Just traveling through and stopped here for a pizza dinner. The hostess gave us the option of rooftop but we selected downstairs since it was raining. Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress KaShonda made what might have been a three star experience easily a four star. The menu warns that the Chicago style can take 45-75 minutes so we were quick to order it before appetizers. The food was tasty. Ordering two pizza styles is a challenge and our Margherita NY style originally came out over cooked. (Probably waiting on our other pizza to finish). KaShonda was apologetic and was quick to make the situation right. When a new pizza came out it was fantastic. I would return when back in the area. read more

Sunday evening (Father's Day) service was great, but the Kitchen was SO EXTREMELY SLOW. it took over 30 minutes for the first entree, an additional 45 minutes for the second (pizza) to arrive, and another 25 minutes for the final entree..? A large part of choosing to dine here was their Gluten-free menu, which was very tasty...but as a family, we'd like to dine together. I'm understanding, but several other tables that arrived after we ordered entrees were eating before two pizzas could be baked?!? Ridiculous. Will honestly not go out of my way to dine here again. I've been here a couple times over the past few years and have never had a "great" meal. Yesterday, I thought I'd give it one more try and I honestly can't think of one good thing to say about it. Its important to note that the place was not even half full at 1pm on a Sunday. The service was extremely slow and we had to ask for everything- refills on our waters, silverware, salt and pepper, ketchup, etc. Four of us had meals that came with french fries and when we asked for ketchup- we were brought one single serve cup of ketchup, and by the time they brought us more, we were almost done eating. I can't speak for the rest of my party, but my burger was almost inedible. It was like a hockey puck- overcooked, dry, and tasteless. I didn't even finish it and I'm a fatass that always cleans his plate. One thing I had in the past that we enjoyed was the Limoncello cake- so we decided to get two slices for the table to share. It took quite a while to get the cake to the table and we understood why when we cut into it. It was almost completely frozen in the middle. We mentioned this to the server and he apologized as he handed us the bill. I felt he could've at least removed the cake from the tab. This place tries to give off some type of fancy or trendy vibe and they are not even close. There are several other places within walking distance that are MUCH BETTER. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had. When we arrived, we were told there would be a one and a half hour wait. While that is obviously a long wait, we understood that it was a Friday night and were willing to be patient. Unfortunately, the problems went far beyond the wait time. The TOAST app indicated that we had already been seated, despite the fact that we had never received a text, notification, or any instruction to go to our table or return to the host stand. When we went to check on our status, we watched multiple parties bypass the long wait and get seated and not even check in with the host and be served. Including parties of two who arrived after us and were seated before us. When we were finally seated, there were multiple dirty tables and several completely empty tables throughout the restaurant. So naturally, the question is: Why are customers being told they have to wait an hour and a half when there are clearly tables sitting empty? There were also multiple employees standing around while one guy was absolutely working his butt off. After finally being seated, we waited another 45 MINUTES for one single pizza. And somehow, basic table service was still too much to ask for. We received no silverware, no napkins, no refills, and no basic table service When we finally asked for napkins, we were given a small amount of cocktail napkins instead of the proper table napkins. A long wait on a Friday night? Understandable. A long wait with poor communication, inconsistent seating, empty tables, employees standing around, another 45-minute wait for one pizza? Completely unacceptable. This wasn't simply a restaurant being busy. This was poor management, poor communication, and poor customer service. We were patient and understanding throughout the entire experience, and unfortunately, that courtesy was not returned. I highly do not recommend this place based on our experience. read more

Negative, The hostess was sitting me at a table on rooftop after it had rained in the uncovered seats that the table and chairs were covered with water (they're actually squeegeeing them as we speak. The drink glasses were rarely filled - we were there almost two hours - entrees and desserts. The server took one dessert order without asking the rest of the party, and left to get the one dessert. When we finally placed the rest of the dessert orders - they were delivered one at a time - and not quickly. I've had dinner here twice, both times in a group of 6+. The service both times was great. The servers were polite, personable, helpful, and attentive. The cocktails were flavorful, the beers and ciders were cold. The appetizers were delicious and a good deviation from the standard options at other restaurants in town. I ordered deep dish pizza this time. Just a note, try to order early if you know you're going to get deep dish because it does take longer. My pizza came out when the others were mostly done with their meal, but I knew that would be the case and didn't mind at all. The deep dish is like two different meals; the pizza portion, and then the crust, which is like a delicious, buttery, cheesy breadstick. The interior of the restaurant is decorated well, a nice ambiance, however there is no decor that absorbs sound. Often during the meal, I missed the conversation of our dining companions just across the table from us. They would benefit from either paintings or curtains that would absorb some of the sound so it didn't echo so loudly. The price of the meals is on the higher end for Cookeville, but we will definitely be back as it's a good change of pace. read more

I had the filet with asparagus and mac and cheese. The meal and service was excellent! The steak was a perfect medium rare, the asparagus was perfectly cooked, the only thing lacking was the Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese not only needed salt but was served barley warm, but once salt was applied, the flavor was fantastic, rich and creamy. We chose Fire and Vine expecting a casually upscale dining experience. What we got instead was an hour and forty-five minute display of disorganization, favoritism, and unprofessionalism, and frankly, a management team that should be ashamed of how they operate. We were a table of 6 adults and 2 children. A bit of a wait to be seated--fine, expected. But what wasn't expected was watching a nearby table celebrating a 21st birthday (several of whom appeared to be off-duty employees) walking freely in and out of the kitchen, laughing and joking with the staff while other paying customers sat waiting. Let's start with this: I have a severe food allergy to red meat and dairy. My options were already limited, but when I asked to substitute the fries (which come with the dish but I can't eat), I was told by the manager it would be an upcharge--even though I wasn't asking for anything extra, just a safe alternative. Mind you, I've been to this location before and never been charged. Apparently, that courtesy vanished with whoever was managing tonight. I chose to skip the side altogether just to avoid the risk. Around 30 minutes in--shortly after my granddaughter's food arrived (thankfully)--our server had to come out and inform my son that the steak for his Philly cheesesteak was out of stock. Just gone. No heads-up before ordering, no immediate notification--just a casual "by the way" half an hour later. How does a kitchen run out of the main ingredient for one of its staple sandwiches and wait that long to say anything? When the rest of the meals finally did start arriving, they weren't even brought out by our server Isiah, who had been nothing but professional all evening. Instead, the food was dropped by a kitchen employee, and even then--only five of the six entrées showed up. My husband's entire dinner was missing. Half our table was nearly finished eating before anyone realized. My daughter-in-law brought it to Isiah's attention (again--not his fault in the slightest), and he handled the situation with grace and sincerity. We just wanted the tacos removed from the bill and to be done with the whole experience. Then the manager appeared--for the first time all night--holding a boxed-up order of chicken tacos. She offered a brief, half-hearted apology to one person at the table (not even my husband, who was the one affected) and vanished. No effort to own the error, no acknowledgment of the wait or the lack of communication. Just a sad little "sorry." And to top it all off? I was charged $2 for fries I specifically stated I could not have due to my allergy. I didn't get them. I didn't eat them. But I paid for them anyway. A minor charge, yes, but a major red flag that shows where this restaurant's priorities lie--nickel-and-diming customers, even when they physically cannot consume the The management team on duty tonight should be genuinely embarrassed by the lack of leadership, the clear favoritism toward friends of the staff, and the complete disregard for guest experience. I won't be back, and I won't be recommending Fire and Vine to anyone unless something seriously changes. read more

We we're traveling through from Nashville to Knoxville and looking for a pizza place for lunch. Found this on Google maps and it looked nice on the outside and inside was just as pleasant. The pros: The wine menu is decent and the food is pretty good for where this is located. I live in Scottsdale, so my expectations of a wine bar are high. The rooftop looked fun, but we couldn't eat up there in November with little kiddos. The service was friendly. The wine kiosks are fun, but not novel for people who are out of towners. The cons: The wine choices in the kiosks are limited. It's hard to have a range of likable, familiar wines plus some exotic options when you only have 12-15 spots for whites and reds. Maybe they will add more in the future. The service is slow. Very slow. It was busy, but not packed, so not sure if training or staffing is to blame. The food is good, but not great. Wine bars typically have good to better food, so this isn't unusual. It could be better for the diversity of options on the menu, however. Overall, it's a nice addition to Cookeville and it's good to see a new concept in the restaurant space here. We would go back, but it's not something I'm craving again. Fun place to go with friends for an evening of conversation and catching up. Probably a good happy hour spot on the rooftop, as well. read more
