Had tried the Ballentyne location with my wife and we both left disappointed and feeling greasy in the mouth. But what a refreshing change when a fellow veteran and I had lunch at the location just up the road from the Dore VA Hospital. Clean, and there was a menu, that one could read, on the wall, with depictions of the meals and a handout menu at the tables. The sandwiches were very good, done to order and served on fresh, soft rolls. What a change for better. Covid proper, tables were spaced and the busser kept them spiffy. Parking is a pain. I went around twice before finding a slot. PHave to wait for the lady to finish an on phone order. It took 12 min. Was not her fault. It was because the order was long. There should be a different person taking phone orders. We ordered and sat down it took us 3 tables before we found on that was not wobbly. The drink machine was out of the drink i use (Coke Zero). You'll love the subs at Firehouse Subs. Many of the subs are warm and melt in your mouth. You can actually taste the meat and sauces, unlike other competitors. Order the sub "fully involved" and then add any extras such as cherry peppers to give it that extra flavor. If you like heat, they have a salsa bar with about 25-50 different salsas to try. Overall, this company is great. It was founded by fireman, and they donate a percentage of sales to local fire departments. They also may ask you to round up your check to the nearest dollar to help support the first responders. All for a good cause. In regards to this location it takes about 7-10 minutes to make your food. For those in a hurry, just order ahead using the app. The employees are nice and fairly quick taking orders. However, if you do plan on going here, here are some tricks to get the best deals. Upgrade your drink to large for the same price of a medium. This is could change, but medium and large drinks are the same price. Some locations are experimenting with this. Ask for a free pickle spear with your meal. As we were on the run to get many errands done on Saturday we decided to stop in this Firehouse Subs location for lunch. We were greeted with a happy tone (I like to think that she was probably smiling under her face mask) from the cashier. There was one other customer in the dining area. The area was well spaced out to meet the COVID-19 spacing requirements. Very clean dining area and women's restroom (we didn't use the men's ) And now for the food... It was made exactly to order and was very delicious. This was my first time to try the wheat bread and it was so good that I plan to stick with the wheat roll option. Ordered online, said that it would be ready within about 20 minutes. So I got there about 5 minutes early, figured it wasn't ready yet, no problem, so waited. Waited 25 more minutes. Poorly organized and poorly managed, if the web order system can't be fixed to reflect the actual time that it's ready, you need to get a different web ordering system, or fix something else. So my order for a single sub took 45 minutes. Not worth it, if I had known that I would have gone somewhere else. The employee called my name put it in the bag and just slid it across the counter. No thank you for ordering, no sorry about your wait, I wasn't even addressed when I came in the store. I am disappointed about the two hours I lost after taking my first bite of my medium italian sub with mushrooms and double meat (dont judge) and having what I can only describe as some sort of edible orgasm and passed out. When I came to I finished the task at hand but found myself crying when I got down to the last few bite because it was all ending. I can only assume that the good people of the firehouse tribe must have sprinkled some sort of meth or crack in the sandwich's. My only complaint is the crippling depression I will receive in the coming months, years or millennia because I know it doesn't get any better then this, this is Nirvana in flavor form. BUYER BEWARE: I went inside the Firehouse Sub restaurant for the first time on July 11, 2022, with my husband. We made our purchases and the cashier asked if we wanted to make a donation to First Responders. I do not give donations at restaurants and told them no. The cashier looked at me and said, "Are you sure you don't want to round up?". I was shocked that she questioned me after I had already told her no, so I said, "what?" and she asked for the THIRD time if I wanted to round up. I told her no, I did not want to. My husband and I eat our food and talk about how rude it was to ask us three times for a donation and then after getting home and looking at our receipt, I found that she took the donation anyway. After me telling her and her questioning me three times and me saying NO, she took my money anyway. My question is, if she/they stole the money from me....how many others are they taking money from ? We went in specifically because my daughter can get something with a very restricted diet due to a metabolic disorder. My husband was very clear the only thing she could eat was a turkey sandwich-just meat and Bread, nothing else. He repeated this many times. I have been a fan and customer of firehouse subs on forest drive for ages. They are always friendly and never miss a beat on my orders. The new one on garners ferry road opened and its right on my way home from work. I tried them and thing where okay. Then twice in a row I order a bowl of chili and I am sent home with a cup. The last time I called the store and explained the situation. After a talk with the manager on duty he says he will comp my order next time I come in, the complete order. thought this was great customer service. So today on my way home from work my wife sends me a text and says she has a migraine and wants a hook and ladder. so I think great I just get that meal promised to me. Well I walk in and tell the cashier what was going on. she pulled a book out and says I don't see your name. so she gets the shift manager and he again say I don't see anything. so I left my name and number knowing this was going nowhere. I hop in my car and go to my store on forest drive and pay for my meal. All I was looking for is what was promised. instead I was treated like I was trying to some kind of scam.
