What a cute store jam packed full of stuff from the aloha islands. I loved checking out all the items here and there's an entire section dedicated to Hawaiian preserved plums and fruits, this was my faborite. Many of these items are similar to my own culture and with a Hawaiian twist. I bought some fun items here and this is a great place to buy creative gifts. Ill definitely come back when in Seattle! This is such a gem in Washington! There is a decent sized Hawaiian community in WA from what my husband has told me, so this store is a must visit for all your Hawaii needs. We decided to stop in for some leis for my step daughter's graduation. It is such a cute shop and the ambiance is so reminiscent of Hawaii where I lived for 8 yrs! I ended up getting a cute book for my daughter and a tshirt for myself. This shop had everything "Hawaii" I will definitely be returning every time I visit Washington! I go to school at UW and in the winter time it's kind of dark and gloomy. This store caught my eye and there was no traffic so I stepped inside. My oh my this is such a nice vibe!!! Immediately coming in I was greeted by the CUTEST golden retriever. There were 2 people working. One of the aunties came over to me and helped me find this Hawaii fruit tea that I was craving!!! She is the sweetest and also helped me pick out some candy. On a recent visit to Seattle (2 nights) I inadvertently discovered this gem! Great selection of merchandise. I bought 2 beautiful fresh leis at a great price. I called ahead and the lady who spoke with me was so nice and helpful. I was searching for florists on Apple Maps. Called two. The second recommended Hawaii General Store. I was attending a celebratory dinner for two friends of my sisters who had just received their PhD. They loved the leis! Uncomfortable is the word. The last place I should feel that way. Coffee is the reason I go there. They have a small selection of Red Lion coffee my favorite. I walked in went straight for the coffee. As I was determining if I wanted the more expensive one I am being asked several times do I need help. For me when I need help there is no one around to give help. I sincerely hope racial profiling was being enforced. Today that question cut my shopping short. read more

I bought 4 leis (2 each of 2 different styles). The website pictures look NOTHING like the purchased product. I was so disappointed as I picked them up on graduation day and had no alternative or time to replace or refund! The white tuberobe with red carnations- the carnations were extremely small, not even a full sized flower, looked like scraps from a table The green and purple orchid leis we just single strands that were incredibly few. I actually came here to pick up some leis for my son's graduation and left with some much more. They have delivery service for us down in the south side. My home away from home :'') Right outside of University District is this humble store with a super cute Golden named Ellie and two friendly aunties. It has all of the essential Hawaiian snacks and fresh flower lei (orchids, plumeria, ginger, AND haku lei). Yes, it's more expensive than it would be back home, but it *is* cheaper than a plane ticket. I thought that street parking in front of the store wasn't so bad, either. PRO TIPS: - fresh orchid leis are shipped to the store on Tuesdays - fresh plumeria and ginger lei are shipped to the store on Wednesdays - fresh haku are shipped to the store on Thursdays, but place a preorder by Tuesday. read more

Reasonable prices and nice flower lei selection. We ordered on-line and went to pick them up. Luckily we walked there to check because Yelp had a different opening time but it opened early. Perhaps it was their special hours for graduation season. The leis were nice and lasted in the fridge for a few more days after the event. We also got some candy leis which were cheaper and nicely made. We especially liked the one with chocolate macadamia nut pouches. read more

The Aloha spirit in this shop with the products and customer service is a five star plus. As soon as you enter the store a wonderful flowery smell permeates the senses and the staff greet you with a hello! They really are like the local Hawaiian general store with local Ono shrimp chips, Lins gummy bears, crack seed ling mui, wonton chips, Donna cookies, mochi mix and so much more! There are local t-shirts, dresses, little Hawaiian dolls, cutesy embroidered pillows, bumper stickers and other cute little gifts. The staff makes you feel like family offering samples of kololo while promoting local Hawaiian food businesses in the area. Note that prices are higher because this is a small business. Fresh leis flown in will cost more because of the shipping but that's okay as you have a piece of Hawaii. On a Saturday near Christmas we were able to pick up painted Hawaiian ornaments, local gift wrap and tags! Also, I did notice that there was a steady stream of customers that appeared to have a Hawaii connection. Most passersby won't realize there's a little food market in the back, full of Hawaiian treats. You pay a slight premium for, say, Hawaiian pancakes, but hell why not? A little slice of Hawaii in Wallingford, whowudathunk? Well this has been my go-spot for leis when graduation season hits, or for the guest of honor at a celebration gathering. They do sell discounted leis but I would only get those if you are giving it the same day. Other than that, go with the fresher ones if you are buying these ahead of time. Also, if you are planning to fly out same day when buying leis, make sure you bring a plastic bag with ziplocks to fill with ice after you get through airport security. This will help keep your lei fresh during your flight. My last visit here, the lady was kind to give me ziplocks after I purchased the lei. I really appreciate that she went above and beyond to ensure the longevity of the lei. In addition to leis, you will also find products from Hawaii, as well as party décor. I planned a Hawaii-themed bridal shower for a friend awhile ago so this place was a lifesaver for last min needs. read more

Hawaii General Store went above and beyond this weekend. I live in Virginia but my Aunt was in the hospital in Seattle. Hawaiian flowers have a special place in our family and I called to see if they could deliver to the hospital. Hawaii General Store delivered twice to Virginia Mason Hospital, each time bringing sweet smelling flowers in beautiful designs. It really brightened up the room and the family members who were visiting. The staff was extremely friendly and even called me back before business hours on Sunday.
