From the perfectly melted cheese, hot but not scalding meatballs to the crispy crispy bread edges the only thing that needs work is that there's no "top" so holding this to eat it is quite messy. Halfway through I switched to fork and knife. 9/10 Steak and cheese melt: not bad. Sort of has an identity crisis - is it trying to be a Philly cheeseteak or not? 7/10 Service is pretty fast and they show good manners with their please and thank yous. Order: Medium Italian (light mustard), medium sweet & spicy meatball Wait time: About an hour -- clearly communicated, so not holding that against them Bag showed up pretty grease-stained, some leakage inside too. Both sandwiches were in cardboard boxes -- meatball had some sauce on the container, but nothing crazy. Italian: Tasty, good amount of meat. Cut in half -- one side held up fine, the other got pretty soggy and fell apart. I also made the mistake of eating it inside-out at first (finished the bread, left with just meat), which didn't work here at all. Once I switched to eating it normally, the second half was much better and held together. Sweet & Spicy Meatball: Usually my go-to and honestly one of my favorite subs anywhere when I dine in. This time they gave me the regular meatball instead. Not a huge deal, but still a miss. The spicy version usually has that extra kick (pretty sure from their datil pepper sauce), and that was missing. Still decent overall -- came fairly warm, didn't need to reheat, just a bit on the dry side compared to what I expect. I would actually leave NO STARS if it were an option. On Veteran's Day we went to take advantage of the free combo meal for vets. We ate there last year and were pleased with our orders. I ordered a smoked brisket on gluten free bun. I specified no bbq sauce and no mayo. The people who'd placed their orders right before us, got their orders, ate and left. Still we waited. Mind you, the place wasn't all that crowded. About 30 minutes into our wait, my husband went to the counter and asked about our order. He was told "You're next." It was still another 20 minutes, following two or three other orders. Apparently "next" meant something else to them. My husband's sandwich was fine, but mine was slathered with BBQ sauce. They mumbled an offer to make it right but after waiting nearly an hour, I didn't want to wait longer. However the sauce ruined it for me. When we got home I immediately filled out the survey, which, after a week, no one replied to. So I filled out another survey this week. After four days no reply. Ordered two Firehouse Salads w/ham. Some of the lettuce was old and wilted. Service was slow, actually sat and watched a man walk out due to not wanting to wait to place an order. Only reason I have returned to this particular location is due to the fact that I have gift cards that was given to us by our family members at Christmas time. Service was slower than most Firehouse Subs restaurants I have been to. I wish I would've taken a photo of the amount of meat on this sandwich. It was comical how little there was. I ordered the Smokehouse Sub, which I have had many times from other Firehouse Subs locations, and other locations have always pack it with meat, that was not the case for this location. Watch out! Adding a veggie condiment to your sandwich is EXTRA! Want a Jalepeno, or olives or other toppings cost $.15 a piece! There is now warning about this. At the check out there is a rotating display with photo's of all the ADD ON'S available you may request. THERE IS NO PRICE LISTED ON IT. BUT THEY ARE $.15 a piece! Most fast foods like McDonalds, Burger King, Culvers, Subway, or Wendy's don't jack the price up for condiments. The food is good. Their food and salads are very good. It had a generous amount of meat, and fresh toppings, on warm and fresh bread (choose either white or wheat). An ample number of sauces were available with heat levels marked 1-10. We went last night and the New York Steamer picture and the actual sandwich was no comparison. The sandwich my husband got literally had more meat on 1/2 the medium sandwich than the of the 1/2. I love the food. It's normally always good. The staff though. Terrible. There's one girl in there that's great. I always love seeing her different hair styles. But everyone else needs to learn customer service. We go all the time. Order online. Last few times. Bad.. just bad. I got there two days ago 20 min before they closed. I paid almost $10 for a sandwich that had one thin slice of ham and one thin slice of turkey along with lettuce and mustard! Not sure what happened to the other toppings but someone apparently decided to take a short cut and thought it would not be noticed. Sloppy and rude! We stopped for a brief break on a long road trip. Lots of choices nearby but I'm glad we chose Firehouse. It was brand new to us and it's great. The sandwiches were really good and reasonable prices. Most of all, the staff was so nice and personable. Some nice small talk as they were working on our order and online ones too. The store and restrooms were clean and bright. I have liked Firehouse Subs for a long time now. I have gone to well established Firehouse Subs numerous times and they are consistently good. I have now been to this location twice and both times the subs were consistently fresh, well made with plenty of meat. I always get the Steamer which is corn beef & pastrami (try it with a little A-1 sauce...trust me). This is just about the only place that I order the sandwich as is with out changing anything. Does the application to work at Firehouse also include a disclaimer that you may be called a bitch by who I assume is your manager? The two stars is for the food that was good. Everything else was a nightmare. There was a girl at the register as we were walking in who decided to walk away to help on the line. No one acknowledged us although since I left my invisible cloak at home we were in plain view. Eventually, several minutes later, the only guy working tonight stepped up to the register to take our order. As soon as my sister mentions she wants turkey the chick in the blond wig under her purple bandanna promptly rolls her eyes, not trying to hide it as I am looking straight at her. WTF? Apparently she is triggered by turkey. When we receive our order my sandwich is wrong. Its taken back and a slight argument breaks out between the young girl and blond wig which results in blond wig calling young girl a bitch. Being verbally abused at work by your manager in a bad wig makes for anxious times and they messed up the sandwich again. By the time I received what I ordered and ate, young girl and bad wig had made up. I heard blond wig telling her she had to be stern, but calling her a bitch is beyond being stern in a place of business, or anywhere. When the Lee's Summit location opens, I think I will drive out there and save myself from witnessing unnecessary work place drama and hope they don't roll their eyes when I order my food. read more

I have been here a couple times and really enjoy the food. I used to be a Subway regular and have to say this place has their sandwiches beat hands down. The bread they use is so much better than I've had at any sandwich shop before. My sandwich has been consistently fresh, hot if toasted and tasty each time and they have a large menu variety to choose from. I usually end up getting the meatball sub. It's AMAZING! The service is a bit slow on some visits but this business is fairly new so I'm sure there's some kinks to work out with training but don't let it deter you the sandwiches are worth waiting a couple extra minutes. read more

Had a terrible experience at this location. Walked up to the order counter and began to order when an employee stopped us because she was ordering food for herself because she was on break. Had to wait for another employee to come out who was extremely rude. None of the employees working at the time looked professional or were friendly.
