Very slow in preparing the food and staff is disinterested. They don't want to be there.

I had no idea this place was so bad! I placed an order for 5 12" subs to serve a group. The order form has no where for special instructions, like how many pieces to cut each one into. I went to support online, which was a chat that only had multiple choice answers, no where to type in anything. Then it said my problem was resolved even though I never got to explain why I was contacting them. I called the store, it was before they opened, but I knew they must be there prepping for open. No answer, and no answering machine. After a couple times, I waited until opening time and started calling again. Still no answer several times. I went down there to give the instructions before they made them all up. While I was waiting in line, I called again and watched them all ignore the phone. One man walked right past it, not in a hurry or anything. I wish I'd gone to Jimmy Johns. read more

I'd recommend ordering ahead because it takes from 10-15 before you get your sandwich. The prices are extremely high. We ordered a large French dip sandwich with extra meat and with a large drink end up being $23.00. Then when we opened the container the bread is burnt and the au jus was just warm. Paid for extra meat we didn't get. I'm tired of working hard and getting awful food and subpar service. Drink machine is usually out of many drink options and the sugar free items taste horrible. Went to the shop at Parham and Rt1. I am not a big sandwich fan and usually go to a Subway when I do. Since I was driving by, I thought I'd try this franchise. I was amazed by how busy they were even though it was a Saturday around noon. I thought, oh boy, this must be really good place to get a sub!!!! Wrong. It was just ok but VERY slow. I was able yo go to the bathroom and still waited another 20 minutes to get my food, Not sure why it took so long. They had only two employees working there at that time and really needed a be manager to assist during a busy Saturday. Two would be ok but they not only served walk in customers but they had a lot of to go orders at the same time. By the way, the bathroom was not the cleanest I've ever used but no employee was available to it up. Unlike Subway, the serving counter is high and couldn't tell you why it was taking so long. I had the roast beef and wish I tried something different. The roast beef was thickly cut and chewy. It had the extruded beef texture and flavor and not whole muscle beef. Yuck. The sandwich is put in a box and not wrapped. So eating the sandwich while driving was impossible. My sandwich cost about what Subway cost so not sure what the attraction is to this franchise. In fact, it seems it is just a glorified Subway but rips off the public by shamelessly using the benefiting of Firefighters to make a profit. read more

It took forty minutes for us to get three subs on a Saturday evening, even though the shop had only a few customers. We needed a quick stop as we had a two-hour drive ahead of us, and had passed up a very busy Chik-fil-a thinking this would be faster. The 4-5 employees behind the counter were much more attentive to each other than to the customers and were certainly not working with any sense of urgency or hustle. They were so busy chatting with each other that the efficiency of their work suffered greatly. Forty minutes for three subs is ridiculous! The only reason I didn't give one star is that the food tasted decent -- my daughter actually really liked the tuna salad. But a very disappointing visit. We have often eaten at Firehouse Subs in Short Pump and in Virginia Beach, but we will never again come to this one. read more

I paid for olives and hot peppers and got about 5-6 slices of olives, no peppers. No Cheese, or sautéed peppers and mushrooms were on my sandwich although the cashier confirmed they were included on the "veggie" sub. Not only that, it took over 20 min to make! Stopped in for dinner tonight, was in one of those moods wanting something different and new. I hadnt been to FS before.. So.. I went in to see what they offer. The menu is pretty much your normal hot subs, i chose the turkey bacon ranch sub on wheat... combos are about $8.50 for sandwich, chips, drink and a pickle. That is for the 8", for the 12" its like $11 for the combo. The guy behind the counter asked if this was my first time there, and when I said yes, he gave me the rundown on the place, his recommendation was the hook and ladder sandwich, which was turkey, ham, bacon and melted montery jack cheese. Sounded good but I tried the other one and went with my instincts... Good choice! The dining area is really cute, its designed literally like a fire station, there are real firemans gear hanging on hooks in the wall, and other firehouse paraphanelia. The drink machine is really cool and modern, you choose what you want on a touch screen and it dispenses it. I mixed 2 types and made some delicious concoction of lemonade and cherry limeade... This mix was really good.. Try it! I would recommend their sandwiches, but they were a bit pricey to me... However, the sandwich was made perfectly and tasted really delicious. read more

Love the franchise. This one hit the mark. Brought out the food to us and the kids loved the soda machine with its ability to dispense 120 different flavored. I love clubs so had the FireHouse club. Very good and savory. Bacon could have been stronger, but plenty there. My wife nodded when I asked about the Italian. I guess that is glowing reviews from my spouse of 20 years. ROACH!!!!!!!!! I have to give one star in order to provide this review. This evening my husband and I decided on Firehouse based on our community errands. We were second guessing this decision based on prior visits to this location and I really wish we would have gone with that gut instinct. We arrived and were greeted by a not so cheerful employee who told us someone would take our order shortly. A woman comes from the back and takes our order however she never smiles or really gives me eye contact. Our sandwich's are delivered to our table and we are both thinking blahhh. Hard bread, chili was not good and little to no meat on our sandwiches. Our daughter arrived and ordered even after we recommended that she did not. While sitting at the table realizing that we wasted our money a ROACH crawled down the wall onto the table. I jumped up and went to the register to get a refund for my daughters order which had not arrived to the table so that we could leave. My husband went to the register and asked for a refund for the initial order. They obliged however what concerned me even more was that they did not seem surprised or even slightly concerned like this was a HUGE problem. This by far is one of the dirtiest and least professional locations that we have ever visited. It has gone downhill over the years when we have visited. I wanted to take pictures however I was so disgusted we literally ran out after we got our money back. We also want to note that there were no napkins on the tables and the manager walked into the restaurant with her outside clothing on, through the entire kitchen area and to the back with multiple bags. This was the worst experience we have had. We put in our order and I ordered a sandwich with no onions and my friend ordered a plain steak and cheese. We waited 30 minutes just to get out subs which is already ridiculous and then on top of that we get home and find that BOTH of our subs were made wrong. Mine had onions and my friends also had green peppers and onions. The receipt even had the correct information the workers just didn't even bother to read it. We let the young cashier know, and like any good high school student he was on a mission to kill/capture it. At that point I should have been deterred, but no. Rude staff, soggy tasteless sandwich. Ordered online. It was my first time and when I walked in there where two Giant signs. One said order, and the other pickup. So I walked up to pickup, to pickup my order. They all looked at me funny then looked away. It was strange that I a customer was being purposely ignored. They would look up and as soon as I would try and make eye contact they would quickly look down. So I double checked and sure enough I was under the pickup sign. Finally the guy right in front of me and asked if I was waiting for something. Umm yeah. Some customer service buddy. Turns out, even though I ordered online my food wasn't ready and I had to wait for it to be made. I like to look on the bright side of things and focused on how fresh my sandwich would be. Nope. To top it all of by the time I got home (about 4 mins) the sub was barely above the level of a McDonald's cheeseburger. The meat was rubbery and tasted like warm water. The bread was hard, and to top it all off they didn't put any bbq sauce on the thing. Umm, you brag about how many amazing sauces you have, what do I have to do to try one? We walked into an empty restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. The place was filthy! We had to ask someone to wipe down a table so we could eat. My order was incorrect. The employees were goofing off and being loud enjoying themselves behind the counter rather than picking up a broom. One of the employees dropped a customer's order in the floor and they all thought that was hilarious. The restrooms were out of toilet paper and soap. Also I've seen cleaner restrooms at truck stops. I've been to this Firehouse 4 or 5 times in the past few months and it is really great. It's not busy at all, and I think it's because there are so many huge chain restaurants at White Oak, but this place is a little treasure. The guys that work there aren't overly friendly, but they aren't rude or nasty either. They just get the job done. The subs are really good too. I think they use a toaster oven and a steamer. You order, have a seat, and they take care of the rest. I really like the fact that they donate to local firefighters in the communities where their restaurants are. At first, I thought Firehouse Subs stood for hot, spicy, food and was reluctant to give it a try. How silly I felt when I went in there and figured out it's named that because it was started by former firefighters! Oh, and they even give the little plastic firemen's hats to the kids. read more

This restaurant is filthy and so slow. Went in for lunch, there were multiple people waiting in line and even more who had already ordered waiting for their food. There was only one person making the sandwiches. We waited in line for a while, during which time two young children - without shoes - ran back and forth from the kitchen to the dining room. They obviously belonged to someone who worked there. One was wearing a much oversized firehouse tee shirt (as if his parent needed to change him out of his original clothing). I completely understand that sometimes bringing your kids to work is unavoidable, and I am sympathetic to that. But their feet were so dirty, and they were running back and forth, touching the chips and so forth. We kept waiting despite that, but the line wasn't moving and no food was coming out. Realized it would take forever to get lunch. I love Firehouse sandwiches and I was so disappointed in the cleanliness and service, we left before ordering. I would not go back.
