Stopped by Firehouse for the first time recently near work. It's fast food, but it's definitely elevated from what you may be used to in a fast food experience. The staff was polite and professional. My food came out fairly quickly. The interior was clean and really themed well to resemble a real Firehouse. The food was better than most you'd experience in fast food. The bread is super soft and fresh. My cheese steak was tasty along with the chips. Really nice soda fountain as well along with iced tea. It was reasonably priced for what it was. Really good sandwich shop especially if you need it quickly. I suggest you give them a try. read more

Jacksonville, FL Baymeadows location. My wife sat in the drive-thru for over 20 minutes after placing her order before anyone even came to the window to take payment. She was then told by employee Darius that it took so long because they had a lot of orders and she was only one person. Then he handed her a bag that had been sitting by the window for several minutes. If you want hot fries or speedy service, this probably isn't the place to get them. They do make a decent sandwich, though, which is why I'm giving them 2 stars instead of the 1 that their customer service deserves. Customer service is key, people. Even mediocre food can be forgiven if you have great customer service. However, even great food can't save you from bad customer service. read more

I stopped by about 15 mins before they closed to grab a sub to go via drive thru (a nice option at this location). The young lady working the window was Alexis. She was full of smiles, friendly, and totally working to make my drive thru visit perfect. It was like receiving 5 star service you would hope to get at fine dining. However, this young lady has the hospitality gene well beyond her years. I would suspect she will run her own store one day and it will be one of their best ever. Awesome job, Alexis. Got here 30 mins before they closed today, 22 Feb 2025, a guy and two girls. Girl at the front who was making a sandwich said absolutely nothing to the two couples, that included us, when we walked in. No, I'll be right with you, or anything so we waited to order, still nothing 4 minutes later. A guy walked out from the back, rude to everyone, said behind the counter he "didn't give a shit" about something, I'm assuming that it was about my sandwich because when he said it, the girl said "did you read it?" I specifically ordered no ranch and no onion on the kiosk. He also said that they had no tea and they had no au jus sauce, like there was still 30 mins before they closed. They remade my sandwich and it was fine. But when the hubs asked about what they wanted him to do with the other sandwich that he brought up, they said...I don't care, throw it away. I mean, as an owner myself, I'd want to know when my employees don't read what was to be done to the sandwich and then have to throw it away because they didn't make it correctly. Firehouse subs is a sub chain that's been around for quite a while! In fact, they were actually founded here in Jacksonville. Looking to mix things up for lunch, I decided to drive over here to grab me a special sandwhich. Going in, there was plenty of seating available inside. I ordered my go to firehouse sandwhich - the hook and ladder - which I got medium sized! Moving on with my review, the sub was pretty good, but could use some tweaks. For starters, the sandwhich wasn't as crispy as I would've liked it, and lacked little bit of meat as some of my bites tasted like straight bread. However, the toppings were very fresh, meats (turkey and ham) had bold tasty flavor, and bread tasted baked in house! What I do love putting on the sandwiches here, is the Sorensen's Datil Pepper Hot Sauce. Has this smoky, sweet, and spicy zing that adds a nice flavor to each sandwhich! I usually love putting it on with the hook & ladder or steak & cheese sandwhich. Despite my critiques and complements, service was friendly. Overall, I did enjoy my sub today, and find that with a few tweaks, this firehouse subs location can be easily a 4/5! read more

I just left this location & I explained to the manager I believe it is (African American women with dreads) that you guys messed up an order of mine & I was told to come back & get a new sandwich & she was very rude & unprofessional as she claimed that she didn't see my name on the list that I told her I was supposedly on. I like the new location, but not getting in there or parking. But to avoid all of that, you can take the drive thru which this location has and boy can they churn out the orders. I'd love to see them next to Chick Fil A who moves the cars the fastes during lunch rush. This place definitely gets crazy during lunch it the quality hasn't changed. They also have new combos now where you can pair a sub with a signature side. I think they had salad, Mac and cheese, chili and maybe another option. Really cool. I always suggest to people to try the hot sauce bar area. Always something good over there if you like your meals with a special kick! read more

Around 11:45-12 in the early afternoon ventured to Firehouse with a couple of co workers, a place I hadn't been for what seems like years. Has probably been about 4 of years at least. We were advised of an impending 15 to 20 minute wait. Speaking amongst our group we decided to stay. After the cashier took an inside order, she then received and obtained a telephone order which I patiently waited for. Afterwards, I stepped to the counter intending to place my order. The cashier blanketly stated the tickets were on the floor; then spoke to me about them and showed me the tickets that were waiting to be filled & mentioned there were others on the floor. She then proceeded to state (ask) are you sure you want to wait? Feeling pushed away and unwelcome, we left. Hungry. So this was my second time reading at firehouse, the first time was several years ago and I cannot say that I was overwhelmed with their food as I really don't recall what I ate our even if I truly enjoyed it. So with my recent body I would have to say that I was truly not impressed. I ordered the steak sub. The meat was so overcooked, and they cut it up so finely that it was like crumbs. This is the first firehouse I've ever seen with a DRIVE THROUGH! Wow! Firehouse is one of my favorite sandwich chains and this location matches the food quality I've seen in others. I would definitely choose it over a Subway any day! Being an out-of-townee this was my first time eating at this establishment, on the inside it was very clean and it also has a lot of seating. At this visit I ordered a medium turkey on wheat fully involved with Miss Vickie's jalapeno chips (my usual order!) and it was fab. Another thing I love about firehouse is that they have a rewards program where you get points for your purchases, definitely check that out if you love Firehouse as much as I do! On another note, they had a very welcoming environment when you walk in, however, ordering from the counter was an awkward experience, the person taking our order didn't really say much which made me feel a little uncomfortable and detracted a bit from my experience. I've had firehouse a million and one times and for the most part my meals are not too bad or even amazing on some occasions. This last time I went I was highly disappointed. I ended up throwing away half of my large sub because of the quality of how it was made. If you have been to firehouse you know a large sub sets you back $10 so I basically threw away at least $5. When I received my large sub I noticed that the sub looked a little deflated. I grabbed the first half of my sub and the bottom of it was really wet, like uncomfortably wet. Being a trooper I attempted to eat the first half as massive amounts of juice dripped all over the place and my sandwich was falling apart. After eating a good portion of the first half of my sub I grabbed the second half and it was sitting in its own pool of juices so long I was unable to even pick it up as it disintegrated in my hands. I just ended up throwing it away. The chips were good and now they have a carbonated version of their cherry limeade which was nice. The end result is that I will probably not be visiting this location again as I live closer to a firehouse that has yet to disappoint me. It could have just been a mistake on their part, but when subs cost that much I rather not chance it. read more

This is one of my favorite sandwich places for a chain. The bread is great. The preparation of the sandwiches - heating the meat, toasting the bread. This makes a great sandwich. This location has good customer service and the sandwiches are great too. This is one of the busiest stores in this strip mall. Love my local Firehouse. read more

I've always loved Firehouse Subs, however today's experience at Baymeadows location was least to be desired. Out of five orders for pickup only one was correct. How sad it was when I called to speak to the store manager and after explaining to him that out of Five orders they only got one correct, his response was "we are all human and make mistakes"..... wow he thinks that only getting 20% correct is " we are human"... well that percentage would put any company out of business... sorry Mister owner for the bad review. Fast service. Sub was made right the first time, and it actually looked like the picture! Everything was fresh and tasted great. Larger than average location. I recommended it to anyone looking for an awesome sub. Some of the team members weren't all too friendly though, which is kind of a let down because of the standards set by other locations. read more

A friend and I spent $17 for two steak subs around 8 PM on 2/20/2012. The steak itself was lifeless and almost tasteless. The green peppers and mushrooms were over-cooked, lifeless and tasteless to match. The soda machine was without ice (it was taken care of at my behest). The help seemed mildly interested in anything other than, perhaps, being able to clock out for the night in an hour or so, and he tables were dirty. This is NOT what one would expect in upscale Baymeadows and I can only imagine what a health inspector might have found. Publix doesn't sell steak subs, but their subs are not over priced; you get 6 or 12 inch subs rather than just take-or-leave 8" ones, and the quality of the meats and condiments are *never* less than fresh and tasty,, and the rolls are fresh and flavorful. (I do not work for Publix,nor any friends or family who do).. Firehouse has too many competitors who emphasize freshness and customer care. So avoid Firehouse like the plague. I had the european sub and my husband had the chicken salad sub and they were absolutely delicious. I love the mushrooms and swiss cheese on the european. The staff were nice and sweet. They were close to closing time and no linger had sweet tea. They made a whole new pot. I felt special. Awesome service if I can say so myself. read more
