It's been quite some time since I've been to a Charley's, so I thought I'd stop in for a Chicken Philly for lunch. And that's what these guys are famous for. They were empty on a Thursday afternoon at 3:30, so my order didn't take too long, A regular Chicken Philly, fries and drink. A bottle of Garlic and Parmesan Cheese seasoning later, and I sat down to start a late lunch. Funny thing, the Garlic & Parmesan seasoning. It goes well on just about everything, and I didn't need the two things of ketchup you see in the picture below. I sat down and thoroughly enjoyed lunch for the first time in what seemed like forever. I don't understand the low ratings I've read about this particular chain. It's part of the Charley's chain, to be sure, but the service I received and that I saw other receive while I was there wasn't sub-par. One gentleman had to call out for someone (around 3 minutes after I got my food), but after that the counter was staffed. Of course... I had to do the same when I went in. Prices were very reasonable for the quality. Everything was fresh and hot. Amongst the "fast-casual" sandwich chains I can think of, I would put this at the top, then Jersey Mike's, Penn Station, Potbelly, Dibella's, Firehouse, Quizno's, Subway, and Jimmy John's, in roughly that order. It has been quite a while since I have been to a Charleys. Went after TKD and have to say this location is very clean and updated. The only real problem we had was the wait for cashier to get over to register and there was some kind of problem with water at the drink station / was draining on the floor. Besides that the food was excellent and even though I went mostly for Bacon Cheddar Fries, I think the sandwich was better . Love their lemonade!! Think I will come back just for that. read more

For a restaurant that sells grilled made-to-order subs, I was amazed how clean their kitchen was. All of their ingredients looked fresh, like they had just gotten it from the farm. They have a lot of different options to choose from, from chicken to pepperoni that are put on top of the steak. I've only been here once, so I can't compare their current portion size to what it was before (someone said they're small). But these are definitely not small! About 2 weeks ago I witnessed a serious health code violation. The griller was using gloves, but removing the wax paper that is in contact with raw meat with her hands. Then she touched the utensils and picked up cheese that is not always cooked. She also grabbed the paper surrounding my finished sub. This is cross contamination and has no place in the food industry. The workers attempted to make a new sub, but placed the contaminated cheese on my replacement sub. One reason that I went to Charley's is that they make it on front of you. I need to make sure that do not get sick because I am chemotherapy patient. Sadly, the management seems to be in disarray at this location. I was told by the manager that I would have a free combo to make up for this bad experience. However, when I went in to redeem the free combo the manager had no idea about it and I was told I could come back tomorrow.... I won't be coming back tomorrow. read more

After being a loyal customer of this charleys in particular for the last few years (eating their on almost a weekly basis, and getting to know the employees quite well) I am very displeased to say will never enter the charleys on sawmill ever again. After switching management at the beginning of the year, changes have included; firing employees, changing ingredients and most of all jacking up prices to unreasonable highs. With lesser portions and a clear lack of deals, the chain has lost all the flair it once had. After expressing my concerned to the new management, I was met with a bad taste in my mouth, as the once overly friendly and personable cast,was now long gone. I hate your new business model. I like to be able to tell the preparer how I like my sandwich. I ordered it to go and he hands me a plastic square with a number on it...can't think of a better way to pass germs right after I washed my hands. Then he hands me a box with my meal in it...I have to ask for napkins...shouldn't that be automatic? Who doesn't use napkins? I then ask for salt packets. "We don't have any". I love this place. I'm from the east coast and this is the first place I've gotten a steak and cheese for fear of disappointment. Yummo. First of all, the people working here are awesome. Not sure if every location has people that are so nice but they really are sooooooo nice. The manager there just gushes over my daughter whenever we go in and he slips me some oreos for her. he even asks first before just giving them so as not to interfere. This isn't your typical "I hate my life and my job heres your food" kinda place....but if so-they hide it well! The cheesesteaks are awesome, and the Chicken cheesesteaks are awesome too. Their fries are always super hot and fresh. They're very fairly priced. the toppings are pretty average, but you can put whatever you want on it. I definitely wouldn't order to go as ive noticed when taking my time the sub roll got a teeny soggier then I would have liked-but I've never had an issue inhaling the sub before its become an issue.
