Do not use their online ordering. I was charged for an order, then received a call that the items were unavailable. No problem, I asked to cancel the order. This is where it never got resolved. They had me give my card info over the phone in order to get a refund from the GM, Joseph. I really regret doing this, now my card info is out there and I never received the refund. I reached out via the Firehouse Chat and got Joseph's attention for one email assuring me that the refund was issued and would take 24 hours to show up. Well, that was a week ago and Joseph isn't responding to follow up emails. I sent him a screenshot of the charge and lack of refund and requested a check instead since their first attempt didn't work and I don't want to keep giving card info over the phone. He did not respond. I would have preferred to handle this privately and move on. Running out of ingredients is normal, but ignoring a customer who you've taken money from and not served, that's unacceptable. So I'm out $40 for something I never received. I'll have to dispute it with my bank. Poor customer service from the GM and they don't use secure practices with the way they handle credit cards. read more

They offer catering and trays which have to be ordered at least two days before but they also were able to make a 15 sandwich order within 20 minutes. My daughter loved this franchise in Michigan and insisted we try the Deland store. There were 3 young men behind the counter giggling and sneaking peaks at us. We felt like we were the butts of their hilarity. We finished the transaction but tossed the subs. Who knew why they were smirking? This was a while ago but we've never been back. I was excited to try Firehouse Subs. I especially wanted their Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket. My friend and I went for lunch. I got the whole Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar. She got the whole Italian. Chips were available so we each got a bag of chips. The sandwich's were stingy on the meat and the sub rolls very skinny. We were both still hungry when we left. The service was fine and the restaurant was clean, but neither of us were satisfied with the sandwiches. I've heard of Firehouse having financial woes and this could be the reason. We won't be back. Subway has bigger sub rolls and adds more meat. We'll be getting our subs there from now on. read more

During these times of uncertainty my company has made a decision to provide planned box lunches on certain days of the week to help lighten the load on our employees and also to help our local restaurants. This Firehouse Subs really stepped up when called on to prepare more than one hundred boxed lunches with just a few days notice - this restaurant provided us with a simple menu of choices that could be easily prepared and served fresh over several shifts. These freshly prepared cold sub lunchboxes were such a hit with our employees and so appreciated, but another thing that really made this program rewarding was how the staff of this sub shop reacted to our request and the appreciation they showed our management team. First time going into this place and was so excited to try the steak sandwich. However, the cashier taking my order (Not sure her name, she has black hair) had the nastiest attitude towards me and my family. Gave no tip and when I got the sandwich and it tasted awful, I had to throw it away. I hope others think twice before coming here to be disappointed. Staff is young, unprofessional, and have rude attitudes. To the owner, please look at the environment of your staff to see how they treat customers and you may profit more after cleaning house. read more

I'm writing this review while I'm on the phone having been placed on hold to take my order. I've put off writing this review for a few times because I don't think writing a review after one or two visits is fair, but to be honest this is probably after the 50th time going here. Now you might ask why someone would keep going here if they don't like it, but my 15 year old loves the subs here and there aren't many choices when it comes to fast food in downtown DeLand and sub places are minimal. Manzanos is the worst service by far...don't even try it if your not willing to sacrifice an hour of your life just to get your order and Jimmy Johns doesn't offer hot subs and Jersey Mikes closed down in less than a year of being open. That being said, this review is about Firehouse subs in downtown DeLand and the horrible service and lack of attention to detail. (I'm still on hold by the way) If you don't call ahead, you can pretty Much count on standing in the middle of the restaurant for at least 20 minutes and if you call ahead you are placed on hold for a minimum of 5 min and usually they hang up on you when they try to take you off hold. The orders are usually correct but actually placing the order and picking it up is the real problem here. Sometimes I've even gone in 10 minutes past when they have said it Would be ready and still waited a full 10 extra minutes for it to be handed to me and we are only talking about one or two subs at the most. Not several. The staff is very young and unprofessional. I never see an adult on the premises. But the one thing they always do remember to do is to ask you to "round up your amount to the nearest dollar to help out local firefighters". I wonder if the DeLand fire department is getting any of the money I along with everyone else have "rounded up" for each order over the years....or is this just a clever way to get tips on bad service? I guess we will never know. (Whoops! they just hung up on me "accidentally"....I guess I'll be calling back or going across town to Publix for a hot sub or next door to Jimmy Johns for a cold one but quicker and friendlier) Subs are good service is bad. read more

I came here for the first time this past weekend after spending 5 hours in a car dealership attempting to negotiate with a chatty 70 year old on a new Jeep. Needless to say, I was hungry and ready for some quick sustenance. As far as sandwich places go, this ranked as a mid-range for me. Though you can't expect a chain to hold up around the likes of a mom-and-pop shop I think that we can all agree that Publix sets the bar and Subway gives us a solid basement. I had a medium philly cheesesteak with chips and some sweet tea and it was pretty good. Small sandwich on wheat, good ingredients, toasted bread. I liked that they brought it out to you so you had time to chat with friends and company. The reality is this: it's a solid choice if you want a quick sandwich and you know what you're getting. It is very hard to hear and speak with the new covid mask requirements but I witnessed the cashier become so irritated with an elderly couple who was having difficulty hearing the cashier and vice Versa. It took a while for order to be ready kind of pricey. But what really bothered me is the manager sat in the back until I was almost leaving came out and the way he talked to these young adults working was so disgusting and disrespectful I had to call corporate. If that was my child I would be upset he literally talked to a young man as if he was stupid and so sarcastic I wanted to jump in. He stood behind them all arms crossed and acted like a drill Sergeant. Obviously he is not a good leader and lacked providing training . The entire time I seen these young adults work hard and fast. This location is awful! Has messed up my sub all three times I've gone once a year in the past three years. Tried calling corporate but it's a private owner location. Each time they have ruined my sandwich I've asked for them to rectify it was virtually an act of God as if I was asking them to give up their life savings not give me credit for hey properly made sandwich in the future (keep making the mistake of taking the sandwich with me and not checking while I'm there) I shouldn't have to double check somebody's work when it's their job to make a sandwich! Great sub if it wasn't for the bread. I know you are probably saying," Seriously." Yes, I had the meatball sub and my husband had the New York Steamer. My meatballs, sauce and cheese were great. First time there. Wish I could post the pic I took of my small cheese steak sub. It cost just under $5 bucks and was smaller then a short pack of ciggs. It was 4 buts if sandwich. So they charge you more then a buck a bit. WOW! Nothing special on meat just steak 'em meat. I even ask the manager if this is the normal size and he said yes. I won't be back. Not worth the money you are spending. Laspadas blows them away. Don't waist your money or time waiting. 2 sandwiches that measured 2 and a half inches long cost me just under $11 dollars.
