Fantastic customer service! Delicious food, all around a lovely experience and atmosphere. Stunning interior! Grand Opening is Tuesday May, 5th do yourself a favor and check them out. The Chicken Caprese and Key Lime Pie are some of our favorites. They have an extensive drink menu as well.

Vegetable Asiago Gnocchi

We got the meatballs, Asiago gnocchi (added chicken) and tiramisu. Everything tasted exquisite and the service couldn't have been better. From the bussers, bartenders, server, hosts and management, everyone went out of their way to check in with intentionality and kindness. The space is also really beautiful. So excited this spot is here, we will be back!

I didn't know they are apart of the sister chain of Gia Mia and Ella's, it makes sense because the menu is very similar.

We finally made it to Mandrake! It was our first time visiting since opening, and it was better…read morethan our expectation. The decor was modern yet appropriately fit to the name (you'd see roots decor on the ceiling). Our wait staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the summer menu. While the menu didn't indicate Gluten Free or Friendly, our wait staff explained the items that can be readily made Gluten Friendly. We opted for the following: - Strawberry Burrata (the crostini was on the side for me): creaminess of burrata, strawberry sauce, and freeze dried strawberry with a hint of red peppercorn were a delightful starter. It's almost a dessert! - Duck Breast (over a bed of crisped coconut rice): the duck breast was perfectly cooked - the meat was tender and the skin was crispy. - Rack of Lamb (served with tostones): I'm not usually a fan of lamb, but this was this lamb was prepared in a way that it was not gamy at all! The tostones and chimichurri sauce paired well with the lamb. - Seasonal sorbet (three flavors over crumbles of macadamia nuts and plantain chips): with flavors like prickly pear, mango, and guava, what's not to like? The sorbets were elevated with sauces on each flavor. We definitely will be back another time. Hopefully it would be on a sunny day so we can experience the outdoor seating area which also looks very inviting.

I went to dinner at Mandrake with another couple on Saturday, November 2nd. We had dinner…read morereservations for seven p.m. and arrived ten minutes early. When we arrived at the front desk, the hostess looked at us and walked away. A waiter walked over, took our name, and told us it would be a few minutes before we could be seated. Rater then stayed waiting, standing up in the lobby. We decided to sit outside in the patio area (even though it was cold and the outside heaters were not working.) After approximately fifteen minutes of waiting outside, we stood in the lobby. Forty-five minutes after we arrived, our table was finally ready. We were never offered water, much less a cocktail, to compensate for the 45-minute wait. Once seated, we waited fifteen minutes for our waiter to show up and order our drink. By then, I was ready to leave and go somewhere else, but our wives had talked us out of that idea. While the food we finally ordered was good, the wait and lack of communication between the staff and the customers was so lacking that I will never return.

First of all, I could not make reservations because apparently they don't take it for less parties…read moreof four people. So we came here on a random Friday night to test our luck to get a table at 7 o'clock for two people. We got lucky and got to sit inside because that's where we wanted to sit although they do have sidewalk or outdoor seating as well. I thought sitting inside would be cooler, but I was wrong as all the doors and windows were open and I don't believe the AC was on at all. Well, the menu is pretty extensive. I will say that a vegetarian could definitely eat here as well as anyone else. This is our first visit here and as you can tell from the photos ordered quite a bit of food. And typical top of style the portions are pretty small, but they are meant to be shared. It was actually too much food for two people who were already hungry. Some of the standouts were definitely the meatballs and the salad salads. The jamon iberico was absolutely incredible. Not pictured was the picture of sangria we ordered. We got the rosé and to be quite honest with all of the heat. It actually watered down way too quickly. And it also came in a plastic picture, which was a bit of a turn off. The shrimp with garlic was good, but the garlic was hard to taste because it was also covered or doused in a lot of tomato base or tomato sauce. I was really looking forward to a very clear buttery or olive oil sauce that was saturated with garlic. The mushrooms were OK as well, but again too much tomato in this dish that I'm not used to. The potatoes were also very tasty and well seasoned, and the sauce on it was just right. I think this is a good option for people who want top us in the suburbs however, I will say that I hope they do some tweaking to the recipes as well so that they have something that truly makes them stand out and unique.

My party of 4 celebrated a few birthdays (including me!). Originally our reservations was at…read moreanother tapas place, but unbeknownst to us the first place we chose closed for the night for a staff function. Having been to COA before, my brother and I suggested it which worked out even better than expected! First the service was top notch from beginning to end. Our server was Ana, who was kind, super attentive, and made some excellent recommendations that was delicious. The food is exquisite in and of itself. We ordered several hot tapas in addition to a mixed paella and three skirt steak tacos. A couple of the tapas only had three servings and seeing as how we had 4 in the party, she upped the amount to 4. Now that's called dedication. During the course of the night, one of the member's of my party had a slight accident. Well management (Carlos and Kim) was on top of it from the get go and GRACIOUSLY took care of us throughout the night, making sure our service was OK. Hospitality like this is rare because you don't see many members of management walking table to table to make sure their guests are having a good experience. And Carlos did that throughout the night. Come for the food, stay for the experience. You won't be disappointed!

We flew into Chicago from Houston, and our connecting flight to South Bend, Indiana was canceled,…read moreso we found ourselves stuck in Chicago for the day. When life gives you lemons (or a massive snowstorm)... My son and I immensely enjoyed our dinner at Coa, and coming from Houston, our bar is high. The menu is unique, fun, and diverse. With the blizzard outside, not many folks were there, so we sat at the bar. Anthony and Meg warmed the place up with their hospitality and exceptional service. There was also a third gentleman working the bar that brought five star service. I apologize for not remembering his name. I always notice how people interact with one another, and I noticed that all of the staff is working as a team, and positive and professional towards one another. A sign of great people with solid training. Our food was delicious. We started with the lobster empanadas and guacamole. My son had the tacos and I had the gamba shrimp. We highly recommend them all. I want to try the paella next time. I recommend the Toronja Martini, different and delicious. Thank you to Coa for making our unexpected day in Chicago a great experience.

Miskatonic is the best reason to go to Darien, but you should also check out this Naperville location and drink up. Has quite a few beers on tap and a good variety of different stuff to choose from. There's also a pretty big food menu of salads and sausages. Getting here was kind of fun but it was annoying. It's hard to find parking around this brewery especially in evenings. There's the parking garage that you'll have to walk from. Know The Lantern is almost across the street and you'll be close. This is in the middle of a row of restaurants. Once inside we were able to get a table, but found a better location to get drinks and food ordered at the bar. The beer I got was the Vox. It's $7 for a pint. This is a pilsner that's real smooth. She got the Midnight Rider, a sour ale. The other beer we got was the West Coast Wizard, an IPA. All were good. They have a pretty big food menu. It's about $16 for a sausage entree. You can substitute a veggie sausage. A few flavors to choose from, but most of these come with bacon. The Nurnberger Bratwurst is topped with mustard and sauerkraut. Makes sense getting that one and substituting it with the veggie sausage of course. They also often have live music. Hearing great things about it and these are true apparently. It's closed Mondays. There's tons of beers as well as sausages that can be made for vegetarians.
