The entire crew must have had a bad day . Absolutely no type of customer service or emotion in any of their eyes. I asked the cashier and the her associate if she could make a vegetarian sandwich for my wife ( not a salad bowl ) . Well..it is a firehouse. The food was good. The location was in a pretty rough area of town. The restaurant looked like it didn't care much about maintaining its appearances. There were huge restaurant supply boxes everywhere. Only some the tables were available for sitting, other has the chairs up. Overall just felt sticky and dirty in the dining area. Decent service. I was surprised how many people were there when they opened the doors. We had been flying all night and were looking for nourishment upon our arrival to Jacksonville. Would I come back- no. Was it terrible- no. Firehouse just really isn't my jam. We came in because my work colleague likes them but it'll likely be another decade before I enter the establishment again. read more

Walking in I half expected to walk into Muscles Glasses - there was so much SAUUCE to choose from on the counter. Despite the absence of Epic Meal Time, Firehouse subs made a mean, sauced up sandwich, southern style (can I get some MAYO with that mayo?) Basically, I was looking for a long shot. I wanted what I can only describe as "hand food" so I could get it, eat it, and be done with it - all while barreling up the I-NineFive on cruise control, continuing to make excellent time. You've got your Subways...NO. I get veggie happy -- I stack the greens, I double the tomatoes...my creations are two handed, at a minimum. Quiznos...we're getting warmer, but again, some of their subs are longer than my car so trying not to spill that on me or my seat would be near impossible. Firehouse? Yup. Truth be told, I got off the highway because I needed gas and I saw a Starbucks icon on my GPS. I figured I could hit two things with one stop, and there was a remote possibility that I would find food and achieve the road trip trifecta - name brand gas, Starbucks, and lunch all in the same plaza. Jackpot - Firehouse created a delicious (medium sized) firehouse themed Hook and Ladder sub for me to eat on the go. It was FULLY INVOLVED with meat, cheese, veggies, and sauces - all in very manageable, road-friendly quantities. I one-handed that sub like a pro and it was one of the best I've had. Beyond the food, they get a donation out of (I would assume at least 70%) some of their customers to support their public safety foundation. Good food, good cause. Horrible service tonight, I usually show up early for my online orders so I was on time. I walked in nobody greeted me anything; the online order rack was empty so I went up to the cashier, she didn't even bother to look for it or tell anyone. Once I noticed that guests who ordered while I was there was receiving food that I asked the young lady making subs if mine was ready. While taking covid into consideration I don't feel as if my issue with today's service had anything to do with the pandemic. It was simply a bad, unfair treatment. I will say the entire crew of only three (that's all I seen) were working their butts off. Here's what happened today 9-21-20 ..... I called in a pickup order at exactly 6:59 pm. Michael took my order and was very friendly and efficient. He told me to give them 10 minutes to have it ready, I said take 15 as I was walking into a quick stop down the road from this Firehouse location. I arrive at 6:13 and see 11 people in line, including the lady I followed in the door. I ask her if she to had called in for pickup and she had, so I walked up the line and asked the others if they were waiting to pickup or order as I was being careful not to skip in line. All of those 10 were waiting to place their order so I went to the cashier (Michael) and stated that myself and the lady ahead of me had called in pickup orders while simultaneously noticing several orders ready for pickup behind the counter. This is when Michael tells me that I have to wait in the line of 10 ahead of me to pickup my order even though I could see it was ready and I had called ahead for "pickup" and arrived later than the 10 minutes I was told it would take...I still had to wait while my food was getting cold so he could take their orders and serve them hot food. So it was 7:26 when I got in my truck to leave with my lukewarm food. I feel that I should have been told on the phone that calling in a pickup only means that if they get busy before I arrive to pickup my hot food that I will have to wait while my food gets cold so I may as well come in and order there. Lukewarm food is the reason I don't use food delivery.....I like my food at least good and warm. Michael also mentioned they were short staffed while I was paying, but the girls preparing the subs were firing on all cylinders and getting subs ready quickly, what a shame Michael didn't have the same concern for the call in orders food and service quality as he did the ones ordering in the store. read more

I ordered CATERING BOX LUNCHES for 20 people Monday August 5, 2020 at the DUNN AVENUE store in person; the EVENT was scheduled for Tuesday August 6, 2019. I walked into the store and asked the young man behind the counter that I needed to speak to a MANAGER about placing a CATERING ORDER he said something to the effect he's "there", I had NO IDEA where "there" was. I know I looked confused and lost because I "was", at that point. Another young man came up to the counter and asked if he could "help me", I explained what I "needed" and found out he was the ASSISTANT MANAGER. At that point it was LUNCH time so the line was starting to form and I was standing behind the lunch crowd. I asked the ASSISTANT MANAGER if it was possible for him to leave the "counter" and I could do the CATERING ORDER at a table and get out of the flow of traffic interfering with CUSTOMERS ORDERS if it didn't interfere with his JOB. He came over to a table I located, he didn't have a ORDER FORM got up and went behind counter and FINALLY located form, but NO PEN/PENCIL, up to counter again, return to table. I told him what I wanted for my CATERING ORDER, it would be the BOX LUNCHES(a turkey sandwich, lettuce, tomatoes, sliced onions in a separate container instead of on the sandwiches, potato chips, cookie, mayonnaise, mustard, salt/pepper, silverware packet). I asked one of the committee members to go and PICK-UP ORDER, I called her on her cell to ask " did you check the BOX LUNCHES to make sure they were complete. Co-committee member says she didn't have time to check at business, but we could check when she returns. The first guest arrives and he picks-up his BOX LUNCH and it was MISSING "POTATO CHIPS, LETTUCE etc., COOKIE, so that's ALL the first guest received. I was so UPSET, now I've got to locate someone to return to FIREHOUSE SUBS on DUNN AVENUE, other guests are starting to arrive and the BOX LUNCHES are INCOMPLETE. After about 45 minutes the MISSING ITEMS for BOX LUNCHES arrive and someone starts to put items in BOXES. You wouldn't think that I went to FIREHOUSE SUBS and REVIEWED/REPEATED what was to be in BOX LUNCHES several times before I left. MY community was observing "NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" for POLICEMEN, to HONOR and show APPRECIATION for ALL they do. I was so very STRESSED after the POLICEMEN left Event, but at least they expressed they had a GREAT TIME. I choose having the EVENT CATERED so everything could be done by someone else and should have been PERFECT. NO ONE has CATERING just so they can be STRESSED. read more

I was in here about a week ago using the bathroom and getting lunch with my daughter. It's a very dirty location. There was mold or some type of black gunk on the soda machine spout and around the bottom of the ice tray catch part. Hopefully it's been cleaned. The floors were a reck. Food and trash pieces everywhere. We ended up using the dirty bathroom and leaving. Me eating there fine but subjecting my 3 year old to God only knows what that's not fair. Ate here today, and it was a great experience! My sub came out toasted to perfection, all the tables were super clean, and the staff was really friendly. The manager was greeting everyone coming and going with a big smile, and all the employees smiled at the customers and made sure to asked every table if they needed anything additional while they were eating. Now I have eaten from Firehouse Sub's since they opened their first store on San Jose Blvd. They were really good then. Now this one down the road from us I pretty much had enough of. This one is just not right and I have just found better sub shops. A little drive but just better food. Firehouse has turned into a small step above Subway and they seem to be happy with that. Maybe I'm a fool but I would want to but out the best product that I could. This sandwich was like eating a hunk of this meat then some of that meat with lettuce all over it. I'm used to the toasted bun and the steamer but when they pull the meat out of the steamer and have to pour juices out of the bag that's not good. I've only been here twice but I'm hooked on the same sub. The smokehouse brisket is delicious. I got it on wheat and it came w cheddar brisket and sauce. What would make this sub the bomb would b crispy onions. The only bummer is I didn't see veggies at all to add on. Maybe it's bc I'm a newbie. Either way still a legit sandwich. Me and two of my coworkers that often visit firehouse came in today to get combos. The cashier was very rude and tried to get through with us very quickly. We had already purchased and paid for our stuff online so that wasn't the issue. Before we could even fully get the fact that we were rewards members out she had already pushed a button and told us it was too late for us to receive our reward points.
