An aggressively "good" experience. Wish I could give 3.5 stars. The burgers and meals are kind of expensive, but not too crazy. They are pretty quick too. The highlight was for sure the fries. Came during Ramadan and they get busy around sunset understandably so. There's not much space inside to wait so it did feel a bit crowded. The staff encouraged us to order before we sat down so that did help move things along so there wasn't much of a wait for good once we did get seated. Everything on the menu is halal including beef bacon which is really neat. They've got some instagrammabale additions like the cheese injection option and the smoke gun (more for show and not for flavor). Overall prices here are higher as a burger on its own is $14-18 and it'll bump up to $19-24 for a meal which includes fries and soft drink. To be fair, the burgers are quite large. The sauces for the burgers are the real winners. Tried the fire fly sauce and the sweet chili sauce both of which were the highlights. The burgers themselves were good but the bun was way too thick and large making it really hard to take a full bite of everything. They do have gloves at each table which was nice because eating these burgers get messy. Fries were a let down - soggy, some bites too seasoned and others not seasoned at all. Milkshake was good and the Ferroro Roche flavor is not one I've been in Chicago before. This business has the foundation to do well but they need to sort out the work flow a bit better. I've been driving up and down Lincoln Ave for some time and seeing Firefly Burgers, and wanting to try it. So, I was excited when I finally went there recently. It's like no other burger place I've been to. First, the burgers are creative and delicious. While I was there, I tried the smokey, the backfire and the kamikaze. I liked them all, but my favorite of the three was the backfire. It's a double patty burger that a bit of spice. It has their firefly sauce and jalapeños. The spice level wasn't overwhelming, but you will know it's there. The kamikaze is double patty with a sweet chili sauce. The sweet chili sauce blends will the other flavors and toppings. Finally if you like bacon, then you'll love the smokey. It also had a nice slice of smoked gouda cheese. I liked it, but was my least favorite. Second, they also have some great sides. I got the cheese fries, mozzarella sticks and fried jalapeño bites. Of the sides I ordered, my favorite was the fired jalapeño bites. They were hot and crispy, and the filling was creamy and delicious. The spice level wasn't that high. If want something to melt your face off this is not for you. I decided to try this establishment after seeing a promotion that they were running on Doordash. It hurts me to write this review because the burger itself wasn't terrible. That said, it wasn't great either. I would have been equally satisfied with getting a burger from Wendy's. Very honestly. I had some issues with the order that they bagged. I ordered a Wallstreet Burger, fries, 3 sodas, and whatever portion of "backfire dip" they give for $1. They did not bag two of the sodas and did not bag my dip. Ironically enough, them not bagging these items equated to just about the amount of money that I got as a discount. I'm not sure if I should see this as an ethics issue or a simple mistake, but I'll let Doordash decide that. In regards to the food, charging $19 for the burger seems like a stretch. It does not stand up to other burgers that you can get in the area for that price point. Paying $19 for a burger in Chicago at least gets you a burger that looks like the picture that they are using to advertise it. There was sauce all over the bottom of the burger, and the patty was burnt and did not cover the entirety of the bun. My fries were also heavily seasoned and soggy. Even taking the discount out of the equation, $30 could have gotten me a much better meal than an okay burger, soggy fries, a drink, and a few ketchup packets. Again, I could've spent a fraction of that cost and felt satisfied. The cost just did not match the quality here. read more

But they serve their drinks in plastic cups no matter what it is (even shakes). And they are reallyyyy cramped and tiny. They don't box your food for you either (to go I mean). The fries had some type of bbq powder on them, I enjoyed them as well. You can go in and order to go at the stand or go sit down and they come take your order. Parking in Lincoln is easy depending on time of day. At the tables they even have gloves for your convenience which I like. Don't know why more places don't do that like other countries do. The food was really good here! The Fries were probably our favorite but be prepared for a LOT of seasoning. Don't be afraid to use the gloves with your burgers as you will probably need them! Only con is that our fries came out first and we sat there with no sauces, no drinks, no utensils, napkins etc. Just containers of French fries until we waived our server down for our drinks. I thought initially the prices were too expensive but what for you get it Is well worth it. Seating arrangement is tight and lines are long (I also went on a Sunday afternoon). Let me start by saying that if you care about the food and not the service than this is a place for you to try. The food is great but this restaurant's downfall is hands down the service and ambiance. This restaurant is very small - they have maybe 8 tables along the walls with a narrow walkway where only one person can walk through. This place was very busy that not only was there a line in the restaurant to order but also people waiting in a line outside (while it is cold). Everyone is trying to cram in to avoid the cold Chicago winds. The staff can't do anything about that but the issue here was that there were open tables for people to sit down and wait for their food and the staff wouldn't let customers sit down until their food was ready. So there were 2 empty tables that seated 4 people empty at any time and about 15 people standing, waiting. This quickly creates a lot of tension between customers that are pretty much breathing on each other. When you stand around you have a lot of time to observe and it was concerning to see that one of the servers was standing around the heat lamps where all the prepared food was and vaping straight onto the food. We ordered our food and finally were seated when our food was ready. It took about 45 minutes to put our order in and get seated (this could definitely have been less had they used the open tables) Despite putting in our food/sides/drinks order in, we were still asked to confirm what we had ordered because there was a lot of disorganization. We were even mistakenly served a part of our order twice (which I mean I can't complain about but still it didn't help the already chaotic situation) Food we ate: Cheeseburger (4.5/5): the burgers are well made and worth the wait but the waiting situation I don't think is worth the reward French fries (2/5): the flavor was kinda there and kind of wasn't, they were a bit soggy Backfire Burger w/ Cheese Injection & Smoke Gun: 4.8/5 The cheese injection and smoke gun are such a great addition/experience to an already great burger. Curly Fries 3/5: better than the French fries as they are crunchier but they still lack consistency in crunchiness Overall cleanliness was just not there. Rags need to be properly sanitized/stored/used and I could tell from how they were being used that they were not cleaning the tables, they were just rubbing the mess around from table to table. The burgers are delicious! The patty is big and juicy, and the sauce is great too! We got the backfire & got it "smoked" and cheese injected, which was so fun! The smoked gave it a nice bbq/just charred Smokey flavor, and was fun to watch as well. The cheese injection was literally a large syringe full of cheese into the burger that already had cheese in it - definitely not for the lactose intolerant! Giving it 4 stars because the bun was just ok- I think a little too thick, I like a softer thinner bun. We also got the fries which were crunchy and crispy and so good! They also allow well behaved dogs which was nice (I called ahead to make sure), since I always like bringing my dog places if I can. Survival of the human species is at stake. You know what they are. Those damn QR codes. "No" we don't have a menu I was told. Just scan the QR code. WTF?!? "Don't you have a phone?" Yes. I have a phone. It is at home, plugged into the wall. Where proper phones belong. That was that. No paper menus. Not even an electronic menu displayed on one of the large monitors on the wall. Food places are all turning into that now. I was ready to leave and go to the taco joint next door. They have a HUGE menu board. Large letters, brightly lit, that I can read without glasses. I did reach into my pocket and found something that looked like a small tablet computer. After fussing with it, I actually got it to read the damn thing. Kids these days with their technology. After all that nonsense I opted for just a standard, basic cheezeborger. Was what I really wanted anyway. Fortunately (for them), it was one of the best burgers I have had. At the very top of the list in Chicago. The place should get traction. Worth the QR aggravation and wait, meal prep does take a while. Really friendly staff. They offer a big glass of ice water while waiting. Apparently the place is new (ca. July 2022) and there were behind-the-counter guys coming out front schmoozing with some customers who in retrospect may have been the managers/owners. It is great to see this section of Lincoln having some revitalization, as there are some of us old enough to remember when it was lined with folk clubs and nightlife. I had the kamikaze burger myself and I thought the sauce was unique and a nice blend of an asian-like sauce and and a classic burger. The fries were seasoned with a little bit if paprika or some type of pepper which added a nice little kick of heat.
