Question: Have you ever driven 45 minutes for the express purpose of having a sandwich? I have more then once and every time that sandwich has come from Firehouse Subs. Here's the break down. They aren't a cheep meatless bland sandwich like you might find at subway. They also aren't a tradition high quality deli either. Most of the sandwiches on the menu are at least somewhat unique. The meat isn't your tradition deli counter meats, but many of them are in house brands (not made on location.). Their brisket is nothing short of delicious. As is their Pastrami. The bread isn't anything spectacular but the meat is the star here. My wife regularly gets their turkey subs and the meat is defiantly not you standard compressed deli fair. If I were going to take off points for anything, their ham is standard sweet deli ham. It's way too sweet for my taste so that immediately eliminates any sub that includes ham from my menu options. With the Brisket and Pastrami why would I bother anyway? Would I come here if I wanted a healthy light lunch? No not at all. Would I come here for a traditional cold Sub? Probably not. There are a lot of places where I can get those things and most of them are closer to my front door. Firehouse sub is something different. Something worth spending a hour and quarter in a car for. read more

Today was my first and last time eating at this sandwich shop. I was very disappointed in my sub. First of all there was too much mayo not enough mustard. Then the portion size of the meat was very skimpy. Also the lack of a variety of vegetables for my sandwich left me dissatisfied. Firehouse subs is open for business. The restaurant is clean and in a nice location for easy in and out in central Folsom. Parking is easy out front and restrooms are clean. The inside is decked out in red and white and there is good sandwich shop ambiance. Lots of seating inside and outdoor patio seating as well. The menu board is big and if you want to plan ahead some menu item descriptions are online on their site. Staff were friendly and an expediter brings your food out. At order completion you will be asked to leave change for firefighter charity by rounding up your order from say $15.49 to $16.00. The soda machine has 121 combinations so you can have the concoction of your choice. Most sandwiches served with a dill pickle that is tasty. The subs are skinny sub rolls white or wheat. We tried the following and found the Steak and cheese tasty, Veggie sub terrific, and the meatball sub delectable. They are spendy for a smaller sandwich than the competition but enjoyable. Just went to Firehouse for the first time; I will not be returning anytime soon. The whole place was chaos and no one seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing. I waited 25 minutes for a sub sandwich. Really?! And none of the employees even apologized for my wait time. While waiting, I watched 4 other customers return their sandwiches which had been made wrong. Terrible service trumps the fact that I liked the actual sandwich. read more

Grest service but the food was ok at best. They put hot meat on a cold sub, which needless to say made everything warm and hard to enjoy. I wanted a cold sandwhich. Not a warm soggy one. The employees where super nice. Very accomidating. I had to have my sandwhich made again because they put mayo on after I asked for to be held. No biggie. Just didn't like the hot meat on top on cold toppings combination. I didn't want to be more of a pain i had a few bites and took home. There I took it apart and munched on the meat and cheese. If you're vegetarian, don't bother with this place. They have one vegetarian sandwich and its not on the menu. Avoid their sauteed veggies because they're prepared in an anchovy sauce(gross). I can't say enough about this place! Loved the decor. Staff was very friendly. The menu sucked you into wanting one of everything with the yummy, enticing pictures! I'm not a red meat eater that often. But we couldn't say no to the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket sub. It was scrumptious! The bread was so soft and fresh, the meat was made to perfection and the BBQ sauce was just right, not overbearing. The price was also on point. I've been to many other places and paid a few dollars more for much smaller of a sandwich. This place has found new regulars in our family! So many other subs looked so good, but it's going to be hard not to indulge in the beef & cheddar again! read more

I have been to the Firehouse Subs in Folsom several times since they opened. I usually get something from the Under 500 Calorie menu and have never been disappointed. The Turkey and Cranberry is my favorite, but it's kind of messy and sticky, so be prepared. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. I'm not a fan of the "Welcome to Firehouse" greeting you get when you walk in the door. During the lunch hour, if your dining in, it can get kind of annoying. read more

My friend and I had plans to go to which wich today but it closed, and we found firehouse subs and realized we have never been here before. We decided to try somewhere new and it was AMAZING!! Great food, great staff, and great company. The company is very big on giving back to the community, featuring things like 'kids eat free' and 'free drink if you're wearing your sports jersey'. They ask if you want to round up your dollar to give back to local first responders, and sell buckets to give the proceeds to them and the community. The food is so good, I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with anything you order. We will definitely be coming back here often! read more

I went here while on my lunch break after ordering my food online. I went picked it up and went back to work I ordered the Steak and cheese. When i got back to work and went to take a bite I noticed something odd.. I opened my sandwich to find mushrooms on it I HATE mushrooms. I check to make sure I did not forget to uncheck it or checked them on accident and my receipt had nothing on it plus they are an upcharge and I was not charged. I threw the sandwich away and emailed them on the website to tell them about this because the mistake could of turned bad if I was allergic. Have been here twice and combining visits in one review in the interest of fairness. First visit, family out of town and left to fend for myself, I figured I'd give the "new place" a shot. Ordered the signature "hook & ladder" with everything. Asked for name? Seems odd to take a seat to wait for a sub, but no problem as it gives me a chance to "check the place out". Some cool fire theme stuff, big variety of hot sauces, TVs tuned to football and MMA. All in all, pretty fun and clean. Service was good even though they showed some "newness" in revue of menu options. Grab a few cups of the signature sauce and head home. Sandwich is filled with plenty of meat & ingredients. Although the bread is "skinnier" than your typical subway, I would compare the volume of sandwich contents and taste favorably. Fast forward about 3 months...friend's birthday request for gift card at nearby restaurant puts me "in the neighborhood" so I call wife and she agrees to try a salami option or veggie if they have it. Greeted politely, asked if it was 1st time there and relayed story of previous visit. Of the many options available, decided to try the "Italian"....OOPS "I'm sorry, we are out of salami" (mind races...that's what I wanted, what now, how does a sandwich place run out of salami? It's hardly perishable like fresh sushi, this is Tuesday at 5:30 how could this happen?) Gal suggests they can sub more ham or pepperoni, if that's ok? Sure, no biggee, I'm not a food snob by any imagination...more ham then. Next question "What kind of bread?" Wheat "Uh....we are out of wheat". WHAT? What other options do I have? "we only have white left". Oke-Dokie, I guess I'm having white!! Staff is polite and apologetic through it all, although they have no salami and ONLY white bread, they do have a veggie sub (not listed on menu board though). Despite the difficulties of getting in and out of the location, the slightly higher price of the product and today's fiasco, I like their sandwiches and the whole "support the fireman deal". But to think that a sub shop would be down to white bread ONLY and out of salami on a Tuesday afternoon leaves me concerned that good service, product and atmosphere may not be enough to overcome poor management. The first thing I noticed going into Firehouse for my first time was the wide selections of hot sauces with rating stickers from 1 to 10 on degrees of hotness. I really liked this. The variety of sandwiches is decent and the quality of ingredients is fairly high for the prices. The sandwiches are on the small size and slightly bland. I had the Italian and was a disappointed that the salami, pepperoni and Italian dressing packed no punch. The place was very busy, not a bad thing and I will not knock a company for being so, this is the goal of business. Even though busy we got our food quickly, this is always good. I love sandwiches and a good sub to me is hard to beat. This just wasn't great and didn't live up to expectations or other reviewer descriptions. read more

Great service and food! First time visiting I had one of the girls pick their favorite sub for me to try, which ended up being the turkey bacon ranch. It was great. I had to try this place out after hearing from a friend of their opening a month ago. The place had a nice, clean environment with friendly staff and a nice selection of subs. The food may be a little pricey (around $10 for a medium and a combo), but this place blows Subway or Quiznos out of the water. You can really taste the difference in quality of meat and ingredients used. I've been here multiple times now, and every time I am greeted by a welcoming staff and a nice football game to watch while I wait for my food. My definite favorite is the BBQ Brisket, with the Meatball Sub in a close second. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to try it out, and the service is so fast it doesn't really matter if you're on a lunch break or bringing the whole family in. read more

I went here the other day and the sandwich was just ok. Based on a recommendation, I got the Engineer but the turkey was shredded so much it was practically paste. The only thing holding it together was the melted cheese. Supposedly this sandwich came 'Fully Involved' but there was no mayo or mustard on it (I pulled half of the sandwich apart and checked). At least at Subway you can see them making your sandwich. Apparently there are some extra items you could add to the sandwich but the person behind the counter didn't mention them. If I'm paying $10 for a sandwich, I should eat it there because that way I can bring up any issues right away instead of getting home and finding out its not right. read more

This place has some pretty tasty sandwiches. On my receipt, they stamped it of me so that I can return for a free sandwich during certain hours. I guess its slow during those hours and they don't mind offering this to patrons. I don't know if they offer that every time though. Anyway, I recommend this deli. really 2.5 stars If you are a meat eater they are great! My brother got a large sub, and it was HUGE! and the meat and veggies were about and inch thick each! BUT I ordered a veggie sub (not o the menu, but you can get it). I was fine when they put mushrooms even when I said no mushrooms. (I waited a while for my sub so I was not wanting to wait again). And a few bites in it tasted oddly like ham or something. I just thought that maybe they did not change gloves or something, so the juices go in mine. Meh, okay. then a few bites later it happened again! So I searched the other half of my sub, and come to find out, they managed to get chunks of meat scattered in my sub!!! NOT COOL! I took it to the people. they apologized, and made me a new sandwich. The manager assured me they would take vegetables from the back that they use to re-stock, so that there would for sure be no contamination! And then he gave me a card for a free sub! The sub came out fairly quickly, and was a lot better than the first!!!! It was actually SUPER AMAZING!!! They handled it well which was nice. They were also a little spendy. but for the meat subs, I thought it seemed worth it. Great for meat eaters, non-meat eaters, might be better somewhere else. read more

This was my first time ever at a firehouse subs, this was on my hour lunch break. I got the Italian sandwich with turkey instead of ham. When I ordered the guy said it would be 5 minutes.. Okay I get that you are quoting a time frame and I am not going to really hold you to it but 20 minutes! And the thing that really irritated me was that my order was for togo and I wondered what was taking so long as I had seen a sandwich sitting on their oven in a bag. Well needless to say they never called my name and I had to go get it so it was sitting their for like 10 of my 20 minute wait. First time I tried this place I wanted a meatball sub, but they were out of meatballs for some reason. The Hook and Ladder sub I got instead was actually very good, better than Quiznos in my opinion. Tonight I tried it again, and went with the spicy meatball sub. Uhm, I love spicy food and can handle a lot, but this, my friends, was very very very spicy. Probably too much. The meatballs were not good at all, I wish they were out of them again. The bread was awesome, and I like ordering online so I can just grab it and leave. I don't think I'd try this place again, but if I did, no more meatballs and definitely no more spicy meatballs. They're getting 3 stars because the first sub was pretty good, and for the yummy bread! read more
