Not sure why this place only has a 3.5 rating. Those of you rating below 4 don't have any taste buds or know good BBQ. I'm from Memphis and know good BBQ, this place is excellent. The ribs are ST Louis style and are excellent. The Pulled pork outstanding, the collards and green beans were well seasoned and were also outstanding. Thank God for another City Barbecue other than Woodstock. The new manager there has lost me as a customer- another story for another time.... Came into the Acworth restaurant and first thing I saw was a 100 A health score. Love that. Counter was neat and clean and the young person on the line greeted me from the line. That was sweet. The young person who cashiered was friendly and efficient. Never asked if I was eating in or taking but hey, perfection is overrated right? So I was packed to go but I was indeed eating in. I get it that way anyway because I can never finish all of my food. I got the two meat platter with an extra side and a drink for 23 bucks plus tip. So ribs, brisket. Potato salad, greens and Mac and cheese w Texas toast. Dining room- spotless. Bathroom- spotless I was checked on by a super nice young person named Ian while I ate. Really nice young human. After eating another youngin came over to ask for a Google review. Nope- I'm a Yelper. lol. I need to mention- the sweet tea and lemonade here make thee perfect Arnold Palmer. City Barbecue is a fairly new addition to the Acworth food scene and is a fast-casual bbq spot slinging all the classic meat forward dishes, southern sides and tasty desserts. The space is in good shape, features a nice dining room with a mix of seating plus a covered patio. There is a drink/pickle/sauce station that has all the goods once you get your food from the front counter. I went with a two meat plate featuring sliced brisket and sausage sided with macaroni & cheese and their house corn pudding, and of course a toasted slice of Texas toast. For the positives, the sides were tasty. The macaroni & cheese was good, cheesy and had the right amount of bite. Speaking of bite, the corn pudding was my favorite bite of the meal. It was delish! While the meats were not bad, they were mediocre at best. The brisket was a tad dry and the sausage, while it had a good snap, was just okay. I was a bit sad that they don't have a white sauce available. The other house sauces were decent, definitely needed with the brisket. Outside of the food, the sweet tea was excellent! Classic southern sweet tea done right. Service was okay. Not bad, but also not super friendly. It was my first time there, so I asked for recommendations and was met with a "not sure what you like, but most everything is good". I mean, that is good to know, but not exactly what I was after. Time from order to name call was just a few minutes, so nothing crazy with wait time. The only other issue was relating to my buddies order, which had non-salted fries per request. While he was watching the kitchen, he noticed the cook salt the fries and then whisper "no one will know". To which another kitchen staff pushed back and made him drop new fries. My buddy is just watching his sodium, so it would not have been the end of the world, but definitely in poor taste for that cook. Overall, an okay experience. I went through the drive-thru this afternoon. There was no one in front of me or behind me. It was a single order of brisket. I was asked to park while they prepared my food. I waited over 15 minutes. When the employee brought out my food, I saw the banana pudding was missing. She said it was their fault (really?). I got the food home. It was all cold. The brisket (which I ordered lean) had over 1/4 inch of fat that needed to be trimmed off from each piece. I like their food, but I ended up throwing away a massive amount of fat. We went on the pre-opening "free dinner" night a week or two back. It was packed & we had to wait 2 or 3 minutes for a table to open after ordering. Not bad since it was packed. Friendly workers circulated giving out rib & dessert samples but suspect that was just for this night! It's a fast food style layout. Bright & open; nothing fancy. Food was good & plentiful - at least on that test run. Pulled pork tasty. I'm not a big sauce guy but they have a number to pick from. Corn casserole was fair to good. At least it's a different sort of choice. Wife rated Mac & cheese not up to Jim 'n Nicks standards but certainly edible. Cole slaw was pretty good. It was especially good being free. Haha. I had an amazing time at City BBQ, my guy Ian was able to take care of me and make me feel right at home and the food was amazing!!!

The food is always great and my favorite are the smoke wings and banana pudding. Service is usually fast as you can expect for BBq.

Take out and eat in both were great. "Not a sloppy Joe" sandwich was so good. Best green beans around. Pork and brisket great too

Salty nachos with minimal meat. Literally a vege plate. Even the salad had salty meat.

I got the pit master nachos and I feel like they went light on the meat and the taste of the meat was not very good. The chips, queso and the other stuff on it tasted fine. I personally would not recommend that. Probably not my smartest of decisions getting that a bbq restaurant. Now my daughter got the turkey and it was delicious. Went tonight for takeout which I never do at BBQ joints. I ordered a brisket sandwich, fries and coleslaw. All were excellent. The drive thru was busy but moved along satisfactorily. The brisket was smoked perfectly. Nice and tender, excellent flavor. No fat!! I used their "fire" red sauce which I really liked. Fries were nice and crispy and the coleslaw was fresh and creamy. Overall a very good drive thru experience. I'll try ordering inside and eat in the dining room soon. Given it's a newly opened location, I was surprised just own good it is. read more

I was ready to dislike City Barbeque. For one, it just opened. New restaurants usually take a while to hit their stride, and going right away is often a gamble. Second, it's always packed when I drive by. Sometimes, that's a good sign--sometimes, it just means cheap food and chaos. Third, I'm not a huge BBQ fan. I come from a place where BBQ means ribs and brisket, not pulled pork. I rarely enjoy pulled pork and never order it when I have other options. So imagine my surprise when my wife, son, and I tried it and absolutely loved it. I ordered the brisket chili, which was fantastic. I also tried the "Spicy Smokestack"--a spicy sausage on a hot dog bun topped with coleslaw and pulled pork. I don't even know how to describe it, but it was incredible. And, shockingly, I actually liked the pulled pork. The fried okra was another surprise. I expected the usual freezer-section nuggets, but these seemed freshly made, and they were excellent. My wife had "Lola's Pulled Pork Sandwich." I didn't try it because, well, pulled pork isn't my thing. But she kept saying, "Wow, this is so good." Since she's from the Deep South and knows her BBQ, I trust her judgment. She also had baked beans and mac and cheese--both delicious. My son, who knows the difference between "meh" and "spectacular," ordered the "Dirty Bird"--a fried chicken sandwich with honey glaze, bacon, and more. He devoured it in two minutes flat and declared, "This may be the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten." I wouldn't know. It disappeared before I got a bite. Beyond the food, the service stood out. Despite the crowd, the line moved quickly, and our food arrived fast. The cashier gave great recommendations, and when we realized a side was missing, they fixed it immediately. Then, when my wife casually mentioned that the mac & cheese looked good, a staff member handed her one--on the house. This was our first visit, so I can't say if City Barbeque in Acworth is always this good. But first impressions matter, and ours was fantastic. We'll definitely be back soon. read more

I was excited to try this new bbq spot in my hometown, the service was nothing better than McDonald's, the food they serve is super dry, the bbq at this location is probably the worst bbq I have ever had. Me and my wife went in to grab lunch we were in and out within 20 minutes not because we ate the food fast because the food was so bad I threw it all away, probably the biggest disappointment I have ever had the building itself isn't bad there is enough room and lighting in the place. I was skeptical about trying this new place, so I read the Yelp reviews and one stuck out to me, so I decided to try what this man's wife ordered...Lola's Pulled Pork Sandwich, with sides I liked...baked beans w/brisket and collard greens. Pulled pork was some of the worst I've ever had. It was not pulled very well at all and way too dry even though not enough fat was removed during pulling. I can't remember ever leaving pulled pork on my plate, but I only ate about half of it. Got a combo plate with three St. Louis ribs and they were super dry and tasteless. I tried two sauces their original and a sweet sauce couldn't tell the difference and neither one of them was good. Both were very thick.
