It was a bit of a bummer, especially since all of my coworkers had plenty to take home. Dessert (chocolate gateau) was just okay. I wish the cake had been a bit richer, but I know that's hard to do when it's dairy-free. So, for his memorial, my hubs and I went to order two fresh orchid leis for his mom and his widow. It was easy as pie. One of the friendly staff members showed us all the different leis they had in their refrigerator. We chose the two we wanted and gave them the date we would pick up (they recommended the day before the memorial). We paid at the time of ordering. The day we picked up, I just gave them my name and they brought the leis out in plastic takeout boxes for me. I had my receipt just in case, but I didn't need it. The leis were beautiful. I decided to check out the first day of the store wide closing sale on 10/17/26. I was lucky to snag nearby street parking on NE 45th Street. No surprise that there was a lengthy line to pay for purchases and the store itself was packed full of people. All of us were like sardines trying to look at the various merchandise available for purchase. There was also a corner area that had some food to sample. There were also musicians that were seated at the front of the store singing and playing live music. I weaved around 2/3 of store's perimeter. I passed on the retail clothing, refrigerated lei, and food areas. It was simply too packed. I'm usually a strategic shopper and not fond of crowds or lines. Patience was definitely needed. I ended up several small quantities of assorted shortbread cookies, chocolates, ling hing mui dried plums, mango coconut lotion, and a kukui nut necklace with a honu design. I was amused that the gentleman behind me in line bought up most of all the bagged poi. But then, much cheaper to buy here versus an airline ticket to/from the Hawaiian islands. Sad to see yet another indie, family run business close in today's economic climate. Try to stop in earlier for best selection before their shop closes at the end of November.

The quality is decent, but they are a bit pricey. Each portion is the size of a half sandwich. Quality wise, I do prefer the sandwiches at the newly opened Otherside Market nearby, which are made to order. But a sandwich here would do in a pinch if I am looking for a quick bite.
