Christa is kind, cool and friendly whenever I have questions or want anything in particular. The main love I have for them is that everything is organic AND plenty of variety to select from! Yams, carrots, garlic? They gots 'em, yo. Their booth size is very decent covering a variety of roots, greens, herbs and jams. Lately, I've been loading up on potatoes, sweet potatoes and yams for steaming and baking. They're located south in the arcade - just a short walk north from the flying fish crowd. Growing Washington changed the way we cook and eat!!! We've been members of this CSA for three years and have offered our front porch as a hosting site. They provide 100% LOCAL and ORGANIC fruits, veggies, and even butter, flour, fresh flowers, herbs, and eggs. All the products are fresh and unique. The BEST thing about this CSA is that they provide a LIST of all the FRESH stuff on the farm that week, and you CHOOSE what works best for your taste, cooking style, and needs. You can be adventurous one week, and conservative next week. It's all so flavorful and delicious. I've been particularly impressed with the service. We've been going with the CSA for three years and anytime there has been questionable quality they always replace it, no questions asked. Two weeks in a row we got some icky misuna, and the third week they sent us FLOWERS. I always feel like I end up on top. Just another reason to love summer in Seattle.

I went to the burger counter, and ordered as I watched the grill with roughly 30 burgers cooking at once. The woman was very friendly, patient and helpful when I explained it was my first time. I decided on ordering two. It proved to be a good idea. The burger was fantastic, cheese radio was good, flavor was good. For the $7 price tag, it is a no brainer. Go for lunch. Knowing that they had just reopened after closing for a month, it was heart-wrenching watching the firefighters drill through the front door because I knew this would be a catastrophic loss. (The firemen responded within minutes and the fire was only on the porch as far as I could see.) This was a small business with affordable produce and snacks. It was a good grab-and-go store that served the neighborhood for over 30 years. I would swing by 2-3 times a week because it's a much better alternative to pricey Whole Foods down the street. The staff were always kind and helpful. I wish I had seen or heard something that night. I don't even want to believe it. Why even do this? Now the last best thing in Roosevelt is gone. Where do we go now for groceries? How many more businesses do we need to lose in this neighborhood?

The delivery to my doorstep is still super-fantastic. The new beautiful things? They now have fruit-only and veggie-only bins! And more importantly... YOU CAN NOW MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS ON THE SITE AND BUY EXTRA ITEMS IF YOU WANT TO! I believe you're limited to 5 substitutions per bin, but that's still awesome! Sometimes I haven't finished the apples yet or know I won't want a certain item the following week, and I love that I can edit my order right on the website (instead of having to email or call). I do like going to shops and markets and picking out my own things, but experience has shown me that I just don't make enough time for that to actually have produce available in my kitchen every day/week. This way I get to discover new items, only have to decide on any substitutions I might want, and it shows up on my doorstep every Tuesday so I always have some (healthy!) food available at home without needing to go shopping. I LOVE IT! *Case of amazing customer service: The owner Carolyn recently called me because she noticed that I had selected the fruit bin, but kept substituting vegetables in. She wanted to suggest switching to the personal mixed bin because then I'd be able to still get fruit and a bunch of other items. I'm so happy I did that because with the fruit bin I kept going crazy and ordering like 10-15 bananas each time. Now I limit myself to 2-4 bananas and get a wider variety of veggies/fruit instead!

There is self-checkout with someone managing that and a few manned registers. The staff in this area always nice and helpful. Which as a given is really nice. The store seems to be well staffed overall, but you'll likely have to have to go toward the front end if any help is needed seeing as how the store is so neatly and well stocked. I don't really see staff stocking in the middle of the day. Again, PCC is not my first choice but if your income supports it, this is a nice store, with friendly staff and within the Ballard Blocks so you can make more than one stop without even having to leave the parking lot.

They have a gender friendly bathroom, which means that you're in a room, in a stall, at your most personal and private moments, and when you step out of the stall, you could be standing next to a person of the opposite sex... As a woman, I find this rather disconcerting. I stepped out of a stall to see a huge man standing at the sink. This is rather disconcerting. It doesn't feel safe, and doesn't respect my privacy. A man must have designed this. Please rectify this.
