    Turkey Bacon ranch
    Ashley B.

Went here today. They were slow. Ordered the Turkey Bacon ranch sandwich and made it a combo. Added a chocolate chip cookie and lemonade. My significant other made his own sandwich in there and ordered Doritos and strawberry sprite. They have the coke freestyle machine, but I always try to get Lemonade. They were relatively clean in there. Our food was quick. And they were nice. They gave me a large cup for no extra charge since my sandwich was a medium. The also allowed my daughter to have the fire chief hat, which she really loved. This is my favorite sub chain to eat at. Plus you can donate to first responders here too. And when we got my partners sandwich, there wasn't a pickle. So when I asked, they gave us three! I will definitely be coming back in the future.

This is a nice, large Firehouse Subs. There's plenty of seating and plenty of room to move around in. It's in a great location in Riverside, just right around the corner from 5 Points. Employees here are friendly and they always make the subs just right. My personal favourite is the Hook & Ladder. YUM! I'm actually craving one now writing the review! I know I'm not very original because that is a favourite for many, many people. But, I like what I like. If for some reason you haven't tried the Hook & Ladder... what the heck are you waiting for?! It's smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted monterey jack with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side. No onion for me and I always substitute the monterey jack for american. The steak & cheese is also really good here. If for some reason I'm not feeling the Hook & Ladder, I get the steak & cheese. The restaurant is kept very clean, as are the restrooms. They have one of the cool Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. I personally love those. Vanilla Coke - YUM! I bumped this chain restaurant up to 4 stars because I really feel the employees here go above and beyond. The service is just exceptional.

This is a brand new Firehouse Subs to replace the one around the corner that burned down a few years ago. Believe me, we are so happy to have them back here in Riverside! This new restaurant is huge compared to the old one, with plenty of room to move and sit. It's clean as a whistle and the employees all have excellent attitudes. The subs were delicious. The three of us ordered our faves (Engineer, Meatball, and New York Steamer) and all were very generous in preparation. (Note: you don't have to be a kid to ask for a firehat. LOL) The only thing I do not like is the parking lot. Parking to the left (looking at the shop) is primarily for Publix employees, so you have to park either on the street, across the street, or behind the strip-mall. It's a bit convoluted, but take your time and you'll find a spot. Also, as I mentioned in a tip here, the Margaret Street addy is the mailing addy of the strip-mall, the actual restaurant is on Oak Street and faces Publix.

Waiting on my 12" Hook & Ladder

This place is surprisingly huge inside. Big enough for large groups, very clean and inviting for customers. There are tons of specialty sub combos with cute names such as the Hook & Ladder, Firehouse Meatball, New York Steamer Sub, the Italian, Turkey Bacon Ranch, Club On A Sub, Firehouse Steak and Cheese, The Engineer, Firehouse Hero Sub and those are just the hot ones. You get to choose their white or wheat bread in 6" or 12" sizes. Apparently a favorite among the staff is the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket (the #10) All of the 6" subs run about $5-7 a la carte & with a meal about $2 more. They also have 3 chopped salads available to buy: a house salad, an Italian with grilled chicken and the Hook and Ladder salad all about $7-8 each. They offer kid's combos, a signature chili, a light menu under 500 calories, cold deli hero subs and a ton of other menu items that makes you want to come back for more. There's even three televisions so you could watch TV while you wait. Plenty of outside seating with umbrellas if you want to take your meal outside and this particular location does a ton of catering so I was told. The staff here is polite and friendly and the service was fast. Overall, the Firehouse Subs that I went with (the Hook & Ladder and the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket) were both fresh, filling and delicious. And although it's a bit on the pricier side for just lunch, it's OK to splurge once in a while.

Very professional, helpful & friendly staff. Very clean. Very busy - But it's 5-Points! Great location with outdoor seating.

    Mass murder of free food!

A true test of any great business is to have an event that requires them to feed the masses without any issues. Today, they held a preview tasting of their 6 new subs. One free sandwich per person. This place was packed! The Firehouse employees did not flinch and they worked magically together to create these new sandwiches without problems or seeming to be incredibly flustered. I was very impressed by their ability to calmly and effectively (even quickly) get out each order as fast as they can without messing up the orders. I had their new Captain Sorensen Datil Pepper Grilled Chicken sandwich. It was complete with yummy melted Monterey Jack cheesy goodness, warm and tender grilled chicken. Even on a wheat bread roll and light mayo, you would never know that this was a low-fat, low-calorie sandwich. The flavors were so perfectly complemented that you only focus on the deliciousness! My children had the Hook N' Ladder Light. A lighter version of their original sandwich was perfectly assembled and delicious. My kids would not stop eating it! They had no idea something this delicious was actually good for them as part of a healthy lifestyle. Who would have thought looking after yourself could taste so good? Firehouse Subs have outdone themselves with these new, low-calorie and tasty sandwiches and offering a free sandwich to get the hype out there was genius. I will be back to try the other four sandwiches on the menu in their entirety!

Service and cleanliness at this location was absolutely amazing. Don't know if CJ is a manager but she was great. Really caring about how things r run at this store. My normal location is Normandy. It was nice to know things are run like this everywhere!

My go-to is the Hoss burger, because I love the onion rings and special sauce, but their steaks (ribeye and tenderloin) are also perfectly aged and fresh off the butcher block. This is a small deli with seating tucked away on a neighborhood street where you're guaranteed to be greeted with a friendly smile by someone willing to answer any questions you may have. It's an older building but they're serving up bistro quality food. The menu is written on the wall to the right of the register, but they also have a printout. If you're prone to decision overwhelm and don't want to order 14 things, you can also look at the menu on their website! If I lived in walking distance, I'd come here twice a week. They also sell beer, wine, salads, sandwiches, and chicken tenders and fried fish! Can you tell I'm obsessed with this place?!

I went to Pinegrove Deli with very little idea of what to expect and was happy with my choice. After intensely studying the menu I finally decided on the Ortega. I love chicken salad so jazz it up with some tabouli and put it in a pita and I'm sold! I also ordered a side of onion rings which were also good. There was a pretty long wait to order, I'm not sure if the kitchen was backed up or they were short staffed but it was drastic enough that some people left before ordering and regulars were mentioning the wait time was getting worse. I have nothing to compare it to but it was 12:30 on a Saturday so it might have also just been a rush.

My son and I have been trying restaurants in this area and this was next on our list. Store was very clean, as I said before service was outstanding. Here's a list of the food we tried: Drink stand - not many selections, but they do have Coke products. Sweet tea - they have not perfected the taste of Southern sweet tea, but it was fine French fries - crisp crunchy exterior soft, interior, really well done. . Egg salad sandwich - it was just an egg salad sandwich, no better no worse than others, just fine . European Gyro - this was a normally euro stuff with french fries, it was a cool look in the dish was good. Overall, I wanted to love this place, and it was fine. But that's all it was was fine, they played it safe, they didn't try to spice up their menu or give you a number of unique specials. They just serve decent food at what I thought was a high price. For instance, my egg salad sandwich, and I'm an egg salad, lover, Fair but it was $13 without many side drink or chips. Most places, including Tidbits, which is one of their competitors, is less than $5. But I have to say they five other restaurants in this strip center, including the powerhouse Mexican food at El Castillo, Donato's Pizza, Mad o' Seafood, a Latino restaurant and Açaí Bowls. So if you're going to compete with these other restaurants, I think you need to go above and beyond. Maybe highlight Middle Eastern dishes, maybe makes egg salad with some curry powder, and don't charge so much for just plain sandwiches. I don't have any qualms about going back, but I also don't have anything to draw me back. That special dish or that special thing. And that seem to be the theme with the other people that came in. This was a first time visit for a lot of people , and a regular crowd just wasn't there. Maybe that is telling.

It was a first time visit for both of us. I told the young lady neither of us had been there before and she offered to run through the menu for us which was great. I loved that. She described "The Peruvian" as (her words) "meat heavy". I've heard amazing things in the past about the Peruvian sauce, so that is what I landed on and chose to have it on their onion roll. Hubby went with the "Angie's Philly". I want to preface this with my husband and I had complete opposite opinions and you're going to hear about both of them. For me: When I heard the words "meat heavy" I did expect a larger than normal amount of meat, and maybe thats on me, or a lost in translation example, because in my mind this is not "meat heavy". HOWEVER, before you start angry typing, I REALLY enjoyed my sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and at one point (which I will touch on further down) I looked at my husband and said "Yeah... this is so much better than Larry's". I even put a little extra Peruvian sauce on it while devouring it. The bread was toasted perfectly, had GREAT flavor. I could have easily had a second (or maybe double meat? ) Anyways, zero co.plaints except for the lost in translation expectation. I hope that makes sense. Now, for my husband, who is extremely difficult to please. At first, when our sandwiches were delivered to the table, he was given someone else's sandwich and he ended up having to send it back and wait on his, while I started on mine. Whatever, mistakes happen, shit happens, and we weren't in any kind of rush, so no biggie. When his sandwich arrived and he began to eat it, he was disappointed. He said it doesn't taste like they season the meat at all and it felt bland. He noted that the cheese was melted on top and could have used more cheese chopped and grilled in the meat along with more mayonnaise. He's picky. About halfway though, he said he'd give it a 3 out of 5. Then began to finish the second half and apparently bit into some areas that were burnt and overcooked and dropped it to a 2.5. He said it wasn't bad enough not to complain or send back but not good enough to write home about. So that's the take for today's visit. We would both (especially me) try them out again in the future, and I personally can see why they're so loved.
