Any meal that starts of with, what my grandmother would have called "angel rolls", starts out with a bang. So delicious that my husband got another order as his dessert. Staff is amazingly accommodating and got our orders completely right. He had Prime Rib and I had the chicken breast with bacon and cheese on top - both delicious! Salads were delicious. If you don't like heavy dressing, order it on the side. Baked potatoes were perfect. No alcohol on site but there is a liquor store across the street for you to get wine if you'd like. Only suggestion would be to bring back baklava on an occasional basis. Awesome! We will be back. read more

Even though the cashier claimed I had a Kansas accent (kidding) , I will come back every time I'm in Sparta. The service was super friendly and the pizza is fantastic. Normally I'm used to limited choices in a smaller town like Sparta, but I'm not even going to qualify this pizza as good for a small town. This plzza is crispy and delicious for any place. We went to Cummins falls today from Knoxville and on the way back we had selected to try Yanni's. It happened to be in Sparta so that worked out well, I selected it because it was a Greek owner and I expected the food to be wonderful and it was. We had been in Crossville earlier and ran into one of Yanni's school friends so mentioned him while we were there and we got a nice portion of their delicious pork gyro meat, We were stuffed from our dinners so brought that home My husband had the prime rib and it was so good, I selected the grilled shrimp and it was wonderful and we both had the tomato basil soup also very good. The city of Sparta is approximately in a little over an hour from Knoxville but when we are traveling that way on 40 we will make it a point to stop again at Yanni's. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Yanni's. The restaurant kind of gives a Italian/Greek vibe but at the same time a small town steakhouse/American restaurant. My summation is, it has an identity crisis. But, that's not a bad thing. They do it all very well. We arrived just after 4 o'clock on a Saturday and there weren't too many people in the restaurant. When we left an hour later the restaurant had started filling up and the noise level was starting to increase., mainly due to several family with younger kids coming in and talking over each other. As for the food side: The wife had the grilled chicken parm and she really enjoyed it. It had a great grilled flavor that was well complimented by the meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. The spaghetti was simple but also good. I had the grilled prime rib sandwich and it hit the spot. The prime rib was a little cold but was really a good temp for the sandwich. If it were to come out really hot I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much. The kitchen put a little au jus on the top of the hoagie bun giving it enough moisture that no condiments were really needed. It was served with a mustard and mayonnaise pack so I ate the first half plain and the second half with them. Both of the segments were very good. Service: The waitresses continually kept our glasses full and I don't think they ever got over half empty. The food came out timely with a couple rolls to start off, followed by our salads and shortly after we finished our salads the entree's arrived. My husband and I ordered the NY strip, grilled chicken and both of us had baked potatoes with sour cream and "butter" on the side. This had to be THE saltiest food we've ever had! So salty that my husband's mouth was numb. My grilled chicken was marinated in the saltiest marinade and our only saving grace was to eat the baked potato with each bite of meat. Went with my wife and 2 grandchildren to get them a surprise pizza( which, again, was awesome!!) I tried a small piece of my wifes 8" personal pizza(homemade crust and very, very tasty!). My chick parm was not breaded, it was marinated and grilled and served with my choice of meat sauce with a side of spaghetti, and.......... may have been the tastiest chicken parm ive ever had!!!! Our waitress was excellent, very friendly, helpfull & attentive and she originally recommended the cheeseburger. I was going to go that way as I LOVE a good burger. But..... I ordered one of the best plates of chicken parmesan I've ever had......... then I saw a burger go by on the way to another table, and I got hungry again lol!!! I reviewed Yanni's in 2022, and it was critical, but because of what Covid did to destroy our lifestyles and business, that should have been considered. since 2022, we've been back many times, and the food/prices/service/atmosphere is always great. Always friendly, always courteous, always offering delicious food,...they have worked their way back from the horrible days we all lived through during the epidemic. The food was really good and the prices were amazing. All the servers seemed to be awesome, they were very attentive to their customers! Our server on the other hand made us feel invisible. Customers that came in after us had fresh bread almost immediately after being seated. We had to ask for ours after finishing our salads we finally got bread. We had to get the servers attention, as she was quickly passing our table, for refills. The only time she spoke to us was when we ordered and when she gave us our bills. I would leave a zero stars if I could. After escorting my three kids inside to meet my parents, I went outside to my car to get my kids backpacks. As I was unloading all their things from my car, I was confronted by a women that was parked behind the back door. She spoke with a light foreign accent that I was parked in her parking spot and I need to move. At the time I was parked in a front row spot without any sign or indication that this spot belonging to someone. This Lady said "You are in my parking spot" and "you need to move". I was puzzled since there is no sign and there are other open spots in the front row. Instantly I became furious but held my tongue and asked "what, Do you own this place", she said "yes I own this place you are in my parking spot". Reluctantly I said Ok since im on her property. Sparta is not filled with an abundance of restaurants. However, for a town of its size and number of restaurants it has some good pizza. Yanni's is the top of the heap in that department. The owners are Greek and this is good Grecian pizza. It is generally thin with a nice rolled outer ring that crisps up nicely in cooking. There is a dusting of cornstarch on the outside, leaving everything (including your fingers) a bit powdery. The first thing you will notice is the cheese. I believe the mozzarella is late on in small sheets, giving a very nice even distribution as it melts. The toppings are tucked in under the pizza, the largest of them poking through in cooking. My mouth is kind of watering as I'm describing the pizza - and I ate there a few hours ago. Here's the thing: unlike other locations the ideal pizza at Yanni's is the simple pepperoni. Don't get me wrong; other toppings are nice and the combinations taste excellent. Nonetheless, the pepperoni is the perfect form when it comes to Yanni's pizza. The other food here is good - my wife loves the catfish; we both love the gyro. Still, as I've said elsewhere, if you are dining here and the meal doesn't at least include pepperoni pizza you are doing it wrong. :) read more

Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Clean with courteous and efficient service. Got there on a busy Saturday evening, but we're seated in 10 minutes. Menu provides something for everyone with soups, salads, burgers, steak,shrimp and fish. Portions are generous and the meals we ordered were delicious. I really was hoping for a better dining experience than what I received. From the outside the place looked like it was going to be a more unique experience. From my understanding this was not like a chain restaurant but local owned and operated. Once inside, the staff were dressed nice and everything was clean. I will say I felt they had squeezed a few to many tables into a small place that did take away from it. It wasn't busy when we went in so we ask to set more away from the small crowd of people due to my son being on the spectrum. Even with that, it was just to noisy. The menus offered up a nice selection of options to choose from so everyone definitely found something to try. Sadly once the food came, there was nothing above ordinary delivered ready to serve foods. The only thing made in house was the ranch and it was just more typical prepared items poured from a can into one container. The prices were very inflated for the meal we received. The server was extremely pleasant and I really wanted this to be more than it was for that reason. Sadly, this was the type of meal you could just go home open some containers and prepare yourself. We aren't going back. I know restaurants receive delivered goods all the time and the Robert Ore Sysco truck was there when we were but I thought there would be some kind of unique spin on something. Sadly, it was just the foods heated in a kitchen and dished out on a plate. I can do better at home without the ridiculous prices. Not worth it. read more

They have a variety of options on the menu from appetizers, sandwiches and salads, steaks, home made pizzas, to even seafood. We were welcomed by some very friendly staff and served the best dinner rolls I've had while we looked over the menu. We tried the fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were delicious! We then ordered the grilled shrimp plate and the fried cat fish. Before the meal came out we had our salad and soup (included w the plates) brought to us. We moved here in Sparta on April 2014. Each time we go to the post office we would pass Yanni's Grille. The parking lot is always full. My husband and I decided to give it a try. We ordered the Prime Rib and the side items. The waitress was extremely friendly. When she presented us with our dinner plates. He and I looked at one another. The prime rib was extremely thin and looked like a ribeye instead. The meat was extremely good. The only down fall was the portions are tiny and if I am paying for prime rib, I want some meat!! The meat wasn't even a half inch thick, but it was extremely tender. Will we go there again? No, don't get me wrong the meat tasted wonderful. Giving $40.00 plus for such a tiny portion of prime rib just doesn't cut it. read more
