Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. Starting with the service, all of the staff are great folks, my favorite being Bree as she is not only very pretty she is also a great hostess. She is always polite and checks on all of her guests frequently to make sure they are having a great meal and service, and ALWAYS smiling and polite. The dining area is always clean and well stocked. Foodwise it's hard to decide what to eat. I usually get the chicken sandwich but the pork is good and the brisket is a big favorite. All of the sides are good especially the fried okra. I live very close to the 2 other "popular" BBQ places in town and this one is worth the drive to eat. In my opinion the best BBQ in town.

What a great find!! Their sign off of I75 claims "I like pig butts" which peaked our curiosity. Restaurant is small, privately owned, indoor or outdoor seating, and great service. The menu is good size with what you would expect from a BBQ restaurant. The brisket was sublime. Juicy, tender, and great crust. The mac and cheese was clearly homemade and the baked beans had a ton of flavor. Get sweet tea by the glass or gallon. Beer and wine served and on the weekends they have endless mimosa's. Get there early because when they sell out, they close. Will definitely be back.

We were driving home from Ellijay apple orchards and stopping at Calhoun for gas to get to Gainesville when the hunger pangs hit us. It was almost 6pm and we've got a long way to go. Ah look at that... Fire it Up BBQ. Let's stop in here. That was a great call as we entered a not very busy restaurant. The young lady at the front order counter was happy to help us. Half rack with Beans and Greens for me. Full pound Sampler for the table and for sides let's have Brunswick Stew and Mac&Cheese. We also added a solo salad with Blue Cheese dressing. For after bbq munching we had apple and peach turnovers. It took just a couple minutes for every order to be carried from the kitchen to our table. It was expertly presented on aluminum trays and napkins are on a roll at the end of the table. A drinking fountain of sodas and water is nearby. Wow is a good exclamation for the fall off the bone ribs and after having sampled each of the pulled pork, chicken, smoked wings and the Brisket with burnt ends. Texas toast with the stew was great and all the sides especially the beans were a winner. We had a great and pretty fast BBQ feast at Fire it Up BBQ. It was all good Georgia country home cooking BBQ.

A few years ago, a friend of ours recommended this place. We'd often pass by it on the interstate and talk about how we'd try it one day. Recently, we finally got the chance. We pulled into the nearly empty parking lot and wondered if they were closed, but they were open. We visited on a weekday afternoon, so it was understandable that business was a bit slow. When we walked in, there was no greeting or "may I help you" from the cashier--just a blank stare. I took the initiative to say "hi" and place our order. Based on our friend's recommendation, we went for the BBQ Spud with pulled pork. My son ordered smoked wings with fries, and my daughter chose chicken tenders with fries and mac n' cheese. The restaurant itself was clean and orderly. The food came out fairly quickly, and the BBQ Spuds were absolutely delicious! The wings, tenders, and fries were fresh and tasty as well. However, there were a couple of issues. My daughter's mac n' cheese looked dry and lacked any cheese. She was hesitant to try it, so I gave it a go myself. Honestly, it wasn't mac n' cheese--it was just macaroni in oil. No cheese, no flavor, just bland. We also ordered dessert on the way out--two fried apple pies and two banana puddings. The fried apple pie was a bit of a letdown. The crust had a burnt taste, and the apples weren't sweet or tart, but that's just my personal preference. On the other hand, the banana pudding was fantastic! Overall, the service was just okay. The cashier could have been a bit warmer, but the gentleman who brought us our food was very friendly. Even though I live 45 minutes away, I think the food alone is worth the drive.

Came in with the family and a friends family on a Saturday for lunch. Place is tucked away behind a gas station and on this rainy day wasn't very busy, with just a few togo orders and 2 other tables there during our entire visit. As far as off the interstate restaurants go this place is def above average. The menu options are quite varied and plentiful. Appreciated the 5 diff house made sauces also. With regards to the food, pretty good, but honestly nothing stood out in an incredibly memorable way. Friends both for sandwiches, we got a sampler for the kids to split and another sampler for myself. Nothing was bad, the portion was solid for the sampler I got with pork, ribs, brisket and jalapeño sausage, but nothing stood out either. Honestly the stew was the most surprisingly good thing I had. Lastly, my wife didn't eat at all bc the girl taking our order had no knowledge and no interest in exploring what could possibly be a gluten free item on the menu. Seriously, 0 Fs given. We've been at places all over serving diff foods, and dozens of bbq places and have never met anyone so indifferent towards a food allergy. Quite frankly it's just lazy and disappointing.

I stopped here as I rolled into town after a long day of travel. The place was empty but smelled great and the service was friendly. I order the 3/4 combo with smoked wings, ribs and chopped brisket with sides of collard greens and potato salad. I was excited to dig in when I got to my hotel but immediately lost my appetite after being served chicken wings with feathers still attached. I ended up tossing most of the food because I was so grossed out.

There may be a better BBQ place up I-75 North of Atlanta but I do not who it is. I have not gone thru the whole menu yet but so far everything has been good to excellent. We make it a point to stop there whenever we are in the area. read more

Great BBQ lunch stop! The brisket platter was excellent with a large amount of brisket and generous portions of sides. Staff was very friendly. The restaurant was clean. Many varieties of BBQ sauce that were all good. I will be stopping again the next time I'm passing through town! read more

We will come back, just for the Gold Rush sauce. We are 60 somethings from Iowa, searching for good local not-a-chain BBQ when we travel I 75 through Georgia. Tasty food. Nice and clean. My grandfather brought home tons of BBQ from this place. I'm usually very picky about my pulled pork and I ate the entire pound of pulled pork own my own over a two day period. It was delicious! We came back a few days later with the rest of the family and everyone fell in love. The food is so delicious. They get you through the line quickly and they keep the establishment very clean. Staff is also very nice and helpful for the first time goers.I will make sure to always refer to a of people to fire it up BBQ. read more

Went here the other day and had dinner. They were out of ribs but it was a little late. So the wife and I had chip pork, brisket, chicken and sausage. We had potato salad,mac n cheese. I had collards and corn. We Both had Texas toast. The meat was good but the sides were just ok. I will still go and get my bbq fix. This place is a lot better than other bbq places in Cartesville. read more

I stopped in with my family on our way to do some north Georgia sightseeing. The menu is easy to navigate and the staff is helpful and friendly. My wife ordered the chicken fingers. My kids and I all ordered pulled pork sandwiches. The sandwiches are e prepared for you as you wait. The chicken fingers arrive a few minutes later. My first imppression of the pulled pork was that it was a tad dry and the bun was cold. The Brunswick stew was very good. The French fries were undercooked. My wife loved the chicken fingers and insisted that I try them. They were very good. A decent place that could be better with a few small details fixed. read more

Don't know why it took us so long to try this place but I'm glad we finally did. They just pulled out a new still wrapped brisket when we stepped up to order. Good brisket is one of my weaknesses and this brisket is really good. No need for a knife it is perfectly cooked pull apart tender. Not over seasoned, just great beef flavor. Can't wait to go back and try more! read more

This used to be my go to place for lunch. I'd typically get the Working Man special. The portions were so generous that there would be enough meat for 2 sandwiches. Not anymore. Not only have they raised prices but they've shrunk portions. Even the fries are no longer fresh cut but rather they are frozen. I doubt I will ever go back there again. read more

Flew into Atlanta from Vegas and had to drive to Chattanooga and found this place on the way. Food was incredible! Had the chicken with the gold rush bbq sauce, baked beans and fried okra. EVERYTIME I pass through I will stop great food and to top it off...friendly service. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect. I've not heard of this place before and don't live in the area. I ordered the brisket plate, slaw, & bbq beans. The brisket was great and the slaw and beans right in line. I ordered the hot and mild sauces with the food expecting mediocre hot sauce. It was very spicy and complimented the brisket. Used to be the BEST place for smoked meats, BBQ and southern sides-unfortunately all aspects of the business have gone downhill since the family sold to a new owner. Food quality and service are severely lacking and the new management doesn't seem to mind-clearly a focus on making money instead of the former focus on good food and friendly people. Would not recommend until some major changes are made. read more

Just when you don't want to see fancy chandeliers and garçons around and you know the real deliciousness doesn't need to be fancy neither. Simple yet extremely satisfying. They used to cater to my office in Calhoun almost weekly and had a good pulled pork sandwich and mac and cheese for a fair price. I got to try the actual sit down restaurant several months after eating this for the first time and it was a nice upgrade over the catered versions I'd been eating. Wish I would have taken photos of our food in the restaurant but this is an example of the serving sizes. My husband got a 2 meat plate which included 1.5 slices of ice cold turkey & 1/2 cold sausage, he had to ask for his sides because the girl behind the counter threw the tray of meat up on the counter. I got the fry nachos which were cold and only came with cheese dip, chicken, & bbq sauce. My daughter got the stuffed baked potato which was so cold the cheese didn't even melt a little bit and the bbq pork was just as cold. Needless to say all the great reviews about this place are not legit! We went in at 6:30 on a Saturday night and only 1 table was filled, guess that should have been our first sign to turn around. Sucks that we spent almost $50 on food that was horrible. And to make matters worse...the staff is about unfriendly as they come, more concerned about playing on their phones then helping customers. WE WILL NEVER RETURN! read more

Ribs were tender fall off the bone and nicely smoked. Sauces were good. Sides were average. They don't make the mistake of letting the meats get dried out. Prices were decent as well. A nice range between $5-6 for a sandwich to $12-13 for a plate of meat with 2 sides. read more

Fire It Up BBQ Grill is a Southern Style BBQ restaurant, catering & food truck company founded by Bill Langford. Bill grew up on the family farm and in the kitchen watching his grandmother and mom cook Southern style which he has transferred to all his recipes. After traveling the BBQ competition circuit in years past, Bill begin cooking fresh from scratch meals for family and friends and now for you. Within the past year the Fire It Up team has grown with the addition of partner, Terry Billings. Terry brings his experience as a previous owner and manager of Mango's Restaurant. The Fire It Up journey has come full circle with the latest move of the opening of a restaurant at the old Fruit Jar Café location in Cartersville, Ga. Meet the Business Owner: Bill L.

Growing up on a family farm in Vienna, Georgia, Bill developed a passion for Southern cuisine at an early age. With a particular interest in grill techniques, he began cultivating his pit-master skills to compete on the barbecue circuit. After winning multiple state events, his team was invited to participate in the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest held at Memphis in May, an international event, for 3 consecutive years. Although the team eventually disbanded, Bill continued to serve mouth-watering meals to family and friends as well as his local church. Years later, with the wholehearted support of his loving wife, Fire It Up was born, first as a food truck and now as a fully fledged restaurant.

The pizza is made fresh and the crust is good, but make sure you get the crust you want; mine came with some kind of cheese crust which is ok but probably better with different toppings. Overall I was happy with the service and atmosphere, and I will not say the food was bad, it just wasn't my style of pizza, I'm more of a New York style pizza guy (New Haven crust and topping to be precise) so I hope this review won't discourage people from going there. For the price, service and atmosphere this is a cool place to go to, and many other people including my family and friends absolutely love the pizza. (The iced tea is southern style and excellent!) Will return and definitely recommend.

This is hands down the best BBQ in north Georgia! Everything I've had here is incredible. Even their brisket is juicy and not overly sour like usual brisket. The only problem you'll have is if they run out of something that day. So get there as soon as you can! read more
