We don't have a Firehouse Subs near me, so I got in the car and drove the ten minutes north on the highway to reach the nearest one. I've been so disappointed with everyone else's subs (Penn Station, Jersey Mike's, the pizza franchises), I thought what do I have to lose? I am happy I did though! Though it's a little bit on the expensive side ($15), I got the XL Hook & Ladder and, boy, it was very good! So loaded with toppings (unlike most other places), it definitely filled me up and not just with a lot of veggies- there was a ton of meat! I also liked the attention I got from the sufficiently staffed, clean, and well-appointed restaurant. I will return.

UNBELIEVABLY slow service 6 people working and it takes 25 minutes for 1 sandwich. Seemed like no one was in charge Most workers were in the back room. Ice machine went unfilled despite numerous customers asking for ice telling them it was empty Owner an GM (If there is one) should be HIGHLY PISSED and clean house These kids are running a once great restaurant into the ground

Firehouse has never been my first choice of sub places, but I was pleasantly surprised this time. I've been to other locations, once or twice. The subs are good, but they always seemed small, overpriced, and with slowwwwww service. This time, the size and price seemed reasonable (though the service was still slow.) Compared to, say, Jersey Mike's or Grinders, both doing similar hot subs, it seems like orders take forever. But, they've changed either their sizes or prices, because the value ratio is better than I remember. I got a large "New-York-whatever-their-cutesy-name-is," basically pastrami and brisket, with mustard and provolone. I should have added veggies, but it was good bread with tasty, tender meat. Plenty of it, but also room for something semi-healthy, so next time I will add tomatoes, lettuce, etc. It's plenty big. I also tried their chili, again a little overpriced but good quality and an okay portion. Thick, heavily seasoned (but not spicy,) lots of meat and beans. Sweetie got broccoli cheese soup and the bacon turkey ranch. She and Baby K shared. The place was clean, parking is decent. Still not my favorite, but I won't resist going back.

Medium New York steamer on wheat. Yum. Is the ruben next?

First time here at this store. It is essentially across from Gahanna Lincoln. We ordered a New York steamer. Nicely packaged in a recyclable container, it came with a crisp dill pickle spear and lots of napkins. The real surprise came with the first bite....ahhhhhh smoked meat. It was a third of the price of a sub we had in Salt Lake, with 5 times the meat and 100 times the enjoyment. With a few chips and a little homemade fruit salad, one sub easily fed two. I can see me getting a sub or two on the way to the airport. Fast, friendly and efficient service. I wish they were closer but the quality is good enough to go out of my way. Certainly not the usual chain subs. This is more like a specialty deli sub without the price.

Where's the bun??? Delivered to me like like this.

I ordered 3 subs and my sub was sent with half the top bun missing. So, somehow, a mouse got in there and ate it, the Uber driver got hungry on their way to my house, or they just forgot to put it back on.

    Medium Club on a Sub

To be honest, if you dine in it's a solid 3 stars as the ambiance is rather drab but the carryout is usually a 3.5 star experience. It's not a speedy in and out experience, presumably because they steam the meat but it still feels slower than expected. They have an ok menu size but not overflowing with options. I usually stick with the club and call it a day since most of the other subs are super high in calories. For Gahanna sub options, it's a decent option but not "the best I've ever had" sandwich.

My only complaint is the distance to drive to one. I love Firehouse Subs. Clean place, my favorite is the brisket. They help first responders with life saving tools, resources and support. Not much else I can say. You either love it or you don't.

Wow! This is the best firehouse subs I've been to! I got the turkey bacon ranch sandwich and it was delicious!! My partner got the firehouse meatball and said this is his new favorite place! Alexandria helped us at the register with a good attitude and a smile!

I guess when you try a new place, you should either go with someone who's been there before or tell them it's your first time there. I ordered a steak and cheese. He asked me what size. I thought he was talking about the drink, so I said small. After waiting 15 minutes, the picture below is what I received. It looks very different from the picture on their menu sign. If I do go back, I will make sure I don't order a small.

First time my wife and daughter stopped before our daughter headed overseas for two years in the Peace Corps. Scotty''s is super close and convenient to the airport. Scotty learned of the imminent departure and came with cookies and treats for the long flight! And now this morning it was another airport drop off. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that. Seriously, I can declare victory for finding something I'd never had before. Never would have found it without the nudge. Had to cut myself off with all the coffee offers. Just a great vibe. You rarely see a 4.9 rating and even more rarely that high based on so many reviews. But I understand why - like in so many things in life, it is about the people. And the joy they bring to every conversation. And I will just add, in this age when some would divide us, this dining room is filled with all manner of folks, reveling together over food in fellowship.

I would get them again. The dill pickle potato salad was okay. But let's get to these sandwiches. Meaty, juicy goodness. The sandwich that I got was a special called the King of the Rodeo. Meatloaf, bacon, white cheddar, BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions and ranch on sourdough. OMG! Put this on your regular menu, Newfangled! My wife got the Joe Brrr, essentially a Turkey Reuben. Completely different from my sandwich but very good. No wonder everyone gives this place 5 stars.

This Sandwich Brought the Heat: My Visit to Newfangled Kitchen…read more Some meals leave you full. Others leave you talking. And then there's the Lucifer's Hammer sandwich from Newfangled Kitchen in Bexley, Ohio--which left me sweating, smiling, and seriously considering a second round. I'd heard whispers about Newfangled Kitchen for a while. It's one of those word-of-mouth places--no gimmicks, no over-the-top Instagram vibes, just damn good sandwiches built with love (and a little madness). So when I finally found myself near Bexley, I knew I had to stop in. The moment you walk in, you get a sense of what this place is all about. The decor is no-frills but full of personality--warm wood tones, clever sandwich names chalked up on the wall, and a retro, diner-meets-neighborhood-joint kind of charm. It's small inside--cozy, really--with a few tables to snag if you're lucky. But if the weather's nice, the real move is to take your order out to one of the picnic tables just outside. There's something about spicy meatloaf and sunshine that just works. Now, about that sandwich. Lucifer's Hammer. Even the name dares you to underestimate it. We're talking a thick slab of meatloaf--juicy, savory, slightly crisp around the edges--stacked with fiery jalapeños, melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and smothered in their housemade diablo sauce. All that gets hugged by a soft, toasted bun. One bite in, and it's clear this isn't just a sandwich. It's a full-on assault (in the best way) on your tastebuds. The meatloaf is the real MVP here--comfort food leveled up. It's hearty, flavorful, and holds its own under the weight of the spice. The jalapeños bring the fire, but it's the diablo sauce that steals the show. Creamy, smoky, spicy--it lingers long after the last bite like a good movie scene you replay in your head. But Newfangled doesn't stop at one knockout. They've got a whole lineup of meatloaf-based magic. There's the "Newfangled"--their namesake sandwich, topped with bacon, cheddar, and a tangy barbecue aioli that brings the sweet-and-savory energy. Or the "Phil's Delight," which throws in fried onions and horseradish mayo for a punchier, richer flavor profile. If you want something a little less volcanic than Lucifer's Hammer but still packed with character, "The Fancy Pants" is a solid move--Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, and just enough zip to keep things interesting. And don't sleep on the sides. The mac & cheese is creamy and golden--exactly what you want riding shotgun next to your sandwich. The tater tots are crispy and nostalgic in the best way. And yes, they've got hand-cut fries too--salty, satisfying, and perfect for dipping into any sauce you "accidentally" save from your sandwich. Need something sweet to cool things down after Lucifer scorches your tastebuds? Enter the dessert menu. On my visit, there was a rotating selection of housemade brownies and cookies, and they were everything you hope they'd be--gooey, chocolatey, just-right indulgence that ties the meal together like a great movie ending. Newfangled Kitchen knows what it is: a sandwich shop with soul. No frills. No filler. Just really good food done really well. It's the kind of place where you feel like a regular even on your first visit, where the staff greets you with a smile and a knowing nod when you point to the hotter options on the board. If you ever find yourself anywhere near Bexley, do yourself a favor: stop in. Order the Lucifer's Hammer if you dare, but whatever you choose, bring your appetite. Grab a picnic table if the weather's kind, and take your time with it. Because sometimes, it's not just about the destination--or even the sandwich. Sometimes, you've just gotta take the trip.

Good bread, good ham salad (though not quite as good as at an Amish grocery, say.) Good toppings. And a big serving. The combo gives you a canned drink and a side- I got broccoli salad because I love it and it's not super common at stores and restaurants. It was also pretty good.
