I have a problem with the system when you order on the app. There's nowhere to pick up the order and usually I have to get the person who's making sandwiches attention to ask if the order is done. Extremely impressed... This Italian sub double meat from @Firehousesubs measured in at 8" long 3" wide and over 4" tall! With Chips and a drink it was about $10 more than @Subway however it was more food than I had at subway ordering 3 6" subs of theirs. They have a quality control process 2nd to none, they seal the back and the person who double checks orders signs off like a chain of custody bag for evidence. It was founded by Firemen and the portions designed to feed a Fire Crew after a long crazy shift. A portion of every order goes to help First Responders. I ordered a Turkey Bacon Ranch and it was delicious. The service was amazing, they were kind and speedy, will definitely be returning!

The food is great, but it took me a half an hour to get my food and then it cost $22 to have a small sandwich and a salad plus a drink that's just too expensive. This past visit will be our last to this location, as we've had nothing but negative experiences. We placed an online to go order for the day after Thanksgiving. First, I added jalapeños to my sandwich for 50 cents extra, which I realized were not included once I got home to eat. Also not included was the cookie side to the $7 kids meal we ordered -- just a tiny little 2 ingredient sandwich and small soda with no ice because they were out of that too. Second, the employees were standing around (not working very hard or speedily, btw) talking about how they came in that morning hungover. Now, no judgment from me on that as it was the day after a holiday -- you do you! But if you're at your job, and already not doing very good work, probably not the thing you should be broadcasting for all customers to hear. Lastly, I have been to this location to pick up an online order like this a handful of times before and it has literally never been ready on time -- always at least 10 minutes after the pickup time given. This time was no exception. And each time the employees are mulling around as though they have very little to do the entire time I'm standing there. It's baffling. Came for Doordash food delivery, waiting time for order was over 20 minutes and they gave me a glass of water. I got myself some water and went to wait in the car. The manager of the establishment, a woman, ran out into the street after me and started shouting and waving her arms that I had to pay for water. It seemed to me that she extorted money from me and I was very scared and left, after which the woman manager called and complained to the door and this order was canceled for her. Food is great as is at most Firehouse Sub locations. This location is SLOOOOW. If no one is waiting, it can still take over 10 minutes. The three or four behind the counter have no sense of urgency and usually just one is actually making the sandwiches. I know they take more care than other franchises, but it does not take 10 min to make a sandwich. From order to take out was 45 min. A sit-down restaurant would be faster next time .... read more

Requested everything on the sub, and was given a sub with a blatant lack of effort, incredibly plain and dry, hardly sauced, and didnt't have a single shred of lettuce , much less the other standard toppings on a sandwich. Essentially bread and meat. This was predictable as the staff rolled their eyes in anticipation of an order. Incredibly disappointing, and I'll be unable to visit this location again. I used to love this place. Now they have immature staff who leave the place dirty, don't try to fulfill your order correctly, leave the restaurant to hang out with friends in their cars. We even went late one night when two boys were working and they both left the bathroom smelling like smoke. No one was even behind the counter. When we left the restaurant, we watched through the window and they went back to the bathroom. Every time we order online with specific specifications, our order is always wrong. I tried this place on a whim.. I was tired of the same sandwiches at Subway so I gave it a try. These subs are awesome! I am sure you can't find a bad sandwich on their menu. I have only gotten the Cajun chicken sandwich, but it's so amazing I never want anything else! So many choices and they are always fresh! I agree with Laurel C, I even ordered the exact same thing, and it was very good- savory and hit a lot of flavor notes. That mix of condiments sounds a bit odd but it actually works quite well. I'll be back and next time I will probably try the turkey club. Cuz bacon. I also noticed that the employees were friendly and helpful, but to that I will add: The store is not just clean, it's spotless. Prices are competitive considering the quality. The menu is just right- not too big, not too small. Plenty of options and all the main bases covered. You can round up your bill to donate to firefighters and EMTs. Best in Lawrence? Maybe. Yello Sub still ranks high, though Firehouse is cleaner, nicer and faster. If Firehouse delivered, then I think that would take them over the top. I still haven't tried Pickleman's. Panera is too bland. Wheatfields is overpriced for what you get and that baguette was hay to hard, Goodcents is underwhelming, and Subway is just lame. So let's just call Firehouse Subs the most under-rated sandwich shop in town. You really need to check this place out. read more

this spot allows a nice contact free food pickup- however when ordering at the store there were six employees. i ordered a small sandwich and a medium sandwich and it took 6 people to make them in 30 minutes which i find wasn't necessary. generally my experience was okay besides the extremely long wait. read more

I think Firehouse is the best sandwich place in Lawrence. The New York Steamer on wheat is delicious. I like how their sandwiches are warm but the bread is not toasted, crunchy, or tough. They have a Coke Freestyle machine so there are lots of drink choices. The employees are always extremely friendly and they are fast. read more
