minutes to have you sub cooked. This location in particular has super friendly staff that go above and beyond making you feel welcome, and is right beside the grocery store which is a huge a plus for me! read more

This would be a score of zero if I could give that score, the food is a five but the boys that work here are absolutely awful at this job. I ask for wheat bread and I get plain and then I told them I wanted a pickle with my sub and my girlfriend's sub with an extra pickle as well and only got 1 pickle total. I have never had an issue with the service until these childish boys that didn't even know how to use the register took my order. Every other time I have been serviced there have been nice ladies that take the time and care about everyone's order and pays attention to what the customer ordered and deserves a raise. If any boys make my sub I will be checking my order every time because the quality of service they provided is uncalled for and however they were trained I would keep a closer eye on what is actually ordered. I was questioned and humiliated by a senior team member when my order was stolen from the Online Orders shelf this evening; this is after I showed another team member the emailed receipt. Instead of simply remaking the order, the senior team member decided to question me further and make excuses. He asked if I had someone else pick it up (obviously I didn't). Then he said they don't card people when they pick up online orders from the shelf, and that it had never happened before (which I find rather hard to believe as online orders being stolen from pick-up shelves is a common issue). Regardless, neither of those things needed to be pointed out. He was flippant, dismissive, and unkind. He made me stand there defending my purchase until I began to think he had no intention of fulfilling the order. I questioningly said, "So are you not going to fulfill the order; that would be very poor customer service." He snapped back, "you said that, I didn't say that." I responded that it didn't seem like he was going to fulfill the order the way he was questioning me and making excuses. Some customers walked in, so I guess he decided to do the thing he should've done immediately. He said in an unkind tone (like he was doing me some sort of favor), "I will remake the order." I simply said, "thank you" and had to wait another 20 minutes for the order. It was a horrendous experience. I was shocked because I've ordered from there many times without an issue and generally friendly staff; this guy (who I think is likely a manager) treated me in a disgraceful manner. read more

We love their subs! At other sub shops, I tend to stick to the same menu items because there are subs I dislike. At Firehouse, I always order something different because (other than a meatball sub clearly marked "hot and spicy") I have not had any sandwich that wasn't delicious. I use online ordering, and the subs have always been ready at the time I requested. Don't get me wrong....I thought my sandwich was really tasty; there just wasn't very much of it. Since this was my first visit, we kept our order pretty basic save for a total burn. The price was the real indignity for the puny portion. For two people to get descent size sandwiches and not walk away hungry will set you back nearly 20 large for a combo that includes a drink and a bag of CHIPS! I could have gotten TWO pizzas from Pizza Hut for that price AND had leftovers. They suggest you "round your change up" for a noble cause benefiting firemen. Considering the egregious pricing and lack of economy for the buck, that seemed awfully presumptuous. So there were two losers on this visit. Again, my order was quite delicious, but I remember a chain called Quiznos that suffered the same fate of tiny portions for unrealistic pricing. I know that I would enjoy this place if I just wanted a taste treat and wasn't very hungry or just had cash burning a hole in my pocket. Tonight was the first of many more visits! Everybody said welcome when we walked in... (it's nice to be acknowledged... reminiscent of Waffle House). I built my own sub with corned beef and all the regular fixings (except mustard). Served warm, I was impressed that the bread wasn't too crunchy that it hurt to eat it. My husband enjoyed his Italian sub with the same bread comment as mine. We chose brownies for dessert... delicious! We dined there, appreciating the decor, which was different and interesting... Walked away and realized manager had not given me a cup with the combo i ordered. I go back and wait in line and explain that i just ordered and had a combo but was not given a drink. I had a terrible experience at the Rocky River location yesterday, which will prevent me from returning. I placed an order using their app, and when I arrived at the store, the clerk told me that the payment hadn't gone through. When I placed the order, though, I received a response from the app saying that it was paid for. I also received an e-mail indicating I had paid. The clerk was insistent, so I reluctantly paid a second time. Firehouse sent me a survey asking if I was satisfied, and, for obvious reasons after the terrible customer service and the uncertainty as to whether or not I had paid twice, I let them know that I was not satisfied. I then received an e-mail from the store's manager informing me that "My crew member did handle this correctly as she has no control over the process." Look I get that computers don't always work perfectly. However, if a shop's system fails, I expect the store to shoulder the burden of that failure, not the customer. read more
